Lukanski has a great sense of accomplishment not only in Rachmaninoff but also in Chopin. The barcarolle that he played beautifully captured my heart. It made me feel like I was rowing as a boatman.
I visited Venice in only summer of this year. This piece is, just like Chopin intended it to be, as if you are rowing down the grand canal. Lugansky brings out this almost hauntingly beautiful warmth, especially in the coda for me. One of my favourite interpretations for certain.
lugansky is so ridiculously good. he's such a complete pianist.
I think many Russian pianists are good. Such as Luganksky, Kissin, Richter.
