    Looks like the fuel line was long so the battery door would hold the fuel line on

      Please consider compartmentalizing that battery, to isolate it from the housing with the fuel line in it. It should not be in there. Seems best to have it insulated in a completely separate compartment, so if it ever does burn, it will separate the heat from the fuel line compartment. Either that, or insulate the fuel line.

  • @GaboonViper67

    Having worked in the electrical field, as an installer and terminator for 20 years, I can tell you this guy is giving you some good advice. I absolutely cannot believe somebody sold a flamethrower with wiring terminated like that. It's actually horrifying. Gasoline is nothing to play around with. You can tell by watching some of the RUclips videos how many people just aren't aware of it's explosiveness and volatility. And once it gets on you, it is extremely difficult to put it out.
    As far as the L-ion batteries are concerned, he makes a great point about moving it, but his advice there really falls far short of what should be done. Watch any video of Lithium Ion battery going off. It burns like Magnesium....WHITE HOT! This battery should be in a completely separate, sealed compartment that is foil and Rock-wool insulated at the very least. I don't care how you move it around inside that compartment, if that battery goes off inside there, it is going to melt and rupture that hose in seconds and you will be in a world of trouble. I would build a separate compartment and bolt it to the bottom plate, with the L-ion battery on the outside, separated from the gas hose and other wires.

      Their New XM-42X model is more like your last comment. The battery is rearward of the fuel lines & tank, and in a separate compartment at the back of the unit. They sent me one for review. Look for that video to come out soon.

    Bought one at a gun show today for $200 new. Everything you pointed out seems fixed on mine and the quality is really good. Only thing i had to do was adjust the igniter tip to light the gas.

      Wow, that’s a really good deal. I’m glad everything inside looks good. The quality control manager at XM-42 said he showed my video to the production staff and to look forward to the product improving in the future. from what I’ve seen since then and based on your comment, I think they’re taking a little more care in putting them together now.

  • @butziporsche8646
    @butziporsche8646 2 года назад

    That wiring wasn't groomed. I have built a similar system but I use a terminal strip and mine is also fused. Additionally, none of my fuel lines are in close proximity to the battery. My pump is about 4" from the front heat shield so I have a rigid tube/nozzle joined by a 2" fuel hose.

    Hey man, thanks for the video. Quick question: mine keeps getting fire behind the shield piece and i have to blow it out. I've never seen anyone else have this issue and i know it's not right. I know fire in front of the shield is normal. Any idea what can be done about this?

    • @texturedpuma5685
      @texturedpuma5685 Год назад +1

      Also, I've started using velcro for the battery and 10-24 knob screws, instead of the Allen heads that come with it. Makes it easy to get the battery in and out.

    • @equinoxtacticalsupply7732
      @equinoxtacticalsupply7732  Год назад +1

      Have you noticed any wetness behind the shield that might indicate a loose connection?
      That’s a good idea with the thumb screws. 👍 and the Velcro works too.
