Welcome to the ultimate video guide to restoring a vintage motorcycle - with the classic 1961 Royal Enfield Bullet 350.
In this series I focus on the iconic English made 1961 Royal Enfield Redditch made 350 Bullet.
This video is a summary of what you can expect to see over the coming weeks and months when restoring a 1961 Royal Enfield Bullet 350. I look forward to helping as many enthusiasts as I can.
Discovered in a barn rusting away, this Royal Enfield Bullet was rescued just in time. Through sheer frustration at so many 'over-my-head' explanations on how it should be done, I decided to produce a complete technical guide to all the processes required to restore a complete Royal Enfield.
90% of all the parts were painstakingly repaired, from the Smiths clock, the tank, bakelite switches, respraying and upholstery. I also cover the 6 volt challenges and the good and bad of LED lights on a vintage motorcycle.
Yes if you are thinking about restoring an English / British made vintage motorbike then you just lucked out! It doesn’t really matter what model or brand you choose, you will learn each step on how to organise your workshop, assemble the parts and most importantly…how to setup and tune the engine and the Amal carburettor.
Every week a new video will be uploaded covering a specific topic of restoration so PLEASE SUBSCRIBE TO MY CHANNEL THEN LOOK AT THE TOP RIGHT OF YOUR BROWSER PAGE FOR A LITTLE 'BELL' ICON, CLICK TO BE NOTIFIED WHEN A NEW VIDEO IS PUBLISHED. - Авто/Мото
My dad have a 1961 model bullet but not like this model and really smooth working.Old things are always Gold❤❤👌.Good work!👏👏😍
Thank you Kiran!
The amount of labor that is love you invest in this project is priceless. I have restored 3 Royal Enfield motorcycles & owned 8 old models. I have never seen such a level of experience. You have earned a subscriber.
That’s very kind Paul! Thank you
Old royal enfield are not only motorcycle they r emotion ,love from india
Thanks Cm 👍
I'm a vintage motorcycles fan but you're a vintage god, I'm just dumbstruck and became fan for your amazing work.
Very conscientious restoration. I rescued a 1998 Bullet but it was much easier.
The sound and feeling of riding an old British thumper is amazing.
Thanks Dave, yes it’s my favourite bike out of all my more sophisticated and expensive bikes so that tells you!
Thank you for all the views and feedback. Amazing response. Keep it coming. I have a lot of videos to put out and this is motivating me!
Damn..That thumping exhaust note at the end!🔥🔥🔥
Firstly, my compliments on an excellent restoration. Also so nice to see that in addition to your technical skills, you have the other two essentials for working on British motorcycles: namely, 'a whole lot of patience, & a sense of humour. Thank you for sharing this.
Haha indeed. Many thanks Williekaslike! 🙏
This is some kind of dark magic 🤯
Congratulations, wonderful job, gone to the 60's, like a gun, ready to ride
Best Regards, from Chile, I got my Royal Enfield Meteor 350, 2022, nice and my partner
I can see nothing you replaced . Everything is restored now this is what we call a restoration. I won a 1974 Enfield b type bullet it's really heart filled watch this
Thanks Paul. Many more good stuff to come! 🙏
beautiful motorcycle outstanding restoration 💎💎💎💎💎💎💎🤔
Many thanks Thomas! 🙏
@@MyRestoration1 talent is in your hands my friend🤫
I had a '61 350 Bullet back in the late '70s.
One of the best bikes I ever owned.
One of the best motorcycle
Finally a restoration that I"m NOT pissed off about after I watch it! I get so sick of these complete tear downs, where they strip the paint and old chrome, do some sanding, fill me with hope because they've made a great start, and then they put new paint over all the pitted metal they've failed to sand out or even fill and sand. And then have the gall to paint that stupid aluminum paint over the chrome or engine parts that would have been so easy to buff to a brilliant honest metal sheen. Thank you!
Oh that’s funny 😆. You forgot to mention the mud covered rust buckets that look like they just found them..oh well I am glad you found a RUclips restoration‘sanctuary’. You sound fairly hands on yourself! Thanks for the encouragement. This is an outstanding comment. Very true and funny 👍
@@MyRestoration1 I went to a museum restoration of a steam engine. Something this museum paid thousands for.. and I called the museum and asked to speak with the curator.. long story short.. They confirmed they put it together wrong, called them back after visiting again, and the answer was Yes you are correct but it costs too much for us to change it... he he he This is a steam engine that couldn't possibly work.. in a museum thats supposed to teach how things are done
@@CrybabyArtistthat’s mad..what is the point as you say..I’ll live in my uneconomical world and restore till they are back the way the designer intended..
I got my first vintage royal Enfield 350,1986 last year on this same day and celebrating our togetherness of a year. I got my dream bike and now planning to restore it
I have recently come to India and have been the biggest fan of Royal Enfields, and especially the older ones, this video really gave me a smile :)
Yes I agree TotalySid. I took it out for a ride yesterday on the windy small English roads. Big smile. She purrrs! 👍
Check the engine tappets once, the ticking noise shall go away as well.
Anyway, what you've done is simply a work of art there.
Absolutely brilliant. Well done. I had a late 50s Bullet pass through my hands back in the mid 70s but I was young and stupid and chasing bigger stuff, so sold it on.
Now downsized to a 350 Meteor. Iroic.
Really entertaining video, thank you.
Good job sir
Thank you sir 🙏
Proud of you Rob!!!!
Thank you Mum!
Wow!
Fantastic job
Dankie ou Zuit Afrika! 🤘
this version of the bullet looks so much better
Thanks Ajay. I like it! 🙏
Young boy good job.
That's fantastic.! Almost a miracle! I couldn't do it. I could help you though. Just give me one small piece at a time! That's all I could do.
Yes, you deserve an Oscar Sir ! 💓
Thank you Sunil!
Your a lifesaver. Just picked up a 1999 Bullet. Never did one before. Triumph T120 are my thing. You do some amazing work my friend. RMM

Thank you my dear friend. Glad to share
The restoration you have done is priceless...lots of happiness to see such a great work.
Dear Sir,
I cannot tell you how happy I am to have stumbled upon your channel and video. I have inherited my Dad's, 1956 Royal Enfield 350 cc, Made in England, motorcycle. It has been in disuse and I was looking to restore it. So, looking forward to going through each of your videos and restoring my father's bike. Again, thanks a lot!
Warm Regards,
Sangram
Pune, India.
Hey Orpat007 glad I could help. You’ll notice the various ‘in detail’ videos related the this summary video which should help get the job done 👍
I'm impressed with your excellent workmanship and caring attention to every detail. Wonderful to see this '62 returned to its original beauty.
Many thanks JeanJeudi1111 🙏
awesome restoration.
It's a highly risk of work
So please upload this type of vedeos sir 👍😊
Thank you for your kind words 👍
Quite brilliant! Thank you!
That's a real nice restoration there!
It sounds a lot better then the new ones
This restoration is excellently carried out and presented. Royal Enfield still inspires admiration today. This is one of the best renovations published on the internet! I have a lot of affection for this brand. Similar to the Polish motorcycle brand "JUNAK". Similarly, they talk to us with this specific sound of a single-cylinder four-stroke engine. The sentiment for both remains unchanged. Congratulations and best regards!
Thank you Zygmunt. That’s very nice comments! I looked up the Junak. Gosh the old ones look very similar to the RE! Good bikes?
@@MyRestoration1 Excellent both motorcycle 😀.
Wonderfull Restoration 👍
I am from India 🇮🇳 I have A 1971 Model Royal Enfield Bullet 350 B1
Many thanks Farhad. Lovely bike the B1 👍

As an Indian American watching this brings back great memories of early life in Bangalore, India.Aweso.e restoration.
I though Bangaloreans are crazy for RX100
Brilliant restoration, thanks for sharing.
What an amazing job you did. Love that gauge!
Don’t you love the way it jumps! 🤦♂️ Thanks for your message
Fantastic to see the level of detail you went to and tips like using grease instead of oil. I bought a 1962 Clipper 350 at action lest year and have started stripping her down and it’s great to see what can be done. Inspirational
That’s brilliant! It’s so worth doing. They are so gentle but torquey to ride. Look at my 22 tooth front sprocket conversion. Trust me..
Go for it..you bought it for a reason. No excuse in the world should stop you..oh and share like I’ve done!
Super bullet 👍
Wow you put your love and care into this bike which led to this restoration. I actually fell asleep halfway because how pleasant the video was and how soothing. Thank you.
That’s funny. Thanks for waking up and writing to me 😂

Sweet result for your labours!
Cheers 👍
You did a spot on job with the bike !
Great work.. kudos guys 👍🏻💪🏻
Amazing restoration and a gorgeous bike. Love that Royal Enfield is now coming out with a classic 350 that on pictures atleast looks amazing. cant wait to see them in the flesh
Thanks Nifilheimur. Nothing comes as close to the original in my opinion. A solid manual, low in tech, built to last bike. Thanks for chipping in! 🙏
@@MyRestoration1 yeah no doubt but here in Norway the classic British bikes are almost nonexistent
wow!!! Magnífico trabajo!!!!
Que trabalho e som maravilhoso desta restauração , está de parabéns.
Muito obrigado Roberto 🙏

Many thanks Birendra 🙏
hai bro where the place r u restoration ? what the cost for reinvotion ?
realy i like this restoration process
@@birendrapadhy4286 this was done in the U.K. cost depends on the state of your bike and what you want us to do to it. But you are in India no?
@@MyRestoration1 o.k.
Your restoration is in next level 😊
Thank you Jayanth 👍
And beautiful superb compression
Back in the mid 70's to win bets from the uninitiated I used to start my own Reddich built 350 and 500 Bullets with a flick of my wrist on the kickstart lever it was that easy when you got the knack, later I used to do the same with my 750 Commando which surprised a few of the Japanese bike riding British bike naysayers with their electric footed engines who were of course especially critical of Royal Enfields, which had a reputation for oil leaks, although none of my engines leaked a drop of oil but which in light of that fact they still delighted in warning me that 'my engine had obviously run out of oil'!. FYI the Bullets both got a huge improvement in handling from using heavier oil in the forks, shocks off some big BSA that had harder springs and dampers and most importantly Avon Safety Mileage tyres at both ends, 350 front and 400 rear. Once the handling was really sorted the old Bullets could carry so much speed through the corners I could keep up with or beat all my friends at the time on their Triumphs and BSA's, the Avons used to wear triangular as there was not much 'go' or 'slow' to wear the tops but got plenty of hard cornering so they wore mostly on the sides, of course due to this triangular shape the handling just got bette and better and the old RE's could embarrass many a much more powerful bike wether it be British or Japanese. A Bonneville riding 'friend' said 'I was riding like a lunatic' after I just whipped his ass on a short dash from the Camden pub at Bexleyheath to Sidcup where we both lived, then he dropped me from his circle of friends and wouldn't speak to me for months heh heh, what a tosser..
Very very beautiful motorcycle. Love classic British bikes. great restoration. My dad had a Triumph Tiger Cub (199cc), he bought for £8, when I was a child, about 1966. He went all over UK on it. Wish I had it, nice video, thanks for showing us.
My pleasure 🙏
Appreciate your hard work put in to rebuild Royal Enfield. Enjoyed every second and minute of this rebuild video. I own a RE Interceptor 650 even though I am from young generation. Trust me RE has a different riding experience and that is completely different from OTHER manufacturers. Here in India RE is highest number of seller of 350 classic, GT and Interceptor and very popular with young generation. This bike are like our soul and connected.
Glad you enjoyed it Biking journey!
Excellent restoration , thank you.
My pleasure. Plenty more detail videos coming up in this series. 🙌
WHAT A BEAUTY a wonderful job well done
Thank you for writing in David 🙏
Loved it!. Could you restore my BSA D3 swingarm?... 🤣
Probably not worth it as your emoji suggests 😆
@@MyRestoration1 Eh what?
@@robleary3353 sorry no offence! what I’m suggesting is based on no info at this point.. If you can pick one up for £100 ish then if yours is damaged that’s the best route I was suggesting. Repair and restoration costs can would be a fair bit more in the case of some replacement parts for a Bantam.
Fantastic video sir.👌🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👍🏻. This is really complete restoration.
Thank you Ravi! 🙏
Great 👍 restoration .....can you please restore a 1982 royal Enfield bullet 350

That’s a beautiful motorcycle 😍
That’s very kind Thank you 🙏
I have been working on my bike for 2 years (a yamaha gt80 1979). Two days ago, having it almost ready to ride I noticed an awful and big buble in the gas tank, turns out a welding I did had a crack and once fuel entered it, it ruined my job. And now i find this video, and I feel related to you and the unforeseen problems. The issue is already being addressed! the bike will run!
