You've discovered what I've been saying for months.... Years!! John Holmes is a brilliant Engineer who also loves the Hobby! His products have always reflected that.
After watching his comparison of the hw axe vs his puller pro and revolver I was sold. It’s insane how tractable these motors are. They have torque for days, are ultra smooth, and my 2700kV PP doesn’t heat up at all on my 10lbs trx6. I just ordered the PPR 4100kV to gear down/kV up and get 25mph while still having every ounce of crawling ability. And the drag brake is so strong it’ll hold my truck on the steepest sections I’ve encountered. Gotta love the control the mamba x provides. Only wish it was quiet like the hw axe, but can’t have everything.
I just installed my puller pro stubby 2700 kv, today. I went with the Mamba X esc. Smooooooth power. It's in my TRX4 kit that have a puller pro 2700 v1 with trailmaster ble esc. Can't wait to get out and crawl it.
If you ever get your hands on the 6 shooter stubby 2700kv from Holmes hobbies limited edition I would like to see a review on that, thanks for sharing this video. 🤣😂🤣👍🏻🔥😎🔥🤙🏻
Hi there bro, in the actual video what esc were u using and with the micro X since it diesnt have a sensord cable or module does it still crawle buttery smooth ? with the stubby ?
I swear by Holmes Hobbies motors I have that same 2700Kv stubby in my poor man’s VS410 chassis on 3s controlled using a MambaX esc it runs circles around my SCX10 with almost the same setup and a castle slate 3100Kv motor eventually that rig will be getting Holmes hobbies power as well
I know this video is old but HH will not warranty servo's you power buy the balance plug. Put a JST aux plug in the main power supply for the ESC and done.
Love the videos. Very detailed. Do you have any recommendations for a losi rock rey. I would love to low speed crawl it without losing the high speed running.
I am old and may have missed it but what is the link to the servo and the little adapter wire to connect it directly to the battery? I may try to put this or something like this in my Gen8. I like the idea of going sensored, brushless in my crawler and directly to the battery with the servo always makes sense. This setup appears to be quite affordable and I buy quite a bit from AMain. Brett is My Friend!
So this runs great with the Castle X Micro? At $75 + the motor at $85 that’s not a bad deal. You do have to buy the castle link though but my guess is if you buy from John direct he would program it for you
Ive never heard of John programming anything for anyone just because they purchased from him, not to mention nothings ever in stock on his website. at any rate how can Holmes program your motor for your needs, your terrain your truck its weight etc etc. programming is something you do for your needs, you might need to reprogram something while your litterly on the trail day to day, hour by hour ...
HKGuy #1 sure, and I guess my main piece of feedback for Castle products in general is they should include the version of the castle link that hard wires to a computer. I know a lot of folks already have Castle Links from previous use of Castle products, but in some cases folks like me have never had a Castle system. This is quite similar to my other hobby which is Astronomy and Celestron doesn’t include the special cable to upload the handset firmware. These cables are likely well under $10 to make and should be included
@@jonthomas8487 The castle B-link is $50.00 dollars most anywhere, however when you buy a new castle esc they always include a coupon for a Free castle link usb. personally I would prefer the B-link so you can change settings on the fly, but the Free usb gets it done, you just have to do the stupid coupon... 👍🏼
HKGuy #1 cool. For me it’s just set and forget and if I can copy off someone else’s settings even better. That’s what I did with my HW1080. To each his/her own. I’m not a tinker, but some are
@@jonthomas8487 Ha Ha, I hear ya that makes sense lol (cheach there own) in your scenario the best thing for you to do, would be to go to your local hobby store. most of the hobby stores have the usb link & generally theyll program it for you at no charge..
Hi Francis, whats the name of the plug that goes from the lipo to the servo if you wouldn't mind? Thats the only part I didn't see listed.. Thanks Brother
Hey man could you please send me a link it tell me the exact name of the adapter for the two lead servo to the balance port of the lipo please the only adapter i can find is from China and takes there months to get here. I want to run my hv servo to it's own lipo and i love that balance port adapter 👍👍 thank you
To be fair it will probably never give you a problem though. Mostly it's the plugs wearing out. If it a continuous 5 amps for 10 hours it would be a fire hazard.
I have had a couple of lipos off balance and to cut down on charging/balancing time I have charged one cell at a time through the balancing leads @2A. I have tried @3A but the leads got rather warm so I chickened out on that. I would never connect my Protek 370 to the balancing lead.

I run the HH 2700 stubby in my TRX4 Sport with the CC Mamba x mini just a great product from Holmes......
Yes, such great quality and support from these guys. Great modulation but insane power on the ready
I have my drag brake set to slow 100% on my trx6... It's instantaneous at low speeds and nice and progressive when the motor is spun up.
Dude... it’s Asian Jeff Goldblum! His mannerism is spot on love it 🤣
I hear that mentioned that before. I should watch that guy on his show.

I was thinking more of an asian Christopher walken lol
I'm pretty sure the thumbs-down is from Hobbywing Fan-boys.
Hahaha
I just got a "team spec" Puller Pro Stubby v2 2700kv, need to get a rig ready to run with it!
Waiting on my puller pro to get here next week

Can you confirm if the puller pro stubby supports 4S I cant find any voltage specs on the website for that model. Thanks in advance.
Looks like a beast of a motor!
You think I can run the micro x and this stubby motor on an scx10 3. Or would it Buena with a mamba x
Power is like money and time. There is never enough😄
Does power corrupt?

That'll be good in the Vs410 Pro
Great Vid and info on those motors. 😎😎😎😎😎
Right on, thank you. We'll do some creative testing until we can get a motor dyno to measure motor power curves.
Can I run the motor with the micro X with a stock server or do I still have to run power to the server ?

Thank you so much My Friend and I'll add another 👍 (#223) from this channel too!
I love the Holmes hobby motors
They all deliver, even the brushed for $20. This Stubby one is legit.
What timing should I do on the motor itself for a reverse rotation setting?
Will the Sidewinder 3 esc work with that motor?

Can I use the mamba x micro with this?

I'm still trying to find a replacement motor for my element..I'm running the stock trx-4 motor right now.
This stubby for brushless or a Crawlmaster for brushed
i used to run a holmes trailmaster but run a holmes puller pro now, great torque and crazy smooth if geared correctly.
Nice one!!

How do I hookup the 3 wires on motor to my 1080 hobbiewing.?
You dont. Not made for a "brushless" motor. You need a different esc

Do you have a link to the other videos? Would really love to check them out.
I'm just not keen on the sound they make at slow speed
Yes that is the big downside of this motor.

So John, how much did these reviews cost you? 😂
(Btw great products, i bought the stubby v2 the day it was released, together with shv500v3, long before the reviews where out).
it cost him 3 engines most likely
The cost is always the same. Make a decent product. :-)
