We get a live report from downtown Gulfport, Florida, as the state braces for the impact of historic storm Milton, which is expected to make landfall at “catastrophic” strength. News director Seán Kinane of WMNF community radio describes heavy rain and significant debris remaining from Hurricane Helene, which battered the region less than two weeks ago to become the deadliest hurricane to strike the continental United States since Hurricane Katrina. Milton could surpass its damage, with a projected storm surge height of 15 feet when it comes ashore Wednesday night.

Florida is a wonderful place……………to visit for a vacation in January, February, or March. And that's about it.
I've always wondered why so many houses in America are made of wood when you get so many hurricanes and tornados!

Wood is best for earthquakes, the wood transfers the energy into the ground
Because they use gas as heater in cold days, if they use brick, masonry or concrete well the heat will keep running which cost higher bill. Wood observes heats and keep it longer in the house but also quock to build. 🙂

My close friends mother lives in Naples and she is staying because she believes this is not going to be as bad as reported. It is incredible that some people listen to non-meteorologist (insert any dumb politician thinking they know how weather works). Almost unbelievable but at this point the things people choose to believe just doesn't shock me as it once did.
And, sadly, as things get worse they will cling to that belief even more.

I've been b___hing about the heat in West Arizona this summer. Now I feel a little embarrassed in my whining. Florida and the other south eastern states are just getting hammered. First was Hellene and now Milton is arriving. There is infrastructure damage that may take years to repair. So many houses lost and property destroyed. Lives lost and so many displaced. I am grateful for the work being done my FEMA and the NGO's. I have already donated once and I'll be doing it again because my fellow Americans are hurting and in need.

Schools are not on higher ground. 74th Elementary used to flood so instead of rebuilding all they did was build ramps for the children to used when it did rain .
