I have mostly single-battery lights/torches. And switched over all my single-AA torches to ones that take both AA and 14500 batteries. (Personally, I don't care for the 18650 form factor). So, when the 14500 dies, I can toss a AA in, and get going. I carry AA's for backup of other gear already. So I like the comparability.

Ooooh, nice! Sometimes, you just need a light that doesn't depend on a Recharge. I'm sure there's a few people down Houston way who have AA/AAA Batteries and 18650 lights and wish they had an Old School light available when their 18650 died out and no Electricity was there. Thanks Ben.

The instructions say to use only "High quality" batteries. Are Rayovac Alkaline ok?

Better if you use lithium primary batteries or NiMH rechargeable batteries. That's because alkaline batteries work more poorly at high currents, and might leak
