One of my favorite moments in Rebels is when I finally understood what the Grand Inquisitor meant when he was fighting Kanan Jarrus and quipped that he (Kanan) favored form III "to a ridiculous degree." He meant that Kanan was fighting overly defensive!

Oh damn! Your move at 2:07 is extremely satisfying. As someone, who has been training fencing for some time, I really love counterattacks from crouching like this. Great job overall 😎❤
To me form III is the most Jedi type form it's about defence until your opponent makes a mistake or tired it promotes paitents not anger as some other forms use power moves which in the long run could lead to anger and the dark side as Obi Wan said Jedi's role is to preserve life not take it ☺️
This is my favorite among the seven lightsaber forms. I like how it deflects attacks and waits for the right timing to counterattack. Though, I read that you need to be resilient and have considerable stamina as this form emphasizes wearing your enemy out first.
I thought the purpose of Soresu was to conserve stamina? (As well as effectively defending). With the tight efficient movements that should preserve stamina, therefore allowing you to waste the opponent’s energy, no?
@@maximumdon7637 but, you would still need considerable stamina anyway. as someone who does this thing regularly it takes a *lot* of effort to block, parry, move around. even whilst trying to conserve energy.
@@lindabork6542 That’s true, but that’s the same for any martial art. Wielding a weapon, anticipating moves, blocking, parrying, and moving around is the same for each saber style. And for martial arts in general. Soresu may be more useful if you have a lot of stamina to then keep conserved, but then it’d be useful for someone who has less stamina than another opponent, as you’re not wasting useless energy.
I used to think that the Kenobi-Vader fight on the Death Star in 4 was janky and stiff because Alec Guinness was old AF. Turns out it was pretty competent Soresu!
couldnt have done it better such an amazing job you might be the next master of the 3rd light saber combat form soresu and I will look up to you for all of my life . SNIFFER
the whirlng pieces of cloth in a robe are said to have similar effects to the horse-hair tassel of the quiang spear. So as long as they are short enough to step on them by accident, they might be useful ;)
Always wondered why they decided in Episode III that Kenobi's ridiculous flourishing one-handed stance should be the opener for a defense-focused form reliant on two-handed blocks and parries. Aside from that one minor thing, this was always my favorite saber form because I feel it exemplifies the ultimate expression of Jedi philosophy in combat.
My only dueling opponent always attacks as quickly as possible, forcing me to basically run backwards until I get backed up into a tree or off the street into a ditch. Is there any way to stop his rapid advance or should I just ask him to slow down?
yes, just ask him to slow down. Try to improvise, explore some effective movements. Make a rule that you cannot hit each other, but you can aim to. Split roles - first one of you attacks 3-4 times, then the other.
The only form I have completely mastered is Makashi and if they make another Makashi video I would actually be super happy as Makashi is my favorite form
The only details you need to know about this form is saying "Hello There" and using the high ground.

Beautifully done! Soresu is my favorite stance and you’ve definitely mastered it
It is the most pure lightsaber from and in my opinion, it is a continuous foundation for building lightsaber compact styles

I randomly saved this playlist a week ago, and now that I'm watching it, this livestream suddenly popped up on it.
Excellent video! As a Sith Lord myself, I praise this video for helping to promote the Sith and the Dark Side! Thank you! 🔥🔥🔥 Like & Subscribed!
Currently learning all of the saber styles, and these videos helped a ton. Thank you!
I'd suggest you doing a video explaining and teaching one of the least known forms. Form DCLXVI or Atra-manua, Darth Nihilus's lightsaber form.
That's not his actual lightsaber form. That's made up.

I recall seeing a lightsaber getting twisted off the opponent's hands in Djem-So basics.
Good point! Some forms will naturally share some elements, as they ofter evolve from one another too
Right, Djem So is based off Soresu but with aggressive counters. Soresu is pure defense.

I mean, if tripping is the main reason that cloaks are bad, just shorten the hem around the bottom of the cloak, so it’s not a tripping hazard.
Next time how about a video of the application of Soresu with a saberstaff?
The only bad thing about this video is that It expects me to have friends to practise with Lmao-
Uwielbiam was :)
i remember ur older vid on form iii, thx for this
You guys should try playing blade and sorcery vr with the "outer rim" mod, best star wars dueling in vr imo
Can you do a new video about form 2 lightsaber combat?
What about the high ground???
Can you do some tutorial for a doble-bladed light saber?
They have one. Look for the saberstaff tutorial
Emergency block has executed order 66
Can you do djem so? (Anakin’s form)

The thing I've always hated about light saber choreography is all the unnecessary spinning. It just looks so silly.
Too much footwork... I imagine Soresu as tight and with very little effort. Flourishes. A lot of spinning. Supposed to the "Eye of the Storm".
