Great system. I currently use A/C septic pumps with weights hose. I will give the direct solar a try. For future , you can avoid the cost of expensive diffusers by using a 3/4” hose barb T and cut a length of weighted tube then using a small diameter drill bit and drill holes around the outside of the circle of hose. If you are close. To shore you can just toss the diffuser in or monofilament to drag it across the pond. Pond aeration is superior to any fountain.
People off grid have been trying to air-condition with solar cheaply. Most off grid people harvest rain water or store water . I know Earth's temperature is 55°f-65°f say 5ft below ground . If I placed my water storage at that depth with one of those diffusers or one smaller and I siphoned the air from the dead air space on top into my 12× 20 insulated shed . Would you think that'd be worth trying or am I thinking crazy?
Cool video!! Could you do a follow-up? How much better looking is his pond now?? I can imagine it looks like a totally different pond? Does this help with much reduction at the bottom?
Thanks for the video! I'm looking at getting the Rad bike. I saw a segway electric bike at Ace the other day and it was crazy with shocks and carbon fiber!
I saw a video about 5-10 years ago where a guy just wired a solar panel direct to a 12v air compressor. IIRC he said he got a few years out of the compressor but it didn't like when the sun was setting/rising and that was causing pre-mature failure
can't easily compensate for clouds without more sophisticated solution but just run a timer to not allow to turn on till after a set time and turn off before late afternoon. Could use voltage switch that would also cut off during day with limited solar.
Our aerators incorporate an MPPT controller that provides great performance under nearly all solar conditions. These control boards are built in Madison, WI for this exact purpose. Units equipped with dual panels will run during rain storms and heavy snowfalls. So far, these compressors have been seeing a life span of around 4-5 years.
@@ericpipkin3356 Thats great to know but my alternative is just another way to accomplish the water movement and doesn't require piping etc and the motors last a very long time likely longer than the compressors and can generally be bought used for $200to $300 and basically no installation just drop in pond and plug up. On a timer they can essentially use direct pv power from home system but would loose some efficiency in conversion to ac then back to dc.They can also be installed to aerate like a fountain. I do see the advantage of your system and I think it is a very good option especially since ponds are often not near any source of electricity even if their home has solar. It also provides oxygenation as well as water movement.
Some thing simple is an airlift pump. You can use a simple a cheap diagram air pump. that puts in any volume of air you need using any kind of hose you desire, just mix and match the air volume. It moves water with the air and pushes their water and breakers up the surface tension. Doesn’t clog like normal water pumps. So you can uses a filter if you need too, but for this case or others you just need to lift the air a short height, 2-3 inches and so get lots of movement and lots of agitation.
Way off the subject here but I didn't know if I commented on a six-year-old video if the comment would be seen. How has your Storm Survival System gasifier held up over the last six years? I'd really like to explore the avenue of gasification but I'm not sure I can build my own. I'm wondering if it's something you would purchase again and or recommend other people purchase?
Scott, I am putting in some solar panels and it's a DC set up. I want to use AWG #6 stranded wire, but I can't seem to find the fine stranded wire in #6. What do you use for DC 100ft run? What strand count should I be looking for? thanks for any help
Nice system. But if he is overstocking with fish and having sudden fish kills it is usually an N3 spike. Better off with an oxygenated media tower. Get bacteria munching away on those nitrates
rather than solar air conditioning put vents as high up as possible sourced from greenhouses so ehen they hit a certain temp they open and when another temp is hit they close... i have vents right under my decking here in jamaica so my house is at least twenty degrees cooler in summer .. simple fans do the rest
Engineer775 you need to get a hold of the RUclipsr country view acres! He has been having trouble with his pond and needs an aerator. Would be a cool collaboration.
You could use Dyofix Blue to suppress the algae blooms, gives a lovely blue tint to the water, completely safe food grade dye and will retard the algae growth so that you don't get a massive kill off which can empty the pond of oxygen..... Great video
"I'm not naming any names... Jason". LOL A couple things: 1) you guys must not have rocks down there. LOL 2) this looks about like what I was thinking of trying to build myself. Is this available in your store?
If you are looking at expanding into Ohio. I am willing to let you use my pond as project place. I have about an acre and a half pond with a beautiful beach that i have installed in it. If you are interested.
So...having managed two ponds for 8 years now...the flaw in your system...you need to aerate when the sun it NOT out. I run my one aerator full time, but my fountain just in the evenings. Cloudy days are when you need it the most. Your mileage may vary I guess.
No batteries? What happens when the sun goes down? Or clouds? Does the system have some sort of current monitor that shuts down the inverter and turns it back on when the sun is out again?
@@engineer775 , just by aeration? It seems like a bubbler in an aquarium. Is that the way to describe it? I was thinking of an aquarium as it also has a filter pump. The pump moves a lot of water as well as filtration. I would not expect to have to filter a pond though.
people also use ICE EATERS to circulate the water from bottom to top and pretty efficient 1/2 hp uses around 500 watts and I think they make 1/10 hp ones. I use them duck hunting to keep water open .
In 4-5' of water, each of those diffusers will lift about 600 gal/min of water. If this pond is actually 10-12' deep, they will be lifting a lot more than that.
Lol bump your head , hold my beer I was on a hill installing for my solar panels and my knee went out I over extended the driver and that rod went thru the side of the roof of my mouth clear into my temple , the simplest things can kill you or hurt you bad call a pro like engineer 775
im a fan, and fellow electric worker in cincinnati. now ive always noticed that your employees have bible names which is great. are you guys serious christians ?
Build a ibc tote-frame "tower" from the bottom of the pond to near the top. Run a 6" pipe down the center, and put the air at the bottom at the pipe... at the top, using alfalfa bales, in the top ibc tote frame, that the water falls onto like a big filter. Orr.. up and over, into any walled and back filled with gravel portion of the pond.
Is there some reason you seemingly never talk about costs? Is there some reason that you think $6,000 to add air to a pond is worth while? Really?? $6,000 for a pond???
I would sure like to see the change the aeration makes in a future episode. Thanks for the video.
Yeah I need to get back up there I haven't seen this pond in over a year.

This is awesome if you would Sir please do an update in the weeks and months to come on the progress of the ponds and if life has returned
In 6 months or a year from now you should do an update to show how the ponds are doing after the install of the aerators.
and if the device is still working
I'd love to see an update on what it does to the pond !
Please make an update video
Few people ever do updates....
I would put a small buoy on those so you can pull them up for service.
a fishing bobber or piece of foam will do but you can always use a grapple or big treble hook or pull pipe up.
Hey Scott - the sinking hose goes under the diffuser arms before it connects to the check valve...

Hey is this system still working? Quick reliability check before I spend 3700$
worked for a nationwide landscape company, they cut off one handle on all post hole /ground rod drives, no more accident reports
Did you try water pumping with air yet?
Hey Scott hope things are well in your world.

I've seen people hit themselves n the head with these.I won't name names.......Jason. LOL! Definitely will need a update vid for this project.

I would like this set up but I only need one . Where can I get it?
Where can I buy it how much do you charge the air pump with compressors
That's a nice pump enclosure package. I didn't see where that can be bought in the video. Anybody know?

So how do they work after the sun goes down? I saw a bladder tank when you were in the shop I’m assuming that’s how?
No they only work during the day. But they run all day long from dusk to dawn.
How can I get
I need this for my Aquaponics and a matched solar pump.
I think the worst O2 problems naturally occur at night and are worst just at dawn. Hopefully this will be enough to let them coast that long.
Any updates on the pond?
03:52 ... nearly sticks a knife in his leg.... lol. NEVER cut toward yourself. ;)
Lol
Wood carving has taught me bad habits.
Don’t get bloody, cut towards your buddy.
Any news about pond power système ? Thanks
You could make a mini wastewater treatment package plant with those diffusers.
Respect

Great video
Would the kids come home looking like smurfs after a dip in the pond? LoL
Great system, BUT, for $8000 I’ll just run power down to my pond. Good grief!
question for you is there such a system run a water pump to fill a farm pond to replace an old windmill just asking for a friend let me know please
You can do that with a solar pump all day long. Let me know if you need one.
so was the pond overun with algie because of fertilizer runoff?
That and fish crap, along with a lack of turnover/oxygenation.
"I'm not naming any names... Jason". LOL
A couple things: 1) you guys must not have rocks down there. LOL

No batteries? What happens when the sun goes down? Or clouds? Does the system have some sort of current monitor that shuts down the inverter and turns it back on when the sun is out again?
The system shuts down in total darkness, but continues to operate under cloudy conditions. There is no inverter.
What about a pump to get some movement of the water -- create a current.
It is moving a lot more water than you realize.

Hey I can help you clear your pond up. It's easy!
Plants can be planted in the bales. Or cages. How high can you get the water to pump up a 6" pipe?
Thats like the most useless thing to do. How does it power up at night??
Are all your workers' descendants of Prophets? :)
