The theme behind Boukenger was 'bouken', meaning adventure, and 'boukensha', meaning adventurers. Yo, i like about your opinion and view about these show. You appreciated the source material in good ways. It's true some of these series has upside down condition in some year because of rating, toys selling, inflation, natural disaster, production crew change, and also the critique from the parent that time. In 1990-1990 Fiveman rating was dropped very heavy so they could be cancel the show, so in the 1991-1992 Jetman series, they trying to add some new formula in the team drama for dynamic story, eventhough the parent protested the show because it's had some adult risk theme for their children who watch it but it's still got the highest TV Rating until today. The Peak was in 2011-2012 35th anniversary Gokaiger which brought the past sentai and actor and gain good reception between adult and kids who watch it, it's also give hope and spirit because there was an earthquake disaster in Japan. After that, some series rating and toys selling went down so the production must thinking more to give more inovation and creativity about these team.... and finally in 2021 we got Robot who can transform into Ranger and in 2022 we got CG Rangers. The Sentai still airing in 2023, right now they using background technology like the Star Wars Mandalorian used. Just for note, they only care and keep it exclusive to Japanese kids audience until now because the strict regulation from their TV Station who broadcast them, except there are some company which want to brought their license to outside Japan, like Saban does to Power Rangers (Stan Lee was trying to bring these show to America but failed). I think you can get some of the show in SHOUT! Factory Store or SHOUT! TV, consider to check it out. FYI, There was an Japanese Spider-Man TV Show created after JAKQ finished and before The Battle Fever J aired. Marvel gave them licensed to produced their own Spider-Man Show, so TOEI make this Spider-Man had a robot Leopardon who inspired the next sentai season with Giant Robot Mecha. Battle Fever J was actually inspired by Marvel Captain America back then.
With villains actually going giant monster by eating local sweet (youkan to be exact), surprise. There was episode where the pastry shop owner thought of shutting down the place because his wife left him. The actual bad guys worked so hard to actually get them back together. and ultimately, the key to defeat the last boss, in fact, was the pastry too.
I think you guys would really like Kamen Rider cause they have this kind of action but super dark stories, without losing the charm of the material. The current show going on is pretty crazy and the main rider of these shows usually crosses over with one of the sentai teams (they actually share the same creator).
I can't understand English, so I don't understand what you two are saying. However, as a Japanese person, I am happy because the atmosphere is so much fun! If possible, I'd like you to watch Shinkenger without spoilers... I want an environment where I can easily watch Power Rangers in Japan! I want to see the new appearance of the PR version and the success of the Megazord! ! !
(I know you said you don't understand English, but my Japanese is awful so sorry) Wasn't Power Rangers dubbed in Japan? Or the series wasn't as popular as the Sentai series?
@@eduardoherrera2368 I don't know if it was broadcast in Japan, but what I can say for sure is that the original Super Sentai series, which is more familiar than the original Power Rangers, is more popular.
Super Sentai is fantastic. And I agree with y'all, they're doing something right in Japan with this IP haha. I think it's well regarded and still successful in Japan because it's a show for kids but the stories are usually serious and tackle meaningful topics. Like the Ressha Sentai (the train one), it looks goofy AF but the story is surprisingly meaningful. I personally loved it. Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger (the pirates, Super Megaforce in US) is going to make you hate how the US f'd up our anniversary season haha. It's infuriating how good Japan did it and how bad the US did it. And lastly, my personal favorite is Samurai Sentai Shinkenger (Samurai). It is so inherently Japanese that Super Sentai is how that season should be watched. Well acted, the music (instrumentals) are fantastic, the heroes bleed and get injured, themes of loyalty and guilt, the villains are heinous, the characters are complex, etc. Power Rangers Samurai is the only other season (along with Super Megaforce) that actively makes me angry haha. Having a non-Asian/Japanese dude in Samurai as Jayden Shiba pissed me off to no end (if there was ever a time to have an Asian and specifically Japanese red ranger, it was this season). And the actors' kanji writing haha. When I started watching Super Sentai, I started with Gaoranger (Wild Force) and made it all the way to Kyuranger (the space one). I fell off because of life but watching from Gaoranger was enough that I still really appreciated the anniversary season Gokaiger (the pirates 35th anniversary one) when I got to it and fanboyed at all the cameos/guest appearances we got.
The point is super sentai is better than power ranger in terms of jokes, the action continues to have several episodes that are a little dark or have a bit of an adult element
And don't forget the enemies in Super Sentai, who are always different and have different goals. Unlike the current power rangers whose enemies are always aliens
I like the mid 80s to mid 90s opening themes. Hikari Sentai Maskman has one of the best songs. It was sung by Kageyama Hironobu, who also sang many Dragon Ball Z songs.
Recently, I went back to watch the Super Sentai versions of the Power Rangers I grew up watching including the Jetman series. I would highly recommend checking out Jetman. What I loved about Super Sentai is that they really spend adequate time fleshing out and developing the characters (sometimes over multiple episodes) and they do not shy away from dark themes in the shows which gives some realism and life lessons to the shows compared to our Power Rangers which can get very slapstick and corny from time to time.
If you guy do Kamen Rider I suggest breaking it down by eras, the 1st era is known as the Showa era with started in the 70's, the Heisei era with started in 2000 to 2019/2020 then the Reiwa era with we are in now.
Fun fact, it was the Stan Lee who brought his and others talents to Japan and kickstarted super sentai with Spiderman in the 70's. I believe Battle J Fever was the series that really sparked the essence of what Super Sentai/Power Rangers is today. Its very clear to see if yall ever watch the first two sentais and then battle J being the first Super Sentai. Its really cool to see American comics and Stan Lee be the reason of the success of Super sentai for this long and still hasnt stopped in 2023. It really shows the testiment and heart that went into this franchise since beginning
Changeman, Flashman, Maskman and Google Five were shown in Brazil and were a great success on TV, in 2020 Changeman was shown again on TV and again was a great success on Brazilian TV.
58:28 Actually no, as each installment is mostly standalone, set in their own universe with no connecting thread of that sort. 1:02:32 LuPat(the shortened name) is a VS series with 2 teams of Sentai, with the theme of phantom thieves and police vs gang/mafia. 1:09:08 Yeah by comparison, the action voiceovers feels more natural, mostly in due part that PR is produced through the licensing of the suits and action footage of finished Sentai works. 1:07:57 Do note that this is missing the op for Kingohger. The DonBrothers one in the compilation is it’s first iteration from the beginning of the series.
Late to the game watching this reaction video, but if you haven't started watching all the seasons yet, the ones I personally recommend the most are: Kakuranger (One of the goofier ones, but with a great cast, including the first American Sentai Ranger; they recently released a 30th Anniversary special, as well) Timeranger (Great storylines and characters - many of Time Force's best moments were copied directly from Timeranger. The Blue Ranger also gets a storyline that was NOT adapted into Time Force, although it might be hard for some people to watch.) Gekiranger (Probably has one of the most interesting main villains, as he gets nearly just as much character development as the heroes.) Shinkenger (Again, a really excellent cast that does the 'Team as Family' trope very well.) Gokaiger (Carries both the nostalgia factor with plenty of cameos and references to the previous 34 seasons, but also has a lead cast of new characters that are genuinely interesting to watch, instead of just having bland, one-dimensional characters riding on the coattails of said nostalgia factor.)
Also yeah man I agree. They should've done what Mighty Morphin did with Zeo. They had Mighty Morphin turn into Zeo Rangers. They should've turned Mighty Morphin into the Dai Rangers first then Kakurangers (ninjas) then Zeo Rangers. That would've been dope and made more sense with the zords.
I've watched a bunch of these, and it's always nice to see those openings again, especially with others' reactions along being so positive and genuine. That said, you guys expressed interest on watching Sentai seasons, and I highly recommend doing so! It will be a good time! Personally, I've started with Gekiranger, and is still one of my favorite seasons.
My favorite series of Power Rangers/Super Sentai has to be Time Force/ Timeranger. Time Force was my childhood favorite and after watching Timeranger a few months ago, that iteration became my all time favorite. I don't know who my all time favorite ranger is though. It might be Tommy because I grew up watching him as a little kid in the 90s all the way until Dino Thunder, with the way he carried himself, he seemed like a real Power Ranger instead of someone acting as a Power Ranger if that makes sense!
While Super Sentai did influence a lot of media including its own tropes being integrated into Magical Girl heroes such as Sailor Moon (something that SM’s creator admitted, wanting “Sentai for Girls”) and Pretty Cure, it had things influencing its own evolution. Gatchaman had one of its writers become a mainstay on Super Sentai, introducing a lot of what we know into it especially wrist transformation braces. GoLion (Voltron) was one of many Anime that introduced animal robots. Innovations by outside Super Robot Shows and competition in toy design compelled the PLEX designers at Bandai to keep moving forward. Tsuyoshi Nonaka, a designer for Takara and Hasbro’s Transformers, created the MMPR Megazord and worked on several mechanical designs for Bandai. Just some interesting tidbits.
I stopped watching Super Sentai after the early Heisei era (90s) because most of the ones that came out after that I always thought were too childish for me. But then I discovered Donbrothers (the recent one with the weird CGI members) that came out last year, and it made me fall in love with Sentai again, that series was really good and I'd recommend it to anyone who's interested in Sentai but never started. Also, you guys should cover more Japanese tokusatsu stuff like Kamen Rider and Ultraman, and even Metal Heroes. And you guys should also check out all the Super Sentai transformation scenes too.
Funny you mentioned Dragon Ball when you watched the Maskman opening. Because Hironobu Kageyama (Who signs Chala Head Chala, the Japanese DBZ opening) also performs many Sentai openings, among them Maskman.
BROO after watching the opening songs, you guys need to watch the transformation scene from these Super Sentai Series btw if you realized, some of the Series feels so happy & fun, they made it like that cause they wanna make the kids happy too, for example after hit by an earthquake, or natural disasters, or like the pandemic from 2020.

Hey guys, new sub here, I wanna say that as a huge PR/Sentai fan I appreciate you guys going thru this and experiencing the history of sentai for the first time. So real quick: Gekiranger became Jungle Fury, Go-onger- RPM, Goseiger- Megaforce, Gokaiger- Super Megaforce, Go-Busters- Beast Morphers, Kyoryuger- Dino Charge. As of now Shout Factory has subbed Jetman - Dekaranger and they are all available on DVD & streaming for free on Pluto TV. I think it would be really cool if you guys started a watch along series for sentai so you can experience what was taken and used for Rangers. Keep up the great work!!
Fun fact about lupinranger vs patranger: The lupin(thief) are criminal but not evil They just stole the treasure (main source of power of the monster in the series) and retrieve them to make a wish once they collect them all Patranger are just doing their job. The reason why patranger is after lupinranger even though they are fighting the same enemies are because... Idk, it's never stated but probably because they are vigilantes
I'm going to compare the name of the Super Sentai series to the Power Rangers series. sorted by the appearance of the series Mainly Super Sentai. Zyuranger, Dairanger = Mighty Morphin SS1 & 2 Kakuranger = Mighty Morphin SS3 (Zords) & Alien Rangers Ohranger = Zeo Carranger = Turbo Megaranger = In space Gingaman = Lost Galaxy Gogofive = Lightspeed Rescue Timeranger = Time force Gaoranger = Wild force Huricanger = Ninja strom Abaranger = Dino thunder Dekaranger = S.P.D. Magiranger = Mystics force Boukenger = Operation Overdrive Gekiranger = Jungle fury Go-onger = RPM Shinkenger = Samurai Goseiger = Megaforce Gokaiger = Super Megaforce Go-buster = Beast Morphin Kyoryuger = Dino Charge Ninninger = Ninja Steel Kyuranger = Cosmic fury (Zords?) Ryusolger = Dino fury & Cosmic fury (Sult) Other Sentai = no in Power Rangers series but you will see in commic.
Actually the rangers in GoGov, five man, magiranger (except for gold) are all siblings In ninninger red and white are siblings with others being their cousins
After the events of Zenkaiger, all next Super Sentai will be in alternate worlds and dimensions. The current one, Kingohger, is themed after kings and insects. There's like 20 episodes so far and it's amazing
Also fun fact: The reason why in the Zyuranger opening we see the Dinozords on a cloud like they were in heaven, is because while in MMPR, the Megazord is a just a powerful mecha, in Zyuranger, it's litterally God. Also, another one: While in MMPR, the Rangers got the NinjaZords then the ShogunZords, in Kakuranger, it's the inverse (Also,in Kakurager the ShogunZords are the Rangers transformed, not just mecha) Also, the Falconzord in Kakuranger is a Sentient autonomous mecha
dekaranger, go-onger, shinkenger, goseiger and gokaiger are like the most favorited super sentais, they are like everyone's childhood power rangers and then there is magiranger, gekiranger, go-busters kyoryuger are like not that very popular but also people's childhood power rangers

Shout Factory has put out a few of the series on dvd, the have from Fiveman up to Dekaranger at the moment!

Funny thing about Car Ranger is that it was a full blown parody of itself, it's quite funny from what I saw and endearing
(I know you said you don't understand English, but my Japanese is awful so sorry)
Wasn't Power Rangers dubbed in Japan? Or the series wasn't as popular as the Sentai series?
@@eduardoherrera2368 I don't know if it was broadcast in Japan, but what I can say for sure is that the original Super Sentai series, which is more familiar than the original Power Rangers, is more popular.
Hell yeah!!!!!!!!! Donbrothers is my shit

Y’all gotta watch Kingohgers opening
Yeah but all the videos with the correct opening keep getting copyright striked
日本のスーパー戦隊を楽しんでくれて嬉しいです!次は仮面ライダーもして欲しい…
この動画を見てる人たちに言いたい、ゴーカイイエローの役をやってる人は、キュウレンジャーのワシピンクの声の人です

The point is super sentai is better than power ranger in terms of jokes, the action continues to have several episodes that are a little dark or have a bit of an adult element
And don't forget the enemies in Super Sentai, who are always different and have different goals. Unlike the current power rangers whose enemies are always aliens
@@yoprasservice3743 and the rangers are Alien rangers and Timerangers
Hope you do Kamen Rider next!!!

Jetman is very good. The script is written by Toshiki Inoue. Last year's Don Brothers was also written by Toshiki Inoue, so I recommend it.
If you guy do Kamen Rider I suggest breaking it down by eras, the 1st era is known as the Showa era with started in the 70's, the Heisei era with started in 2000 to 2019/2020 then the Reiwa era with we are in now.
Yes, create a playlist of 80s 📼 content. I prefer this type of content because you guys get to bring that old-school knowledge to the table.

It's not all set in thier own universe. Only some are.
@@n.s4122 in Zenkaiger it confirmed they’re all in their own universe, like Zenkaiger is in Zenkaitopia and Donbrothers is in Donbrotopia

Late to the game watching this reaction video, but if you haven't started watching all the seasons yet, the ones I personally recommend the most are:
Kakuranger (One of the goofier ones, but with a great cast, including the first American Sentai Ranger; they recently released a 30th Anniversary special, as well)
Timeranger (Great storylines and characters - many of Time Force's best moments were copied directly from Timeranger. The Blue Ranger also gets a storyline that was NOT adapted into Time Force, although it might be hard for some people to watch.)
Gekiranger (Probably has one of the most interesting main villains, as he gets nearly just as much character development as the heroes.)
Shinkenger (Again, a really excellent cast that does the 'Team as Family' trope very well.)
Gokaiger (Carries both the nostalgia factor with plenty of cameos and references to the previous 34 seasons, but also has a lead cast of new characters that are genuinely interesting to watch, instead of just having bland, one-dimensional characters riding on the coattails of said nostalgia factor.)
You need to see King-Ohger, 2023's Super Sentai.
I am 43 and still watch Super Sentai . That how they influence not just kid but adult too.
First time seeing this channel, came because of the Super Sentai openings!
日本でのスーパー戦隊シリーズは、毎年毎週日曜日の朝に放送しているので、ちびっ子達が休日でもちゃんと起きるような効果もありますねぇ!
ジュウレンジャーで露骨にテンション上がるのすき

Shotaro Ishinomori's contributions to Super Sentai are invaluable. Travel to Japan 🇯🇵
now react to the endings and kamen rider openings :0 cool reaction
Super Sentai's such a fun ride. Always a blast watching it
My favorite series of Power Rangers/Super Sentai has to be Time Force/ Timeranger.
US Fans after watching ( 50:05 ): That's one fine looking Ranger series... -Looks at Power Rangers Super Megaforce.- WHY DOESN'T MINE LOOK LIKE THAT?!

The last Don Brothers singer is Win Morisaki, who appeared in Spielberg's movie, Ready Player One.
Funny you mentioned Dragon Ball when you watched the Maskman opening. Because Hironobu Kageyama (Who signs Chala Head Chala, the Japanese DBZ opening) also performs many Sentai openings, among them Maskman.
Wow…Word…that’s dope AF…

Fun fact about lupinranger vs patranger:
The lupin(thief) are criminal but not evil
They just stole the treasure (main source of power of the monster in the series) and retrieve them to make a wish once they collect them all
Patranger are just doing their job.
Zyuranger, Dairanger = Mighty Morphin SS1 & 2
Kakuranger = Mighty Morphin SS3 (Zords) & Alien Rangers
Ohranger = Zeo
Carranger = Turbo

Gingaman = Lost Galaxy
Gogofive = Lightspeed Rescue
Timeranger = Time force
Gaoranger = Wild force

Abaranger = Dino thunder
Dekaranger = S.P.D.
Magiranger = Mystics force
Boukenger = Operation Overdrive
Gekiranger = Jungle fury

Goseiger = Megaforce
Gokaiger = Super Megaforce
Go-buster = Beast Morphin
Kyoryuger = Dino Charge
Ninninger = Ninja Steel
Kyuranger = Cosmic fury (Zords?)
Ryusolger = Dino fury & Cosmic fury (Sult)
Other Sentai = no in Power Rangers series but you will see in commic.
Actually the rangers in GoGov, five man, magiranger (except for gold) are all siblings
In ninninger red and white are siblings with others being their cousins
how can you understand the music?
