I worked for one month in the UK and visited whitby every weekend. It was a really rough time for me back then with many private problems and whitby gave me a lot of comfort. It makes me really happy and emotional to see this place again. Thank you for bringing back these good feelings
My Mum is from Staithes , but grew up in Whitby . I lived in Withernsea . Visited Whitby and Scarborough on many occasions . Thank you for this . Loved watching and I’m gonna be taking my grown up daughters and my current partner up . As I’m back where I was born in Staffordshire
I love Whitby and I loved the walk. Seeing the reflections of buildings in the sea always makes me smile. You were lucky to have such a lovely sunny day of filming! I had never seen a boat needed to go under the bridge before, very interesting. Thanks for sharing! Now if I could only get some Trenchers fish and chips delivered here across the big pond! That would make my day even better! :)
Lived here all my life and walking up on the cliff late at night and through the town never gets old. On the right night, when the stars are out, it feels like you're the only person on the planet.
I haven't been for years since 2013, I do love the east coast so many wonderful happy memories when I was a Kid, the boat looks like a dredger, I will have to visit whitby when I have finished my chemotherapy, when It Is warmer
I love Whitby and have visited many time in my 75 years but have never seen the bridge open. I always assumed it was a lift bridge not a swing bridge, you learn something every day even at my age :-) I always found parking near the centre difficult but am glad to see more disabled parking spaces, time for another visit soon.
When I went once whilst the Whitby Regatta was on the streets were packed. Over on the East side there are some great shops and walks not just on the Abbey but around it. Many little byways along the dock side of there as well lead to lots of Fishermens cottages. There is a famous pie shop somewhere along the East side and apparently even the toilets in there are grandly tiled. We have noticed a lot of cliff erosion since the 1970's but the character still remains.

Amazing stuff! I've been to Whitby last year during the summer and we camped up the hills near Dracula's castle! I really love your videos so much! I like how that boat went through the bridge it was so cool! Last time we went to Whitby, was that we had to go down the pier and take a look at the view far away! I've always love Whitby and the sound of the seagulls. I wish I could go back this year!
What an entertaining video. I am glad you filmed the Whitby Bridge opening up for the boat to get through. There are a lot of cafes, restaurants...one will not "starve." I was looking for the "199 stairs" but must have missed them. Keep up the good walk.
