Benjamin Zander, conductor
Beethoven: Symphony No. 5
II. Andante con moto
Recorded live in concert at New England Conservatory's Jordan Hall in February, 2019
The most underrated second movement in history.
I love it
Hardly.
I also love the 2. of the sixth.
My God, after hearing this played at the correct tempo for the 1st time. It makes me wonder what fools decided to slow this down? It’s truly magnificent.
that little variation at 6’ is like a gem on a crown! Beethoven always has something like this.
Now this is music that moves! Thank you Ben & each &every!
Enjoying the tempo and overall sound here
Those wonderfully crafted contrasts, what magnificence, what sweet delight - the music of the GODS!
always my fave movement. i feel calm when listening to it. ❤️
A version to always remember and replay
Thank you very much for brilliant interpretation and performance
Brilliant!
second movement has always been my favorite
7:55 - 8:08 is my most favorite excerpt of music ever.
absolutely gorgeous
Amazing: I was struck at the same passage when I was like 12, and who knows why I called it (especially that unexpected higher note) "the women's note". Now I'm 70 and I do know why.
love the interpretation
Very unique interpretation.
It isn't the performance. It's an anatomical theatre. Poor Beethoven.

Everybody has a British accent, German Jews, Romans, Jesus, even ancient tribes....
I have never heard of either conductor or orchestra. Now I know why.
My colleague told me about Zander's "brilliant" lecture about classical music (in TED format). Looked for it. Annoying manner, poor meaning. Still never heard about this person too. Found this recording to learn, feel and understand more. The feeling is the same.
@@Juniper059 Look for his masterclasses, I personally think they're great :)
