A LITTLE know, North American native that is one of the richest plant sources of antioxidative activity. A fruiting shrub that fits into any sunny location. Plant in rich organic soil and this plant will produce or, find a organic farmer who supplies the fruit! I grow and harvest it, AND buy it. I eat Aronia Berry (Chokeberry) year around. I buy from (no commission), Chester River Aronia, www.chesterriveraronia.com Aronia Berry benefits, heppy.org/chokeberry#Aronia_berry_Benefits
In the nursery at Great Escape Farms we do softwood (summer) propagation with about 95% success rate. We mist for 10 seconds every 5-minutes from 6AM until 9PM in a coarse sand medium. They are spaced 1" apart in rows that are 2" apart. We take the cuttings in early July and they are ready to be potted up from Late October until early spring.
@greatescapefarms Nice! Am not surprised the Great Escape Farms is successful with softwood propagation of Aronia Berry! Thank you, and thanks for stopping by!
thanks! my girlfriend bought me 2 aronia melanocarpa for my bday last week , i will plant them in the berry patchin zone 5 B , happy to know that japaneese beetle wont eat them!!
@Kay-xi9kv that's weird. personally, i would not be surprised if it's my low-watering; i stopped fertilizing (all plants); by nature, it was an off year.... the young 10 Chokeberry (15:43) fruited well for being 3 yrs old. i visited the organic farmer and it's not like he thinned the canes; he topped them ~2 yrs ago, but didn't clear-out "old wood" like you'd do on a Currant or Gooseberry. good question; interesting that you experienced it too... thanks for stopping by.
I'm in CA zone 9b. I have 2 black aronia plants. They are only about 2 feet tall. They fruit pretty well. Last year they were loaded but this year has less. My soil is terrible, it's tan clay. Do you have recipes?
@lilycardoso4679 i'm glad your trying them there. i took some to my brother in SD county but they're still in pots :/. compost and water them well -- negate the bad soil & dry weather.... And, try digging-in compost into soil a bit. Recipes are here, heppy.org/chokeberry#Eat_Chokeberry_and_Chokeberry_superfruit I make a smoothie out of them. these days it's ~2 cups Aronia, 2 bananas, 50/50 water & soil milk. makes about 4 glasses -- two days of Aronia smoothies :) ruclips.net/video/L8GQEaj2nT8/видео.html thank you for watching the vid, and for stopping by!
@seanmorgan2678 thanks for the heads up. I've not done a deep dive on the honey berries, Lonicera caerulea. i review only research posted to NIH's PubMed, pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/?term=Lonicera+caerulea i do see benefits from Lonicera caerulea. Thank you. compare & contrast :) Lonicera caerulea: pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/?term=Lonicera+caerulea Aronia melanocarpa: heppy.org/chokeberry#Aronia_berry_Benefits

Thanks for this subject! I had never heard of these. I will definitely be growing one or more now.
@@karenholt9744 great news and thank you for the feedback 🐞👨🌾
Any thoughts on why 2024 is a low-producing year? I’m in Northern CA zone 7B and I also had half the production this year. Thanks! Great videos!

I heard that honey berries have more antioxidants than aronia berry / choke berry. They also taste much better.
