      if mouth opening permits, extraction and i&d should be performed simultaneously. when there is trismus, first i&d should be performed through extraoral or intraoral approach. once mouth opening improves you can go for extraction.

      inferior most part of swelling or abscess...incision in this area facilitates complete drainage of pus by gravity
