Great video. Not every post has to be about finances or about challenges in retirement. Nice to see videos about what the average retiree is dealing with and how they enjoy retirement.

As a Veteran myself, thanks for recognizing those who never made it home. Their families will be will be in my thoughts and prayers this weekend. You have a great channel and community of followers, and I appreciate the variety of content you produce. It sets you apart from those who focus mainly on the finance side of retirement.
Awe Buzz! You should have shown the viewers the end product out of that Pit Barrel Smoker! We have one and it works perfectly everytime. Family and friends absolutely love the ribs we can produce. Lastly sir... don't leave us hanging about the charcoal switcheroo you tried. The Pit Barrel was supposedly engineered for use with Kingsford charcoal (because that brand is so readily available in most places) and I'm curious as the dickens about how your double sized Costco briquettes fared!!
Welcome! I don't edit video so I would have needed to make two videos to see the before and after. The charcoal was a 75% Kingsford and 25% Costco brand charcoal so it's not really a fair test. I will say, without scientific stats, that it may have burned a bit hotter since the ribs were done in under 3 hours. But, I won't know for sure until next time. I'll put my digital thermometer wire inside next time to monitor temp. Thanks for stopping by! Buzz

People can be so goofy. Like you said ~ you don't like it . . . move on . . . viewers aren't paying for subscriptions or obligated to view and they're not getting college credits to watch. I think some folks don't get the concept that this is a channel about how YOU are doing retirement (not all financial-related), getting input from viewers, AND that this is a community of virtual retired (or soon-to-retire) friends. I don't get how the ribs don't fall off the hook. YES ~ deepest thanks to all who served, I don't take our freedom for granted. It's not a perfect country ~ but it's a great country.

Ah, I don't know about that. People finding out I spit all over the wood would be scared to eat my food! Lol.
Hello Buzz, Smokers and grillers need to know what you think of the peach rub. I’ve looked at it at sams but just haven’t been able to talk myself into it. It doesn’t seem like a natural combination. Haha
I didn't mark which one had which but I can tell you in my large sample test, all three were really good. Since it's mostly brown sugar, the faint peach smell/taste makes it taste good! Get some! Buzz
Do the ribs remain enough structure to hang by the hook and not pull apart and fall down onto the charcoal?
Never had one drop off the hook. If they are heavy slabs, you put two hooks in. Length wise, not side by side. By the way, they were good! Buzz
Baby back is the only way to go. More meat. I make my own rub along with doctor upped Sweet Baby Rays.
I like them better than St Louis ribs. Sweet baby Ray's was all we used for years. Found this one and never went back. G Hughes has a good sauce too. Thanks for watching! Buzz
Enjoy your videos .. I retired this Year and relate to your less stressful lifestyle .. wish you much success and happiness in the future .. let us know how the ribs turned out ..
Congratulations on your retirement and the ribs were excellent! Probably some of the best I've made. Stress is so overlooked and yes, this new part of my life is fantastic! What do you think of it so far? Buzz
Retirement is a state of mind .. your enthusiasm is contagious! You appear to be enjoying this new part of your life .. thanks for sharing your retirement with us .. keep on smiling 😃
@@jamessargent3778 I was asking what you thought of your retirement so far? I didn't word it correctly. What ups and downs have you experienced so far?
Retirement life is good .. devoted this year to improving my overall health and well being .. exercise, eating fruits and vegetables, meditation .. more USA travel to see and experience our great Country .. more ups than downs each Day .. would like to get more involved with the Community and have more Social interaction ..
@@jamessargent3778 Good answer!
Was those 3 racks of ribs all in that one package you showed yesterday? If so that wasn't a bad deal.
Yep. Three racks. I ate an entire rack myself. Pig eats pig. Lol. Costco also skins them so you don't have to mess with the silver skin. Buzz
@@BuzzRetirementGarage Nice!. I bet they were good!
I bet those ribs tasted great Buzz! Is your smoker just for ribs or you can also smoke salmon? Your video made smoking food super easy.
It has a grilling grate too so I can cook on it or smoke. It's great for burgers because any flare ups don't touch the meat! Have a good weekend and holiday. Buzz
@@BuzzRetirementGarage Thank you, Buzz for the info. Got me interested in getting a smoker, very versitle to cook various proteins. Have a great holiday weekend!
@@CarmenFatima Enjoy every day!
Always love your input because it's always spot on! Thank you!
Any leftovers?😊
Not this time but I can deliver next time if you're in a 50 mile radius of me! Buzz

What a nice way to spend the afternoon , I wish I was your neighbor love the smell of food cooked outside. I grill outside all year long. Hope my neighbors enjoy my cooking too. You have a nice garden and huge yard . I’ll be doing a steak tonight too. I’m glad you’re really enjoying your life and sharing your days in retirement I don’t know where you get the energy to do so many videos and ideas. But they really all nice.
Good thing I'm still young. Lol. Five years from now I may be telling a different story. Everytime I smoke ribs the neighbor comes home and asks what I'm cooking. If I say ribs, he knows he's getting some. He'll be happy today! Buzz
You are doing a great job with the videos! Don’t let anyone rain on your parade. Been retired for 7 years now. Afternoons got a bit long for me so I took a very easy part-time office job - 11 to 3 - four days a week and I can take off whenever I want for our couple of trips each year. Perfect fit for me!
@@kathyd7284 that’s gotta be really nice having a working schedule you picked plus knowing of you feel like it you can totally hang it up on your terms. No pressure , awesome life. Congrats to you
@@kathyd7284 I just shake my head on how some people think. But, to each his own. Glad you found a good job that works for you! Buzz
Do you know why George Washington cut down the Cherry Tree? He wanted to smoke some baby back ribs with cherry 🍒 wood.
Wouldn't surprise me! Lol. Buzz
The price of charcoal has gotten ridiculous in this inflation infested economy
1960, 1970, you don’t like what’s on TV, change the channel. You got 2 others. Nice job on the video. Oh, and my wife told me to tell you, you have nice legs.
I forgot that I did a full body video. No one should be seeing my bow legs. Lol. Buzz
Great job buzz you will have people who like your video and people who don’t key is you do what you like to do. I like enjoy watching your videos I just retired 4 years ago and started to learn how to play the guitar 🎸 keep them coming your videos 😊
@@Red23165 Thank you. What's the first song you're learning on the guitar?
@@BuzzRetirementGarage AC/DC Hell not a bad place . I just started to learn around 2 years ago. Always wanted to learn the guitar as part of my hobby being retired. I’m doing all my own not easy but it’s fun and I enjoyed doing like challenged myself. As I mentioned, I’m 65 years old and retired 5 years ago when I was 60 years old age is just a number if you want something go out and get it and key is to have fun and enjoy that my goal I realize I’m at the last chapter of my life while I’m still able to do things I want to challenge myself and have fun thank you.
@@Red23165 Excellent attitude!
