yes ....there are some limitations yet it is the basic thing to assess dental pathology. Its accuracy also depends on using correct horizontal angulation while taking iopa ..incorrect horizontal angulation result in overlapping which makes iopa unsuitable in assessing interproximal caries. in periodontitis cases also you cant decide exact pattern of bone loss.
