Hi wolf hunterz family travis and suzi. due to overwhelming demand in the comments section, i just had to add this magical performance to my john farnham tribute. it is from the main event concert in 1998 and is a spectacular duet with olivia newton john.
When John heard his lifelong friend had passed. His wife said he just crumbled on the floor and sobbed. Their friendship was legendary
Love comes in more than just Romantic. Their friendship is legendary.
For a brief moment I forgot we have lost Olivia and John is so unwell atm. Wonderful performance together. John and Olivia were friends for decades. Your reaction at the end was priceless. ❤️🇦🇺

Maybe there was a natural chemistry but both remained happily married to their respective partners & devoted to their friendship. Both also have acting experience & know how to sell a moment & are genuine people so, yes, we know. RIP Livvy ❤️

I've had the privilege of watching live this performance.

Been to many live concerts.
Sadly days after the world was shocked with Oliver's death, John was diagnosed with his own mouth cancer.
After over 7 hours in surgery with jaw reconstruction, and removing the cancer, plus treatment. John and Jill's two sons insure the world, that John is doing ok. Answered prayers for sure...
Omg he kissed her!!!! I just died of shock.
But he has being happily married for a very long time. No question of loyalty to his wife.
John recorded this song as a single and it was good, but this duet blows it out of the water.
Of course Farnsey loves Olivia all Australians do and I don't know any male who wouldn't want to plant a smooch on her given the chance , but have no fear John loves his wife with a passion and despite all the girls throwing themselves at him for literally decades goes home to her every night . A great reaction to a great song by two spectacular Aussie icons , thank you .

John is a bloke we call true blue, he’s loyal, grateful respectful of musicians his supporting artists have been with him forever they are like family. Jill Johns wife has been his best support act she’s wonderfully grounded and has a wicked sharp sense of humour they have been married for 49 yrs with not a breath of scandal. John and Olivia’s friendship goes way back they have both been very supportive of each other’s careers for ever, John will be missing Olivia dreadfully they shared a wonderful loving friendship.
Without knowing either personally, and presuming to speak for either of them.. John and Olivia weren't acting, they had a deep friendship and love for each other, but a tender kiss in a beautiful moment was possible because they respected each other, and the tenderness of the song almost called for it. Their relationship had something missing from so many relationships today.. a tender love that never needed to exceed its bounds.
A simple way I know all this.. John has been married to his wife for a very long time, was married during this performance, and it would have been disrespectful for that kiss to be more than it was.. and the John Farnham we all know here in Australia, is a gentleman.

To my knowledge John and Olivia did love each other but never romantically. But they were both brilliant at injecting true emotion into their vocals. I love this performance, it brings a tear to my eye every time 🥲🥰

Tearing up that in the same week we essentially lost both these voices. So glad recordings exist.
They undoubtedly loved eachother. Deeply. That's why that song was a perfect duet for them. You don't have to be in bed together obviously but no doubt their partners understand their love. They were kindred spirits in my eyes.
The chemistry between them is absolutely amazing. Of course they’ve been friends for years and both happily married to their respective partners. This is absolutely stunning. I was actually at that concert. It was called The Main Event, Fantastic. RIP Olivia and get well soon. John.❤️
Our dear Olivia died of cancer 2 months ago. Now, John has his own battle with cancer and has been married happily to his wife Jill since 1973! The third person in that concert, Anthony Warlow, has also survived cancer! All 3 are Australian treasures in the music industry. They had a ball doing this series of concerts together. Not sure if you know, but Olivia played 'Sandy' in Grease.
So much class in this performance. The chemistry, their vocals are extraordinary
Don't forget Livvy and John are part of each other's family. Deep down he knows he will lose her anytime because of her cancer battle. She fought it so hard and for so long. They are just close mates with mutual respect for each other. As all have said John is totally devoted to wife Jilly and his family values. A true gentleman and she was a true lady. Respect to both, they commanded the stage for decades with style... John would be devastated over her death 😪 he loved her but wasn't in love with her. They do have chemistry together 🤗

They did sell it. It was great acting... delivered both physically and vocally. Don't think for a moment, though, that it was more than that. John and his wife Jilly are very much in love, and faithful.

Greatest friends for decades, but not romantically. Tears of sadness as we have lost our beautiful Olivia, and now John is battling mouth cancer after 12hr surgery 😢😢
This is from the Main Event that John toured with Livvie and one of our premiere opera singers Anthony Warlow... they did solo sets... John did a set with Livvie...then with Anthony... the other two did the same... then they all got together and did a set with the three of them... It was one of the best concerts I've ever been to (twice) and it was entertaining from beginning to end (over 3hrs)... the vocals were stunning... the humour was...well... John and Anthony think they're funny... (poor Olivia)... Australia is very blessed to have had the opportunity to see these guys (and many other Aussie artists/bands) live in concert.... we are very spoilt... Also side note... Olivia had already had her first struggle with Cancer...and Anthony had also had his with non hodgkins lymphoma... Now John is beginning his - we have everything crossed...Edit : I just realised you've already done a couple of the main event vids... thank you !!!
I was hoping you would do this song. They are lovely together. The next song in that concert was You’re the One that I want from Grease. At the end Olivia says to John that he is the other John in her life (making reference to her friendship with John Travolta).

Her third husband was John Easterling, but he may have come later in her life. I can't remember when she met originally him.
I think you may be right about JT being the other John at the time of this concert though.

It’s hard to remember that this song wasn’t originally a duet. They sold it alright, yes very much like musical theatre.
They've been good friends for decades and had a very similar history. Both came out from England as kids. She came out when she was about 5 or so and he was about 10 I think. She was born first in 1948 and him in 1949, and both ended up in Melbourne, Victoria. Both started their 'careers' on Melbourne TV in the 1960's with Olivia and her friend Pat winning a singing contest and going to England. John had opportunities to go to the US but wanted to stay working in Australia. As the years went on, they caught up with each other as friends and worked together. Apart from this concert I really loved them together in the opening ceremony of the 2000 Sydney Olympics singing to the athletes DARE TO DREAM.
Brilliant performance by two Aussie legends. The kiss at the end was perfect and beautiful. But John is happily married to Jill for decades but yes the chemistry with Olivia is undeniable.

They both come from the 60’s/70’s when you put all your emotions into singing. John was already married when they met each other. They said so in an interview. John and Olivia are very friendly people and enjoy great relationships with their friends. As is seen by the outpouring of love to both of them recently.

My heart is broken to see that Olivia Newton John and Judith Durham have passed up by. Two of the great singers in the Australian pantheon of music. Both made the world their own.
Both have known each other as friends since 1968. Folk lore has it they met in England but they have said that they aren't certain. Farnham is still married to Jillian Billman whom he married in 1973. Both Olivia and John were early members of the early pop scene on Australian TV and at dance clubs. They were great mates (friends) up until Olivia died on 8th of August 2022.

Two very long term best freinds. Huge amount of trust, respects and also love. This concert was all about John supporting two of his best freinds to get back on their feet after they had recovered from cancer. Olivia said in an interview, that she thought she was done and her career was over...and then John encouraged her to get back on the horse and asked her to tour with him. These two were freinds before he met his wife Jill but never anything romantic. The first time he saw Jill he was smitten he's never looked at anyone ever since. Now that is a true love story ....

They were good friends. I’m sure it was a great loss for John when Olivia passed. It was extremely sad for all off us as Australians - what a beautiful woman inside and out …. inside counts more. John is a wonderful man and has a wonderful wife. ❤🥰. Love you guys 👍❤️💕💋💋

They have a connection but I think the song rings true. I will post a link to this on John's Fan Page and hopefully John may get to see it when he is convalescing. Americans seeing the kiss always expect they were romantically involved, but in Australia a kiss on the cheek doesn't signify a romantic bond. It is something friends and relatives do and especially those in the artistic community. They were the best of friends, who supported one another through tough times, it was a kiss expressing love, admiration and gratitude.
He’s had a very loving and respectful marriage to his wife. So honoured to see this (relationships are very personal). I believe that they had a good friendship ... nothing beyond that. This is a performance guys between two mates ❤

You didn't see that coming. The number of times I've watched reactions to this duet, and the complete surprise by those reacting. I was lucky to see this concert, when it was performed at the Entertainment Centre in Adelaide, South Australia.

Yes! Thank you. These two have raised so much money for people in need. I didn’t know this was one of John’s songs until my daughter won a singing contest singing this. She announced who it was before she went. Even the judges didn’t know he sang like that. One judge said she didn’t like John but after hearing it she was going home to listen to more.
They have great chemistry and they both started out young together. No, there has only been Jilly in John’s life from very young. Olivia has the same chemistry with John Travolta. Olivia went to his birthday dinner along with her husband, a month before she died. Or hers?
The entire Main Event concert was and is amazing. As Travis said it is a mixture of concert and theatre. Anthony Warlow was the other performer in The Main Event. He and John have both performed in musical theatre, Anthony was Australia's original, Phantom, and Olivia in musical films. There are quite a few songs from musical theatre in the concert as well as rock and pop. You should watch Olivia perform Don't Cry For Me Argentina from Evita which she did on this show. Suzi will love it.
John had also played Jesus in Jesus Christ Superstar, so they've all had a crack at acting and musical theatre. Definitely not lovers though.

They have known each other since they were teenagers and worked on the same 2 or 3 music shows at the beginning of their careers. John's 50th wedding anniversary is around now and he is a real family man. I have no doubt that they have great affection for their >50 year friendship but they have both done musical theatre and are consumate performers too.
I really hope for a full recovery. Mr Farnham is borned to be on stage. Rip Olivia.

This was another performance from The Main Event concert featuring John, Olivia and Anthony Warlow where they perform individual hits, perform in duet or trio and includes a range of songs. This particular song was a hit for John decades ago. This particular performance was perfection. John's voice so strong, her's so delicate but in perfect harmony. Listen to the lyrics and it's about "forbidden" love - unable to be involved with someone you love because of prior commitment. Read into it what you will ... Olivia and John have been good friends for a long time. Remember that Olivia was recovering from her second bout with cancer at this time. John and Olivia have performed together many times and only a few years back recorded a Christmas album. John is long-time married to his sweetheart, Jilly. John also has a background in musical theatre. Glad you enjoyed this.

Your reaction is priceless guys... Livvy and John were never romantically involved but shared a mutual love of each other for decades. This entire concert is a lesson in artistry and vocal agility from all three of these multi-talented musicians. The tour broke attendance records at the time, the album and DVD were multi-platinum chart toppers. All three have been sadly affected by cancer but show how to live with it giving strength to others along the way. Olivia will be missed. Sending positive thought to John for a speedy recovery and wishing Anthony Warlow (the other star of this concert) all the best with his upcoming lead role in "Titanic - The Musical" in Melbourne.

They are only ever good friends and never dated, but did some songs together.
John's happily married to Jillian and I have been married for up to 50 years this year 2022 and have to grown boys together ,he met her when she was a dancer and the rest is history.
