Sounds like Bryan just wants to move on. You don't get to tell the victims of atrocities carried out on their people by systems that allowed the atrocities to move on. A rapist, murderer, thief...doesn't get to tell their victims to move on. The beneficiaries of the criminals' activities don't get to tell the person who was wounded physically, financially, mentally, and spiritually harmed to move on. This is the failure of his inability to put himself in another's shoes. It's hard for him to this because what white person wants to trade place with us. You tried, my Sister with immeasurable common sense and patience. He did not get it. He does not want to get it. And his so-called white male unearned, save by force and lawlessness, advantages are VERY difficult to give up. Especially since you were supposed to listen to him and not vice versa.
I've had numerous conversations with individuals like Brian and realized that they are very content on being labelled as a white, but have total disregard towards other human beings based on historical myths or religious rhetoric pitched to them by the ones who came before them. Some would use the word heritage to describe their stance not knowing that they too have been conditioned to accept this narrative in order to reap the benefits.

incredible conversation. I just had a similar argument with some people who were trying to classify a trait as "asian". I told him that no set of traits could embody a population that encompassed about half of the world population, so stop the broad construct! I probably would not have done that without elevating my thoughts from the Saturday Class, but I get your point today perfectly. Such a challenge to get people out of the broad classifications and back to humanity.

It's funny though, how his words really let you inside his psychology. He kept saying "well what are you gonna do with us?" In response to her saying that everything should be equal/white supremacy dismantled. Which shows that subconsciously he believes that the only way that the system can be dismantled and the system can be equal, is if something is "done" with white people (such as kill them/enslave them). Hes saying that he knows that there cannot be a world where people are equal, and white people still exist. He is also saying that white people would rather die than live in a world where everyone is equal. But most of us already know that.

I was talking about this on a comment earlier, but new school books are essential. American history books for schools have mostly been approved by the United Daughters of the Confederacy, a bunch of southern socialites who revised the cause of the Civil War and realities of slavery into a fairytale. People who have learned this untruthful version of our history have a hard time believing our real history and they also don't understand why black people can't move on cause it was really not that bad (in their twisted reality). New textbooks and curriculum should be#1 change, then maybe white people will be less resistant to learning and changing. Amber Ruffin said something like it's actually white history that needs to be corrected and told truthfully. That's what all the lying and hiding is about. White people need to face up to their history. Maybe then we could get started on the systemic racism and what the government has done and continues to do still today.

He really got frustrated that Karen was speaking "over his head"; meaning (basically) just in terms of basic examination and self reflection.
It really seemed as if he had not processed these concepts at ALL and then called in with these surface level definitions (at best) and proceeded to spend the whole call defending an IDENTITY, that (at this point in his life) he hasn't investigated, but has committed to. It all too familiar....
@KarenHunterShow I love Monopoly. My strategy was similar to yours. Buy up the so-called cheap properties and see people struggle to pay. Based on real streets and lives!!! That ain't right! Playing it is going to have another layer to it. Next game I will be dropping some knowledge while I sink everyone with the "cheap" properties. I will be proud to own those.

Wow! Even when Professor Hunter puts the definition of humanity right in his face, he can't see it because he's so married to the construct of white/whiteness.
He immediately takes cover and defends something that even he can't define!
He can't accept that KH sees him as a human being, because he doesn't see himself as a human being...., he only sees himself and others as social constructs.
So when the construct is deconstructed humanity rushes in and he never been exposed to the true definition of humanity. So he feels lost and confused, naked, defenseless.
