Wu Wei cela veut dire que tu as été chinois il y a bien des années , des siècles , une éternité et que tout son de ton pays retrouvé te déchire le cœur ....
With due respect to all super-talented musicians out there. There are few people I would consider prolific. And Pierre without question is one of them. Regardless of whether his music is your style or whatever, the man has an unbelievable command of the instrument and a beautiful mind for song writing. And... probably one of the most technically proficient professionals out there too. Just unbelievable. Mad props to Pierre.
Wish I would have had the ability to stunt this mans aging right then. He was at his height of dexterity and virtuosity. While he's still an outstanding player even at his current age, I have never heard him play this piece as perfectly again as he did here. Granted i never heard him live so these records are the only thing I have to go by. He constantly reinterprets his old pieces, seemingly making them a little easier to play as he ages but he's still marvellous to listen to.
IMO, this is actually better than the studio version anyway. The original has an overdubbed lead guitar a little ways in, and some vocal accents. Still good, but this one is amazing.
I spent a month to learn this song, and played a lot since that. It has been 3 years now, but truly, every time i listen to Pierre play it i just feel i was ruining the song ; (.
Please don't feel that way. The fact that you can play this song at all is a great accomplishment for you or any other guitarist who can play it and this helps lay the foundation of Pierre's future legacy - keeping his music alive in this world.
Exactly. Pierre would want you to keep you perservering and achieve your own unique voice on the instrument rather than you throwing your guitar in the dumpster and giving up. I know what you mean though, I feel like that whenever I learn a classic piece and hear a John Williams recording which is technically annoyingly perfect, it puts me off!
"Wu wei is an important concept in Taoism that literally means non-action or non-doing. In the Tao te Ching, Laozi explains that beings (or phenomena) that are wholly in harmony with the Tao behave in a completely natural, uncontrived way. The goal of spiritual practice for the human being is, according to Laozi, the attainment of this purely natural way of behaving, as when the planets revolve around the sun. The planets effortlessly do this revolving without any sort of control, force, or attempt to revolve themselves, instead engaging in effortless and spontaneous movement." en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wu_wei
@tuikun02 here is a guy that is keeping a real strong grove but moves in some odd timing too. Antoine Dufour - Scratch. It's really not even about guitar anymore when it comes to these guys... it 's music... the sounds/ the not sounds. So so many great players out there. where is are the masses on this? the general public music is hollow. It scares me that more people are not into this stuff. To each his own, but I just think the lack of appreciation of this is scary. music no word? what?
@TheGentlemanBronco dude this is nails. and he is playing it about 15 bpm faster than intended when he wrote it. And if this workshop was recent, he is old now. Give the guy a break.
Anyone know what guitar he's playing here? It appears to be a jumbo body steel string that he's fitted with classical strings.Never seen anyone do this before...very creative. I'm going to see him this Sat eve in Denver at Swallow Hill. I don't put too much stock in ranking guitar players, but fwiw, Frets Magazine has rated Pierre the 3rd best guitar player in the world. I'm siked to be seeing him in such a small venue this weekend.
Help me please, Im searchig for a recording of a live show probably in years around 1982 done in french were M.Bensusan made all is greats, Solilai, Wu Wei Nice Felling , he was mostly alone on the stage... My tape of that show died many years ago :- (
@Chiangmai007 I have the sheets to Nefertari, and Hymn 11. I'm not sure which one to do first. But I'll likely add E Funk by Al Petteway as it has more "wow factor" for the non-musician and general listener. I'm interested in your thought (likes dislikes). Which do you like better Bensusans cover of Si Bhig, Si Mohr, or the one by Ed Gerhard? It is Gerhard for me all the way. Gerhards cover of The Water is Wide is tops for me too. I have not heard better covers by any others on those.
@stonefreeJMH :) i discovered it today and i have the same feeling..you should check out also Justin Kings August train and also check out maneli jamal;)
I do agree that Pierre does perform this well and is a talented musician but if you listen sometimes he misses notes. When i met him he taught a workshop and said that every not must be played beautifully but when he performed many of his notes were not up to expectationm of what he mentioned.
There is something seriously "wrong" with Bensusan and his sense of timing and harmonic structure. I'm going to attempt some of his stuff, and when I get off that bus I wonder if I'll ever be able to find my way home. Or if I make it back to normal land will things be slightly different colored? A lot of great fingerstyle guitars I enjoy, but often know where they are headed in a song. Is it just me or do you guys find yourself saying "what the...?!" when he takes off in a odd direction?
je l'ai vu 2 fois et à chaque fois c'était génial .
Can't believe such a beautiful piece can ever be written and played with a single guitar. Truly genius. All my thanks for letting me enjoy it, Pierre!
almost nobody can play it. only masters can
@@gmsi7d371 Thanks!
Best version
Wu Wei cela veut dire que tu as été chinois il y a bien des années , des siècles , une éternité et que tout son de ton pays retrouvé te déchire le cœur ....
i could listen to this a million times and still get chills. very soothing.
Thank you.
YES FATHER🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🔥❤️👌🏾
He is a king. He is the best, not one of the best, just the best of the world.
Ah, I hadn't heard him for so long, what a nice breath of air!

Wu wei ... che meraviglia averlo incontrato ...

Pierre plays the most alive and sensitive music I've heard. He is a conduit to inner feeling and external energy.
Thank you for uploading this. I'm binge watching Pierre today :)
I'm going to ignore this so I can continue living a happy life playing guitar. It's insane how good some people are!
Truly a master, feeling the music each second.. fantastic
As always, he's my go to for composition and soul
I have been watching this video time and time again for years

One of the authorities on DADGAD in the world today. BRAVO Sir!!!
Such incredible playing. One of the best fingerstyle songs I've ever come across.
5 people who dislike this song can't hear.
Funny how non-musicians and non-guitarists can tell how amazing this man is. Dull is a word that only a fool could use to describe this.
I forget how utterly brilliant this guy is. I'm reminded again.
He's shaking and his contracting and I'm surprised he could even play at all.
It's AWESOME
got this concert, wonderful thing all over...
Those old ribbon transducer acoustic pickups were horrendous! Glad there's a plethora of great pickups available these days.
he really is one the best 5 who've ever played the thing. Sweet Jesus H.
Meraviglioso !
Got it! 11 june. Thanks
Beautiful...

Took me longer than a month, Ha! And same.... his fluidity is beautiful.

2 song from Pierre bensusan

Such a nice guy; and very humble. Step aside Andres Segovia ;o)
@stonefreeJMH . i think its a song with different style from Rylynn . B UT both songs are GREAT !
@haikusa wuweie is the idea of creating by allowing to happen. I'd say he's pretty right on.
@nathanialbeltz I think it's trainable to get such accuracy in the left hand. With loads of practice. At least I'm hoping so for my own sake ;D
@jonyboulder2 he has ,,,lol
its called"the guitar book "
@TheGentlemanBronco dude this is nails. and he is playing it about 15 bpm faster than intended when he wrote it. And if this workshop was recent, he is old now. Give the guy a break.

any1 here who know what part 0:30-0:34 is called in music theory? like best lick i've ever heard.
0:28 - 0:34 ... wow...
Pierre makes me feel so small as a guitarist.
I looked at Amazon and iTunes but didn't see the mp3. Sorry.
Help me please,
Im searchig for a recording of a live show probably in years around 1982 done in french were M.Bensusan made all is greats, Solilai, Wu Wei Nice Felling , he was mostly alone on the stage... My tape of that show died many years ago :- (
@pentacleofvenus Try some of Al Petteway's tunes in dadgad. Pretty accessible and not mountain to climb like most of Pierre's tunes are
Is there any chance of obtaining an mp3 version of a version of Wu Wei somewhere?
This is brilliant.
@Chiangmai007 I have the sheets to Nefertari, and Hymn 11. I'm not sure which one to do first. @TheGentlemanBronco Its Music not A Tennis Match!!
Any idea of the venue?
@TheGentlemanBronco
1st: consider the difficulty of this song.
2nd: what the fuck? which notes are missing in this tune? It's PERFECT.
Wu Wei ,what is means?
pretty tough
the title is very ironic!
What year was this?
now that I've got your attention, watch this video again
Rylynn's still on top for me.
8 year olds can play Rylynn. There is something very serious that you are missing or not understanding.
Wu and Wei were 2 kingdoms in Chinese history. At a guess, it might be something about them? Or something . . . I don't know . . . I'm new here.
I think wu-wei doesn't mean 2 kingdoms, but a word means "non interference" or "laissez faire". It is one of the core values of Daoism.
@stonefreeJMH :) i discovered it today and i have the same feeling..you should check out also Justin Kings August train and also check out maneli jamal;)
Is this really difficult?
I do agree that Pierre does perform this well and is a talented musician but if you listen sometimes he misses notes. When i met him he taught a workshop and said that every not must be played beautifully but when he performed many of his notes were not up to expectationm of what he mentioned.
I too am looking for some interesting DADGAD tunes.
jesus
The guy below is right. This is literally blinding.
all hail wu wei
O s-
what does wu wei mean?
issit chinese? irish dialect?
Look at his left hand LOL! He should publish a method book.
he published a few through mel bay and there's a great video he did for truefire.com where he teaches this very song.
@6Cannibal6Bassist6 you can't even compare pierre to justin.. its true
Are you 8? Happy Birthday to you
