A delightful breed of fish. They always seem very relaxed in a tank and I think are relaxing to watch them going about their business picking at bits in the substrate.
@@TheFishNerd what light are you running? Looking for something to make the fish color pop that also will meet the needs of my planted tank that’s non injected
my largest male Peacock gugeon is bullying just about everything in my 29 gallon. my other male's tail is all chewed up along with the females. he made my snail hide to the point i had to put him in my betta tank. Only fish he doesn't mess with is the Dwarf Gourami because he would probably lose that battle. thinking about giving back the larger male if he doesn't stop soon.
Beautiful beautiful fish. I have a 300 gallon acro reef tank that i have 5 fire gobies in and these beauties look very similar to my fire fish gobies. ❤
Yeah I've got 3 about to have 6 in my 55g, and although there's bigger fish in there, they're pretty comfortable....then just a single one in my 15g pygmy corys tank.
No they wouldnt´t eat the adults. The little ones, one the other hand, maybe became food. Try to use moss or other hidden spots for the babies shrimps, so you can save some and keep them growing. Thats what i do and it works!
I swear I put a few of these in my tank they vanished for a few weeks though they had persished but now they come out with the bigger fish like it's no problem 😊
I love peacock gudgeons. I've found them really easy to breed but dad will definitely eat the fry. I pull out the cave and move it after days fanned the eggs for about 5 days.
Very interesting/informative. I love Gudgions. I have a 4 foot Aquaium (amongst others but they are spoken for) but it's only around 8 inches hight. I want Dwarf Cichlids but I also want these, do you think they could live together? Thanks from England 🇬🇧.
You can do any type of peaceful community cichlid - the issue is your tank is only 8” tall which is a big problem not having swim space. Rams are a dwarf community cichlid but I would never put them in a 8” height. Your really limited to probably your shell dweller cichlids and rock dweller cichlids.
So right, I love Peacock Gudgeon... Cannot keep the frys alive. Two reasons, dad will have a great meal... so you are totally right, we have to separate the frys from the parents very quickly. Then, it is difficult to feed the frys. They are so small....very small. Infusoria is my only solution... if I can keep my infusoria culture alive! or even started! bottom line I tried so many ways to feed the frys without success...make my so sad and so mad! Duncan Donuts depends on the circumstances but i’ve owned both and is say get the dwarf gourami. i’d say a honey gourami. they’re very inquisitive little fish and get very pretty. yes the peacock gudgeons are pretty but they’re so small... the dwarf gourami will definitely be more eye catching.
You can keep them together in my opinion as long as you have at least a 20-30 gallon tank. I think 3 peacock Gudgeons, 1 blue dwarf gourami and a dwarf pleco would make for a nice 20 gallon set up
Hello, great video. Quick question for anyone that may know, I currently have a 40 gallon breeder tank with live plants, 6 Amano shrimp, 6 Nerite snails, 6 Otocinclus and 6 Florida Flagfish(1 male). I was thinking about adding 6 Peacock Gudgeons(1 male, 5 female) and was curious on compatibility with the rest of my tank. I have a Fluval 307 canister filter, do weekly water changes and all plants and life seem to be flourishing. I want to have a comfortable habitat for all residents of the tank, would adding the peacocks be okay in this regard without getting close to overstocking?
If anyone can help, my gudgeons won't eat flakes, pellets or anything else. I ordered live food, but they wont get here for a week. What can i attempt to feed them?
top fish that i like are the peacock gudgeon, dwarf/honey gouramis, and blue/bolivan rams. but i just don’t know which ones i can pair together :( i have a very calm docile black crowntail betta in a 20 long and i don’t want him to get bullied.
With a betta, I'd say the peacocks are your best bet of those options. Depending on your betta, he may be aggressive towards them but I'd expect them to leave him alone just fine.
@@TheFishNerd I opted out and I'm keeping the gudgeons where they are, I got 7 khulis 10 pea puffers and a blue phantom pleco I'm thinking some blue raspboras or somethin
I have 8 cardinal tetras, cherry shrimp, and am planning to get maybe a pair of killis or a couple ricefish. 20 gallon tall. Would these guys be okay in a tank like this? If so, how many is a reasonable amount?
Starting a twenty gallon peacock tank soon, what substrate do you recommend for them to fit their natural habitat? And how many gudgeons I should put in if I want to have other fish in the twenty gallon, I don’t want to over crowd!
I recently acquired some Gudgeon Gobies and noticed some occasional flashing. I am considering adding salt as a precaution, but I have lots of plants and snails. Is there a safe dose of salt I can use as a prophylaxis?
Rather than letting a large number of gudgeons naturally form mating pairs, how feasible it is just to buy a male and female, put the two in a tank together -- do that automatically become a breeding pair? Also, regarding the other fish in the tank - are those zebra danios? Do danios nip the fins of the Peacock Gudgeons?
That's actually the way I've read of it being done, just adding a male and one or two females. Those are psuedomugil gertrudae, dwarf rainbows. No nipping from them but I'm not sure about all species of danios.
I have a male and he was going after and fin nipping my female betta! Now I have them in with guppies and I come home to find a dead guppy I don't know about this guy I don't know if I should risk anymore of my guppy. I just put the guppies in there yesterday and the dead guppy was fine yesterday.anyways I hope he did not kill it.
The green neons would need at least a 10 gallon. With 5 gallons you could do MAYBE one gudgeon (although 10 gallons would definitely be better). I have kept a single peacock gudgeon in a heavily planted 5 gallon in the past and it wasn't nearly as active or interesting as when I kept them in larger tanks. The shrimp would be fine in a five gallon.
Thats probably not the best for a 5 gal. You could do a pair of gudgeons in the 5 gal though or just the neons. Really depends on tank setup. I have 2 peacocks, 8 neons, 2 fire red shrimp, and 3 panda corydoras in my 15gal and they've done great so far, but I wouldn't really recommend that unless you really keep up maintenance, I also have many spots for them all and tall plants/driftwood. My peacocks have become my favorite fish though, they are so fun to watch and have such great personalities. Highly suggest them!
Yo so I got a 40 gallon with 3 yoyos 20 guppies 2 kuhlis (will get more) 3 emerald Cory's, 15 pygmy Cory's, 5 bumble bee gobies, 2 plecos and will be adding a female betta soon. The tank is well planted and has alot of rocks. Got alot of water lettuce growing and every water test I do it always stays the same without any water changes. Around 7.0 ph, 0 nitrites and 20 nitrates. Do you think the peacock gudgeons will be ok? XD
Hi. So im recently getting into the aquarium hobby. Im 16 and have been keeping fish for about 2 years and my betta has just passed and since im about to go to college soon with limited space i was thinking about keeping 2 of the peacocks in a 10 gallon with some celestial pearl danios and maybe a school of otos and kuhli loaches. Would that be be too much for a 10 gallon?
I have two peacocks that won't eat flakes or pellets. They won't swim to the top to grab the bug bites I have, nor the flakes, and the pellets are ignored. I am at my wits end here. I even offered them dried brine shrimp, and they don't pay them any mind either. I've even pinched off some brine shrimp, and put my hand in the water, in the general area of the gudgeons, and they still ignored the brine shrimp.
@@TheFishNerd I ended up buying some live daphnia. And, it's hit or miss. Picky eaters. Sometimes they'll eat the daphnia, sometimes they'll gobble them up, and then spit them right back out.
