All my bike trips have been Solo . Someday I might ask someone if they would want to go. I usually just go 400 miles ,camp a week then turn around & go home. I’ve traveled by car/truck & rv to 43 USA states 7 Canadian Provinces & drove from West Texas to Alaska 4300 miles one way. One car trip was 7000 miles in Ten days . Now just need to go on a long several week trip on my bike knowing I won’t be going as many miles per day as I did in a Cage. “Keep up the Great Work/Videos/Picture’s & Bike Review’s “. THANKS !!!
Enjoyed the solo tour and continued focus and emphasis on the ride with the destination as a highlight. Also your photography talents make a nice wrap up at the end. (Sorry for the delayed comments-I am working my way through your tours oldest to newest).

Hi Rich, as you were in no rush to get home, you should have done Buttertubs pass while you was at Hawes, it's only a couple of minutes ride from Hawes, cracking road and of course, beautiful scenery. Enjoy the Picos again, we did them again in June.
Nice video RV, I've enjoyed this trip with you. There's even more room under the seat when you fit the fibreglass cowl, looks better too imo. Had a quick shifter fitted to mine, great fun.
Hello, from the US. Love the VFR's. Presently have a 1984 VF 700 F Interceptor. In beautiful shape and runs perfectly. Had the same machine in the late 80's early 90's in 750 cc. Loved that bike but had to sell it to move to suburbia after detaching from active duty. United States Marines. Enjoyed your ride, beautiful country. Definitely need to do some bike touring oversees. VFR 800 or 1200 will be the next bike. Stay safe!

hi Richy, about those twin cities: we have those in NL as well. It's basically a friendship bonding and both city governments help each other out where possible by exchanging governmental knowledge and experiences and cultural exchanges (arts, music, theatre, etc). Sometimes there are also student exchanges , holiday camps for kids, etc.
I pointed out the guest house to my son yesterday on my way through Ambleside on the way to take him to Keswick for his rugby match...switched on and you've got a new vid starting outside. You need to get on Honda's payroll, as I just bought a new Interceptor 800 Deluxe! I had been thinking about getting one, but not too seriously. However, after watching your fantastic video's of touring the United States, I was convinced the VFR is one cool bike! I would say that watching the video's convinced me this bike has the fun factor and I can tour on it also.

All the things you say about the VFR apply exactly to the Sprint and it is in exactly the same sector of the market to do exactly the same job, mile munching in comfort with some spice. I know u mentioned some subscribers offered to lend you their bikes for review. I've only got the one but if u haven't tried it and would like to see how it compares with yr VFR800F, I'd be happy to bring it along sometime 😉 Great vlog and inspiring, I did an impromptu Scottish trip and seeing this, must do the Lakes 👌👍
Just seen these vids (where have been for last 2 years🤪) did the lakes this September weather was awesome did Wrynose and Hardnott, but on a Sunday and was manic with mini owners club, cyclists and SUVs not a great experience for the first time think I need to do what you did mid week trip out of school holidays times. Crossrunner behaved very well 😉😎
love your videos. was on the fence on if i should buy this bike to return to biking again. loved the look of the bike as all the other "sports tourers" are more like adventure bikes. regardless you have convinced me this is the bike for me and you have given me a real thirst to get biking again. the z1000 is a tad too sporty for me and the 1000 kawa motor in my opinion is a bit too agressive to my taste. also the pillion abilitys of the kawa seems poor

Hopefully I have backtracked to the correct clip. You mentioned about headlight beam pattern was weard. I THINK it’s for good fog visibility . I am just comparing Vfr750fp to Vfr800fe. I commute at 0530 and the new bike is definitely an improvement in my opinion.

Well done mate. @12:05 = A great idea orginally conceived in 1947 just after the Second World War to promote peace and reconciliation and some really good values like friendship, understanding different cultures while encouraging trade and tourism. Some twinned towns have similar characteristics, populations, industries and so on but its not always the case. Since the late 1980's the European Union has also been supporting twinning projects and in early 2000's started supporting twinning projects to the tune of about 12 million Euro's a year. Great video again, I always carry a lightweight bike cover, that keeps it dry & helps with security, the twinning is those two towns or cities have links they exchange students, the councils come together for functions. Share cultural experiences. The one place to stay is how my wife & I prefer to our touring. Pick a place we like & then find a cottage & then days out coming back to the same place each night, also means if the weather is bad one day you can take the day off & just relax.

ZZR wears you glove palms out before your tyres trying to steer them. I had one. Its for the fastest man in a straight line! I have the H2 SX SE supercharged one now. It actually goes around corners too!!
Sorry I have to disagree,i have performance sport zzr1400 with brembos and ohlins,and it does twisties fine.recently took the h2 sx out not that impressed, felt a bit snatchy on off throttle,where as the z is butter smooth and quicker 😉each to there own I suppose 👍
hairless biker that’s what makes biking fun! All having different bikes and different likes.. that’s the Z I had and it was lovely. Sadly all new 2018 bikes have shit throttle shutting because of the Euro ... the MTS was terrible amongst others. The Kwak loaner I had 1000 thing was terrible. Stick with a sub 2018 anything !!!

So the curry wasn't any good as you never mentioned it apart from the stain from the remnant on your nail? So Honda need to sort out that rear seat so anything underneath remains dry which begs the question if it ain't water tight then water is getting down into the frame of the bike? Corrosion issues over time? Maybe Honda should just have one large seat like on 5th generation bikes which can be removed just as easily but everything is dry underneath as it isn't split. Also they definitely need to spec it with cruise control. Thanks for making and posting.

When a place is 'twinned I believe it means they have cultural exchanges between the two places. and share events and sometimes visit the twinned communities being hosted by the locals.; staying with families and folk who provide a welcome; It enables communities to establish links across different countries. Love the solo trip fair weather and foul.
How did you find the riding position compared to your 6th Gen? I heard as they brought the crossrunner out, they made the standard vfr a bit more sporty/leant forward? Top work ricky! 😉

Hi Richy I have a 2001 vtec (must have been one of the first of the new model made) anyways, With me its all about the noise it makes, it has a Staintune set up & it has that deep stereo exhaust sound, like your silver machine does. Just wondering now that you have ridden both, which one do you prefer, the new model or ours.
I still prefer the 6th Gen. The headlight on the 8th is very weird, leaving a lot of the important stuff out of view. Beautiful looking bike, but yes, still prefer ours.
Looking at that car park with the two ponies, I can understand why they call it the Lake District. There's probably 40 lakes on it alone. lol Btw, that compartment under the pillion seat is a bit rubbish. They could've made it with a curved plastic lip on the rider seat, so that the pillion seat goes over that lip and completely avoid all this nonsense with the water inside. I have a one-piece seat on my Versys 650 and the only time any water gets under the seat (very little though) is when I spray it hard from underneath during washing. When it merely sits in the rain, nothing goes in (as it should be). I'm afraid to think what this bike would look like inside after a good wash. That's probably the only thing I find disappointing about this bike, I really don't care about the position of indicator switch or lack of cruise control. I've driven cars with cruise control and barely used it. On my bike, I'm constantly adjusting speed so don't really need it. If I want to rest my hands, I'll just pull over somewhere and take a break. Anyway, nice 3 part series despite the miserable weather. Thanks for sharing! P.S. In one of the earlier videos you showed the headlight coverage area/beam pattern. Do any of your wildbad buddies own a Gen8 VFR and have they done anything to address the issue?
I’m not sure the ‘issue’ can be addressed. Yep, a few own the 8th Gen, and have since moaned a bit. Bike looks stunning, as do the lights. Just not that great at night due to that weird beam pattern. I have a new KTM for review at the mo, and that has cornering lights to help with this. So it flicks a side beam on at certain lean angles. Very cool.
@@RichyVida thanks for the detailed response 👍 I was thinking with the Crossrunner you can just fit fog lights but it doesn't look like anyone's done that with the F (and.... it'd look a bit pants). I rode the new Versys 1000 SE with the cornering lights and was similarly impressed, definitely not a gimmick are they.

PS on a personal note how do you juggle family life/ kids/Her indoors, as I am on my second partner(my CBR600RR WAS apparently my mistress) and my current Babe has started dropping hints like I spend more money and more time with my VTR 1000 than I do with her:( No, she does not ride bikes not even as a pillion ever with me, and says they are dangerous lol, I told her Barry Sheen died of smoking, not of motorcycling she said "that may be true but if I continue making more time for the bike than her she would run me off the road!!" I quipped "if you can catch me in your CLIO CUP," she said "I have racing suspension and I can catch you in the corners" Should I make more time for her Richy or take a TRACK DAY to hone my VTWIN exits out of bends lol:)

I finally got my interceptor last week. Weather has been crappy, but I'm gappy i'm back on that bike.

Aside from your vids I’ve been watching a w others like Captain Cranky in Australia and I get to look across the room where they moved my bike . Hope to ride it for my birthday in February . Great video again, I always carry a lightweight bike cover, that keeps it dry & helps with security, the twinning is those two towns or cities have links they exchange students, the councils come together for functions. Share cultural experiences. The one place to stay is how my wife & I prefer to our touring. Pick a place we like & then find a cottage & then days out coming back to the same place each night, also means if the weather is bad one day you can take the day off & just relax.
Must admit the 684 is a great road.

I ride a VFR 1200 cross tourer but am thinking maybe its time for a Cross runner 800 or the VFR 800 that your on,considering I was a Tiger 1050 rider for years you have won me over

ZZR wears you glove palms out before your tyres trying to steer them. I had one. Its for the fastest man in a straight line! I have the H2 SX SE supercharged one now. It actually goes around corners too!!
Sorry I have to disagree,i have performance sport zzr1400 with brembos and ohlins,and it does twisties fine.recently took the h2 sx out not that impressed, felt a bit snatchy on off throttle,where as the z is butter smooth and quicker 😉each to there own I suppose 👍
hairless biker that’s what makes biking fun! All having different bikes and different likes.. that’s the Z I had and it was lovely. Sadly all new 2018 bikes have shit throttle shutting because of the Euro ... the MTS was terrible amongst others. The Kwak loaner I had 1000 thing was terrible. Stick with a sub 2018 anything !!!

So Honda need to sort out that rear seat so anything underneath remains dry which begs the question if it ain't water tight then water is getting down into the frame of the bike? Corrosion issues over time? Maybe Honda should just have one large seat like on 5th generation bikes which can be removed just as easily but everything is dry underneath as it isn't split. Also they definitely need to spec it with cruise control. Thanks for making and posting.

When a place is 'twinned I believe it means they have cultural exchanges between the two places. and share events and sometimes visit the twinned communities being hosted by the locals.; staying with families and folk who provide a welcome; It enables communities to establish links across different countries. Love the solo trip fair weather and foul.

How did you find the riding position compared to your 6th Gen? I heard as they brought the crossrunner out, they made the standard vfr a bit more sporty/leant forward?

I have a 2001 vtec (must have been one of the first of the new model made) anyways,
With me its all about the noise it makes, it has a Staintune set up & it has that deep stereo exhaust sound, like your silver machine does.
Just wondering now that you have ridden both, which one do you prefer, the new model or ours.
I still prefer the 6th Gen. The headlight on the 8th is very weird, leaving a lot of the important stuff out of view. Beautiful looking bike, but yes, still prefer ours.

Looking at that car park with the two ponies, I can understand why they call it the Lake District. There's probably 40 lakes on it alone. lol
Btw, that compartment under the pillion seat is a bit rubbish. They could've made it with a curved plastic lip on the rider seat, so that the pillion seat goes over that lip and completely avoid all this nonsense with the water inside. I have a one-piece seat on my Versys 650 and the only time any water gets under the seat (very little though) is when I spray it hard from underneath during washing. When it merely sits in the rain, nothing goes in (as it should be). I'm afraid to think what this bike would look like inside after a good wash.
That's probably the only thing I find disappointing about this bike, I really don't care about the position of indicator switch or lack of cruise control. I've driven cars with cruise control and barely used it. On my bike, I'm constantly adjusting speed so don't really need it. If I want to rest my hands, I'll just pull over somewhere and take a break.
Anyway, nice 3 part series despite the miserable weather. Thanks for sharing!

Hi Richy, quick question for you...I reckon this is probably the one of the better places to ask buuuuut it's still not great (apologies). In one of the earlier videos you showed the headlight coverage area/beam pattern.
Do any of your wildbad buddies own a Gen8 VFR and have they done anything to address the issue?
I’m not sure the ‘issue’ can be addressed. Yep, a few own the 8th Gen, and have since moaned a bit. Bike looks stunning, as do the lights. Just not that great at night due to that weird beam pattern. I have a new KTM for review at the mo, and that has cornering lights to help with this. So it flicks a side beam on at certain lean angles. Very cool.
@@RichyVida thanks for the detailed response 👍 I was thinking with the Crossrunner you can just fit fog lights but it doesn't look like anyone's done that with the F (and.... it'd look a bit pants).
I rode the new Versys 1000 SE with the cornering lights and was similarly impressed, definitely not a gimmick are they.

No, she does not ride bikes not even as a pillion ever with me, and says they are dangerous lol, I told her Barry Sheen died of smoking, not of motorcycling she said "that may be true but if I continue making more time for the bike than her she would run me off the road!!" I quipped "if you can catch me in your CLIO CUP," she said "I have racing suspension and I can catch you in the corners"
Should I make more time for her Richy or take a TRACK DAY to hone my VTWIN exits out of bends lol:)
