Another of John Farnham's performances to enjoy: LISTEN TO THE WIND, Live of course. A bit different to many of his, but he kills it as usual! Enjoy

Little River Band started in 1975…. With original lead singer Glenn Shorrock…..there are plenty of songs to discover from them….. they also had other band members sing Beeb Birtles…. And then eventually Wayne Nelson ( Bassist) who is now to this day lead singer of LRB….. Help is on its way, Reminiscing, Home on a Monday, Happy Anniversary, Lady, Emma, Cool Change, Love is a Bridge, Shut Down Turn Off, The Other Guy.

Thanks Ron, love your John reactions (also love your Erik Satie introduction, it's a lovely way to enter the video!).
Yeah, gotta say with this one John does a better job of it in his later solo concerts - he actually wrote this one, so kept playing it as a regular in his concerts.
For his stuff with LRB, the best songs imo are Reminiscing (search "little river band - reminiscing remastered" and choose the one with John's face and the text on the bottom of the screen :) ), and the other one I think you might enjoy is We Two (search "We Two - Little River Band (1983)"). For John's later performances of Playing to Win which are live and beautifully high-energy, try his version from the Chain Reaction tour (search "John Farnham - Playing to Win (High Quality)"). He also has a great version with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, but unfortunately that video seems to have been blocked.
Sorry for the long-winded search terms, but RUclips loves to remove my comments with links! Thanks again for your reactions. :)

Thank you, Saan. I really appreciate the support. I'm thinking of dropping the Erik Satie intro though just in case at some point they decide to block all of my videos because of it! Could be a massive problem since I can't back up so many videos. Thank you for the suggestions and information. I've printed it off for future reference. 🙂

    Reminiscing with John

The best song John ever wrote. Unfortunately by thr time the LRB machine git their hands on it he only ended up with 55% of it. His solo, live performances of this song do it a lot more justice.
Betyer ones from his LRB days are Reminiscing, We Two, The Other Guy, and Down on the Border. ❤

Wow, I'm not sure if they used the album version audio on this (surely, they must have) but it seems a bit lifeless compared to what I'm used to hearing on the radio - maybe its the terrible music video distracting me. 😂 Love this song live, Farnsy certainly has fun with it.

Playing To Win is about John’s frustration with some of Little River Band members.
John wrote the lyrics and most of the music but other members wanted a piece of the pie , because they thought John just may have written a worldwide hit song the expectations for high even the producer was credited but unfortunately Playing To Win didn’t chart within the top 50 in Australia and USA . Diehard LRB fans didn’t like the change in musical direction for the band LRB before Playing To Win was more harmony yacht rock band . Hardcore LRB that didn’t like the more synth rock style and blamed John for the change in musical direction.
Playing To Win since it’s - 1984 release the song was pick up by Australian sporting programs and events has used it as promotion song , it has become a sporting anthem in Australia .
It’s the only LRB song that stayed on John’s solo concert set list for every concert.

Hmm! I’m not too sure who dressed the guys and shot this but it’s not like the band or Johns usual down to earth style it’s meh, but that doesn’t alter the great sound from the band and J.F.thankfully.

Not the best video of this song. John does a better version in later LIVE concerts. He co-wrote this song about the politics and jealousy stuff going on in the band. He was not happy there. Some in the band tried to 'clip his wings" (and even tape down his microphone stand!) He also wrote, 'Let Me Out', which says it all. Some of the band members followed him into being in his later band and you'll see them in the live concert videos.

I don't have a problem with the audio, but I agree the video is crap. Very 80,s John looks a bit like Billy Idol.😂 Maybe check out another version. John is still the best singer ever.
