You know One Piece, pain, than happy times, then more pain, then happy times. We are on Enies Lobby arc, Water 7 finished when they arrived at Enies Lobby. The Saga is called Water 7/Enies Lobby.
When Robin saved Luffy from the quicksand in Alabasta her first words directly to him were "Why do you fight? You people with the initial of D." So it stands to reason that the whole reason she saved him was not because she liked him, not because she was going to betray Crocodile, but because Luffy had the D in his name. The existence of Saul makes that even more likely now.
Arlong Park made me realize One Piece was something special, Alabasta made me realize One Piece is one of my favorite anime, Enies Lobby made me realize One Piece is one of my favorite stories of all time, irrespective of medium.
Seeing chibi Robin, alone in that boat trying to keep it together by laughing, like Saul taught her, but ultimately breaking down crying while she watches everyone and everything she has ever know burn, is the saddest moment of One Piece for me. That moment makes me bawl every single time.
It’s between Robin & 🫀 Pirate’s captains backstory for me (trying not to give spoilers lol). There are way too many emotional moments for me to narrow down the saddest, but in terms of backstories that make me bawl, it’s definitely those two.
@@hellojillytook me a second to get who you're talking about 😂😂😂. Totally agree. That backstory is worse, he is still my favourite character to this day (the inspiration for the pirate crew name), maybe now second after the big bear guy

Sogeking you mean.. Usopp was still on water 7 recovering. I wonder what sogeking is doing these days. Probably just out there saving other pirate crews from annihilation.
Oda putting Franky at the end there is such an underrated moment and good tension relief, masterful writing. Oda making our throat hot and itchy with tears steaming down then makes us laugh at ourselves 😂

I don't think that's his codename. Just his moniker, that happens to have a color in it. Like Hina has Black Cage. A nickname like Garp's The Fist. If you notice they never say "The White Chase" or "The Black Cage" by themselves, it's always following Smoker or Hina (or followed by, if we're referring to the japanese). I think codenames are reserved for the admirals, with the color + animal and they're never accompanied by their actual names. The real question is what's Smoker's real name? Usually more people becomes fans of One piece after Syrup village arc or Arlong park. But 100% of them all become fans after Enies lobby. Its just toooooooo good.
one really interesting thing about robin's character is that before this arc, she referred to the crew by their position. Calling luffy captain, sanji cook, etc. Only after this arc, did she start referring to them by their names. This was because she never expected them to stick around so she was trying to avoid getting attached
This moment was so good made me cry first time watching it so happy Robin finally found people who truly loves her of course we knew that but after witnessing her backstory it just so emotional
I hate having to wait so long before we get to meet Nico Robin in the live action. At the end of the day, if I had to pick my favorite Straw Hat, it would be Nico Robin. Oda is a genius.
Water 7/ Enies Lobby saga is my favourite even today and of these saga, the Enies Lobby arc is my favourite. Some people prefer other sagas and there are powerful emotional moments in almost every arc/saga, being the most recent one a perfect example. Yet, Robin's backstory is, for me, the saddest of them all and there are a lot of sad ones - Zoro losing Kuina after the promise, Usopp losing his mother after his father left to be a pirate, Sanji knowing the sacrifice that Zeff made for him, Nami's losing Belle-mère and the weight she had to carry on her back, Chopper being abbandoned by his family and not accepted by humans and then losing Hiriluk. I won't spoil other stories but you might have caught a pattern, each Strawhat has a painful backstory. Even Chou-chou's backstory is emotional, because even side characters have to suffer pain. This is One Piece.
I think that part of why this resonates so much is because so many people feel so trapped. “I want to live! Take me to the sea with you!” Is a sentiment that suicidal people understand. A lot of them have to do exactly that: take to the sea. If the world you’re living in feels like hell then you can either stop living or you can commit a different type of suicide: kill who you are now and become someone else. Give drifting a try. We’re all going to die anyway, so give that one a shot before you check out. And while you’re at it, try everything else out. If your trajectory leads to death every time, then why not wait it out a little longer and maybe pick up some insight along the way that may or may not follow you.
this episode was the first time tears actually escaped my face. teared up so many times in this show, but this episode had got me the first time i watched it.
The crazy part is that the show actually gets better. It's literally getting better to this day. One Piece is so good that it's made me far too picky about what I watch now 😅
The Straw Hats always go to war for one of their own, but when it includes the only two women on the crew…for some reason it hits harder. It’s like older brothers protecting their sisters.
one thing is that Robin never call any of strawhats by their names during the journey until here. She never wanted to be so attached to them. I was thinking that she just wanna be cool but when the backstory kicked in, everything makes sense
The girl is tough, she didn't even flinched in that heart-wrenching scream. The guy however has tears rolling down his face since the beginning of the episode 😂
The Water 7 Saga is still my favourite to this day, and I'm reading the manga. It's wild how hard this hits and stays with you after all these years. Also, Franky is totally us.
The fact that Robin went through all that trauma and hell, for virtually all of her life, and didn't either mentally break or decide to end it all, speaks volumes to the strength of her mind and character. And now, as Saul promised, she has found friends willing to declare war on the world for her sake. And noticeably, none of them hesitated or voiced any kind of protest or concern. Robin is their friend, their crew-mate, and if fighting for her means fighting the entire world, then the world can just bring it on.
I have legit seen over 10.000 anime in my lifetime and I WANT TO LIVE is still the best scene in anime for me. The build up to this scene, the release of emotions. Its simply not beatable. Even Oda himself has not done it so far. Crazy alone that there are multiple scenes in One Piece that come close to this.
