I had a persimmon sapling given to me by my neighbor and I temporarily put it in one of my raised beds til I had time to plant it. It waited a year and then two before I dug it up to move it to its permanent location. Problem is I must have left a root behind and now there’s a proliferation of persimmons sprouting in the growing bed and it’s a headache.

@@sqwrrl I'm no expert but the most common root stock is the Virginia native tree -- and it can sucker. Oddly, of all ~6 or 7 varieties I grow, only one suckers. Yup, sorta a pain. However, if you can transplant the suckers and once they start growing, graft other varieties to the sucker ;). Graft a great Japanese variety to it :))

Thank you for making this video. I let my tree grow upwards bc I need it to shade the house fr the afternoon sun and the privacy screen fr my next-door neighbor. I love my mulberry tree even though the fruits stain the concrete floors by the swimming pool. Either the birds drop them mid-flight, they throw up, or I undeliberately spread them with my feet while doing garden chores. The intense heat of the AZ desert sun bleaches the stains within one month so I don't worry too much about them. What's nice is there are so many fruits produced that I can share with different kinds of birds. It's a treat to watch them hang out in my backyard bc they love organic berries!

I don't buy into the chemical mafia Monsanto made USDA invasive list myself. Its got lots of LIES in it about plant toxicity and livestock palatability and Monsanto has been sued and kicked out of many other countries for lying about plants being toxic and labeling them noxious. They had to hide their name and merge into Bayer Syngenta, etc. to keep "round up" glyphosate on the shelves due to toxicity and carcinogenic / hormone disruption. Monsanto herbicide corporation has been controlling USDA from the top chairmen since 1957. They can tell you what you can and can not grow and it's only gonna get more regulated until they seize your land by fining you to death. If it's NOT on their invasive list it probably ain't gonna grow very well. Just about everything is on their list in some state. They've sprayed Florida to death. Just look at K- nep environment youtube channel. The Wineberry is a fine raspberry. They do well in some areas not so well I others. Big plump and deliciously tender. There is NOTHING wrong with good FOOD that will survive the drastic conditions. It's an Oxymoron that a huge population of foreign invasive people aim to kill everything in America that wasn't here before the Mayflower landed in Plymouth Rock. Worse yet the agencies use non biodegradable herbicides to kill them. Dead zones result. Especially the 5800 square mile one in our Gulf. I love wine berries, they are not invasive to me and nobody will dictate who is invasive or welcome on my land but me. Think for yourself. Why don't YOU like wine berries? Because they grow? Grow some sickly ones then. Wine berries still won't grow in some regions though. They barely survive my climate . It's too hot and dry in summer for them in the Ozarks. Dorman Red Raspberry is WAY more vigorous here but the fruit is not nearly even as sweet, large and delicious as wine berry.

The difference between the two types of vitex are so phenomenal that I know beekeepers who have dug out their vitex agnus castus and replaced it with vitex Negundo. @@shaffti7701I can speak here, and yes. Whenever they make their way into natural environments they annihilate local competition. Unlike Black Raspberry or even other invasives like autumn olive, wineberry thrives in full shade which means that the populations which don't usually have to worry about competition from opportunist invasives do (take mature forests, for example) and those areas are most critical for wildlife. Our native animals have not evolved to deal with it and the diseases and pathogens that keep populations in check haven't followed suit either. Many states are making the sale and planting of plants like these invasive due to the harm they cause.
