A ride on the Big wheel, Trampolining on the beach, buying an Ice Cream, shots of the ferry boat and seeing an Aviation Traders ATL.98 Carvair Aeroplane on the airport runway operated by British United Airways.
British United Airways was a private, independent British airline formed as a result of the merger of Airwork Services and Hunting-Clan Air Transport in July 1960, making it the largest wholly private airline based in the United Kingdom at the time.

Founder: Freddie Laker

Ceased operations: 1970 (bought by Caledonian Airways)
My Grandparents moved there in the 50s, so I grew up in Ramsgate in the 70s. Emigrated to New Zealand in 1979 and didn't re-visit till 1999. Stayed a year, got depressed and went back to NZ.
The beach was still like this vid when I was a kid. Mind you, it was always pretty miserable in winter.
Lots of the British coastal towns seem to have been allowed to decay.
Yes sadly they have.
Very Nostalgic
The featured young girl is probably 71 now ..goes quick doesn't it.
Wow I went on those trampolines many times , played in pleasurama and stardust and got hotdogs from Caton's tea stall and chips from harrisons cafeteria and we had to use those victorian underground toilets !
I also left home in 1968, aged 16. I had a job 80 miles away. So was well employed. We therefore must be same age....
You should see Ramsgate now😢😢😢😢😢😢
I did some 20 years ago and it was not good but I was hoping that there had been investment and that it had improved?
I'd rather not but there are some similar images on YT of Gaza.
Nice beach, but no more pleasure park, so there's not much to keep people entertained
I did nine years ago, when Nigel Farage came second in South Thanet. Their HQ was in Ramsgate. It's a bit run down here and there, I suppose. Could be worse.
Not so good now. Too many houses being built.
Love your video by the way.
Thank you!
Very nice😊
Yes, great times.
Excellent footage. The music does not really evoke the era, though.
Yes, it's very difficult to use the music of the time as RUclips demands that I only use Royalty free tracks supplied by them or I get copyright strikes!
@@mackenzierough Thanks for getting back to me. I understand the issues better now. All the best!
@@mackenzieroughwhat happens with copyright strikes?
@@christislord2832 Channel closure at worst!
@@mackenzierough thank you …I’ve only, by accident, just now found out how to see replies to my posts on you tube lol 😂 x x x
Wow the people are all white!
My thoughts exactly
That's why it was safe and clean.
Er - but hold on - where are all the ethnics?
Haven’t we been told that Britain has always been multicultural??
You mean - they fibbed??
Oh no 😂
The people that say that are either too young to know or were not in the country at that time.
Happy safe days.
I runaway from home at 16 in 1968 and ended up in ramsgate working at Mickys Bingo just by the entrance to Pleasurama
@@whitelines3097 I can still remember a young man working in the bingo hall and Helter Skelter with a Mickey mouse tattoo on his arm.
@@smurftastic3928 not me
Is the girl your sister?
Was Ramsgate a port back then? Airport too?
Yes, you could take a ferry to France.
@@mackenzierough Yes, I believe it stopped in 2013. Seems very recent.
It never had an airport.
@mackenzierough Not wishing to upset you Mr Rough. But Ramsgate had it own civil or municipal airport, between 1935-1939 and 1953-1968. There flights to and from Belgium. It had an art deco club house too.
@@therespectedlex9794 I'm not upset and if you knew all that why ask me?
We have to spend our hard earned money on mass immigration. Don’t be so selfish., these doctors and engineers need hotel rooms. Why would we want a beautiful country, as it used to be, when we can have multi culturalism?
