Later, he continues, "I think this is going to be a disaster for the American people." He also insists, "There is no good argument for down-sizing the federal government." Such a clear-headed perspective that is also in touch with the thinking of the public. To notice that a trivial development will nevertheless still constitute a true disaster represents some serious mental gymnastics. This interview should be reposted on April first.
Existing regulations do not allow for buyouts. There is a provision for severance pay when you are dismissed in a reduction in force. Management does not have the authority to put employees on extended administrative leave. Resignations normally can be withdrawn at will unless the agency has filled your position or by formal action eliminated your position. A hiring freeze would not prevent an employee from withdrawing a resignation. As a former HR manager, this plan is not grounded in reality. It appears to be the idea of people who do not understand the actual work of the civil service.
I wonder who this guy works for. This rhetoric doesn’t have the tone of being unbiased. And calling federal employees “very smart and savvy”. That’s not been my experience.
DO NOT resign. If you resign, you cannot get unemployment. Stay and let them fire you. Then all of those who agree to this foolishness will see that no money is being saved as the feds will have to pay unemployment insurance. Do not RESIGN!!!
What is your skin in this game, blowing your horn, Seth? Always look at the source when the negatives come out? Yeah, they're smart, they have been getting paid too much for a job that they don't do. Exactly, FAFO.
This guy is clueless about how a severance works. It is an offer. These employee can accept it or not. But the opposition(your guest) just believes that Government is indispensable. Most Federal employees are narrow minded and their first commitment is to make money for the Government to fund their jobs. Remember that government employees creates nothing, they only spend money for a process, they rarely answer question correctly and the courts have said as much. AI will replace 50-80% of them eventually. Also, if I was one of those employees who clocks in for 8 hours and puts in 3-5 hours of work per day, I would take this deal. This may be their only chance.
Many of these people have union protections and should contact their union reps before quitting. The president can't authorize 10's of millions of $'s for their "severance packages". It's a political bluff and I sure hope those people are smart enough to see it.
Americans are going to have to get up off their butts and go to work again They have been relying on the government for all of their Needs They need to rely on themself
It is always the poorly educated who are spouting nonsense clickbait terms. DEI impacted white people more, look at those federal DEI terminations, 77% white.
I think it’s absolutely unacceptable to continue his business as usual without any sort of oversight accountability or downsizing. Government transparency has been not existent for the past 50 to 60 years. I think that an actual bio offer needs to be made with clear terms and conditions in an actual legally binding contract with a certain amount offered as a severance. Just like border is gonna cost money I think downsizing the governments gonna have a cost as well, but it’s gonna be worth it overall. Instead of having an inefficient oversized government, we should have inefficient small government that can delegate to state government.
if you are going to be unbiased, shouldnt you also get comments from a non socialist? Many workers would like to take a work from home job in the private sector if federal work from home ends.

The Jeff guy so stupid that he thinks the IRS is efficient and athlete had good customer service where he been for the last 40 years good God what the hell is he even doing on the show?
@@mikestephens4442 I don't think you get to call anyone stupid when you are unable to write one coherent sentence. Take a seat, jester.
Biased! The tone is very biased. Don't invite this guy back. People watch these for 1 reason; for an unbiased report. Come on man, stick to the mission statement
Agree! I’ve been testing out Straight Arrow lately. This was disappointing 😢
Liked your station until you brought on this clearly biased guest. As soon as he called it the Trump-Musk organization it was clear. Disappointed…. I was so hopeful I had finally found a good new source.
snowflake much?
Government employees should not have a union… your employer is the commander in chief & we vote to support that person & their decisions
@@o9brian It is quite the opposite. As the power dynamics between the government as an employer and its workers is very much in favor of the employer, federal workers, before anyone else should have a union. It common sense, kind of like figuring out "commander in chief" is not an employer but an employee. Of the people. Like any public official.
Mass layoffs have been business as usual for years. Layoff is best case scenario in business today.
Weeding out the wheat from the chaff
This is a major safety concern
Safety concerns? How so?
The private sector employers won’t hire these people who are not used to it competitive work environment.
Well... According to Seth, if you're a government worker, you should get back to the office! Good job, Seth!
Good luck finding a job, we aren't even hiring cart attendants where I work thanks to Bidenomics.
I subscribed to this channel because they seemed to be reporting news, not opinions. Explain who this guy is, he is clearly a liberal, ex swamp dweller. Everyone does realize we are 35 trillion dollars in debt. If this kind of reporting continues I will unsubscribe.
"...I don't think we will see a measurable effect if five to ten percent of federal workers accept this sham offer," Seth Harris pointed out.
As a federal employee i can say there are too many federal employees it should be reduced
Federal employees, please fight for your rights and don’t e scared
I wonder who this guy works for. This rhetoric doesn’t have the tone of being unbiased. And calling federal employees “very smart and savvy”. That’s not been my experience.
Savvy at gaming the system.
DO NOT resign. If you resign, you cannot get unemployment. Stay and let them fire you. Then all of those who agree to this foolishness will see that no money is being saved as the feds will have to pay unemployment insurance. Do not RESIGN!!!
So if they don’t work, and just collect a check, how is that going to effect anything.
It's a gift for the people that wanted to leave anyway.
They won’t compete for other jobs cause other jobs actually work for their paychecks
Who would hire most government employees? Most are DEI and affirmative action hires.
Damn lies.
It is always the poorly educated who are spouting nonsense clickbait terms. DEI impacted white people more, look at those federal DEI terminations, 77% white.
Sounds like a good deal for those that actually have a dream.
This guy’s voice is so similar to Ezra Levant from Rebel news
if you are going to be unbiased, shouldnt you also get comments from a non socialist? Many workers would like to take a work from home job in the private sector if federal work from home ends.
What jobs?? There ARE NO GOOD PAYING JOBS in the private sector😂 wtf are you guys talking about?
Funny… my SIL makes 250K in the private sector. My son makes 150K in the private sector. But of course they actually work
@junebug6255 Good luck! If they're in "tech jobs" those are soon go be gone to artificial Intellegence. Thousands are being laid off in Tesla, Google, Meta, Microsoft, no one is safe right now. If you think you're kids are safe then you're in for a rude awakening once the economy collapses this year, we're in for one hell of a ride this year! I support the war fighter so I know I'll have a job as long as we have a military in this country.🫡😉 (still teleworking by the way) many of us are exempt.
@junebug6255 Well they're in for a rude awakening when the market crashes this year! Those "tech jobs" are all soon to be gone ans replaced by Ai. Most jobs will. I'm pretty surr they don't even have 10years in those jobs.
IG over at Ag got an armed escort out of the office. Go Trump! 😊
Clean the DC my friend... Too much swamp there
SWAMP Act in Congress
They just need to show at the office to keep their jobs. Is that so difficult?
You also risk losing good employees. This is a lazy way of optimizing and cost cutting.
If anybody knows anything about Fed workers/they're all there to do 20 yrs and retire/no joke even if it's a joke.
Yeah. Na. The problem is the 8 months of being paid for nothing. That's too good to be true. It's a trap.
Technically severance by opm guidelines can go up to 52 weeks. So 7 months isn’t that great…
@PatrickC-o8u they aren't volunteering for redundancy. They are choosing to resign.
Not very many…fewer than 5% will take the offer; many of whom likely to have retired this year anyway. Also, federal workers are spread out all over the globe; with approximately 20% of them concentrated in the DC metro area.
Hmmm. Thought this was the straight arrow news. Not biased.
Unsubscribing.
Bye.
"functioning"? That's a joke. There's no such thing as customer service in government. The SSA office in my area is totally useless.
Resign resign resign!
Do you think thousands of civil servants could then be sent to the fields to help harvest fruits and vegetables or learn construction skills??
DO NOT LEAVE YOUR FEDERAL JOB !
If they wanted to work They'd be at work already.
Federal workers should not be able to have unions. These are supposed to be public servants. They should not be able to form a union or strike.
Maybe you should form a Union for your workplace. Just a thought.
