  • A compilation movie of clips taken from my various trips to Rugby during the final year of the 1980s featuring Intercity Class 90s at work on passenger services, at first in traditional loco-hauled mode with Mk2/Mk3 stock and then towards the end with the newly introduced Mk3 DVTs.
    Filmed during 1989.

Excellent. And sleek MkIIIs with a MK1 full brake tacked on the end!

Ah, 90010. The first time I saw 90010 was in c 1989 - she was at St Pancras and had been taking part in a promotional event. But she had her pantograph down, and I was told the battery was flat as well. So had to be towed away.......

smashing memories. 50 years ago we took David from here to Glasgow on a mid morning train, try doing that now. The only direct train now is at 6.45 am and one for return at 17.30 out of Glasgow. everything else goes to Birmingham. There is one train an hour that goes to Crewe. shocking really when one looks at the station refurb and how much it cost. Smashing captures from30 years ago mate, you was a bit of a zoomer then. I now go to Rugby rather than Dirft co's I can sit down....lol.

Some of these sets had two buffets. Wonder why?

Always thought the Mainline livery looked good on the 90s. Nice to see them here

I wonder how many million miles each of these 90’s have done to date .
