The love that this man showed was so tragically honorable.
Because his wife died, he turned himself into a monster that even other monsters feared.
When he learned that his son betrayed him, he respected his choice but he only showed sadness.
When one of his followers / friends showed him that his loyalty was truly real, he reminded him, just like his wife, that there is indeed good in humanity, so he saved his life even though it was completely against his wishes.
The love the Dracula had for people may have been shown in different ways but it was 100% pure, the man truly loved the people who were kind to him and those that he was kind to.

Dracula Tepes, in hindsight, has a basic trope storyline for a villain.
Lost someone, got angry, wants revenge, took it.
But he is written *VERY* very well.
His anger, loneliness, and his nonchalant behavior after that anger has died down, can be felt in all of the scenes where he stands out.
He still has empathy and still knows mercy.
His pain is well written to a point where you can relate, and that makes him a very good villain.
