    I think "dystopian" has more political connotations, I mean, yes, things go to hell, but mostly regarding government. freedom of speech, basic human rights, things among that line. If it is just "things went to hell" it could be, like natural disasters, civilization gone to hell, no government at all, and that will be post-apocalyptic. I think. And those 2 are different genres.

      That's a nice and well thought distinction, I highly agree.
      Also, Dystopian is an older genre and more "adult" reads, while there's a lookout of post apocalyptic YA for the last decade.
      With a subgenra of zombies, with World War Z and Walking Dead heavily contributing to the trend.

      I disagree, what she said is pretty spot on. Look up the definition of dystopian bro🤦🏻‍♂️i don’t need to i already know what it means but it seems like you need a refresher cause like she said it could be any reason the world has gone to shit or part of the world went to shit whether it’s due to natural disasters or the government or both or just all out war from all governments it’s all dystopian futures

    Dystopian: set in the future, a corrupt government ruins everything

    • @binocularbooks6295
      @binocularbooks6295 4 года назад +3

      Actually, a dystopian is a place (bad) set in anytime, but usually the future and it doesn't have to have a corrupt government, for example How to Bee, set when the world's bees have died out, it was actually not very bad.

I got it and I was so hooked that I couldn’t wait to read what came after. It was a little like hunger games, a little like divergent and a little like maze runner. But it was an amazing book. I’m hoping they’ll turn it into a movie soon. Lol

    A really good series I 100% recommend is The Lunar Chronicles. It has 4 books in the series and they get better each time. The characters are based off of fairy tales. For example: Cinderella, little red riding hood, Rapunzel and Snow White. It has a bit sci-fy but like damn. It's action packed with cute couples. It has its own unique plot. I freaking love the series. I'm not the best at review stuff, search it up for better description because I suck. But read it now. You can thank me later.

    Back in middle school I read Uglies for a school project, and it was decent but I wasn't in a rush to read the next books. I always feel so incomplete when I move on from an unfinished series, but idk... are the books after Uglies on the same level as Uglies, or better? If it's on the same level I might ditch them, tbh...

    My English teacher showed us a video in Dystopias and particularly on Orwell's 1984. I don't know the source but it basically described Dystopian genre by telling the original intention of the genre.
    When describing what you would deem to be a 'Utopia', many people disregard what it would take to achieve this. Dystopian genre is based off of what you would need to do do in order to achieve an appeared utopia. For example, if in Utopia everyone follows the same rules and live together harmoniously then you would need to kill anyone who doesn't do this or at least get rid of them. In other words: A Utopia is built on the backs of a Dystopia.

  • @mads4343
    @mads4343 3 года назад

    i highly recommend the murder complex books. it’s a series with only 2 books and there is a prequel which i haven’t read yet, but the books are SO GOOD! it’s a really interesting plot that takes place in what’s called the Shallows, which is one of many testing sites. the main characters are Meadow and Zephyr; Meadow has been trained to survive all her life, and Zephyr is something called a ward, which later in the book they realize means something more. the initiative kills hundreds of people each night due to overpopulation in the shallows, and the fact that they don’t have enough resources. all meadow wants to do is protect her family, especially her little sister Peri, but little does she know her mother made it impossible for her to have a normal life. it’s an amazing book, and later in the first book it starts to get super addicting.

    If you're a fan of Amy Tintera's Reboot series and others and you want more of them, they have a new series and the first book is All These Monsters and it's part of a duology and I heard it's pretty good. It's not part of the Reboot duology though. Also Scott Westerfeld has a new series that jumps off and continues the Uglies series which is called Imposters. The newest conclusion to the series is coming next year so now is the time to read it!
    Also have you read the bonus book Extras? It seems interesting.

    Try out the 5th Wave trilogy the 3rd book also set it apart for me (the movie does not do it justice)
    Also try Life as We Knew It. Almost cried and it's truly sad and scary in a can someday happy way.
    One Second After (very sad) but recommended by Congress as what could realistically happen if the US were it by an EMP. It's a stand alone book I think.
