I think one thing missing from this video is how to, you know, actually start from scratch. Something I noticed about the testimonials mentioned here is that they were all already established photographers who were moving to a new area. That's not really "from scratch" because they already have a portfolio and experience. People looking up how to start a photography business from scratch on RUclips probably don't have those things so it makes this video less helpful. Still good advice, but if I havent built a quality portfolio to demonstrate my style and brand to potential clients, the process is much longer than $21k in just one month.
Our student Dayoung had never photographed a wedding in her life plus had to move from South Korea to the UK. She quickly built up a portfolio by reaching out to couples for engagement sessions, styled shoots and 2nd shooting weddings. Built up the portfolio (mini) in 30 days. And we got her to $10k/mo in maybe 90 days. That's how you start from scratch :). Nothing fancy. In the beginning gotta connect with who you can to build the portfolio
