Can games be removed from the stock list? That's what I did with the NES/SNES mini. I took out games and added what I wanted while still keeping the original number of games.
@crazycasey_77 its nice and easy. I've got a 350gb hdd usb 2.0 powered on it. Format it to exfat, I labelled it as MEDIA. Dont know if you have to do that but I saw someone else do it and its working. Plug it in to one of the usb ports on you megadrive/genesis (I've got mine in port 2) and the app will do the rest. I have an OTG adaptor, just not tested it yet.
*seems any of these hack options that TMNT Hyperstone Heist has issues with the audio, least the options and roms i have tried. Maybe there will be a solution, I didn't notice at first when recording this video. Games definitely will not all be 100% as of now... but Id imagine things will get smoothed out over time.
Yea Mortal Kombat 3 Mortal Kombat 1 Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 The Game Bugs Out After A Few Rounds And Crashes Virtua Racing Crashes The System NBA Hangtime The Buttons Act Crazy NBA JAM T.E Doesn't Come On WWF Raw Doesn't Work So Far Testing Out Some Of The Games
The problem is the emulation solution developed by M2, which is customized for the selection of games in the mini. The games that have no sound either use some hardware trick (Hellfire) or are all from the same developers (practically all the Toaplan arcade ports), while other like Desert Strike, Mazin Saga, Rambo 3 etc freeze at specific points. Others like Phelios cause system crash etc. In other words the emulation solution in the Mini is not as good as the Canoe (the emulator used by the SNES mini) for adding games and tests are required to see how well specific titles run. Still a lot of games run well.
I did this earlier and it couldn't be easier. I loaded about 75 games with room to spare. A few have working issues but all in all its amazing and simple and... no additional equipment needed! 👍🕹❤ Love your content!!!!
One thing I think people should know, which I'm assuming nobody doing tutorials came across is if when you plug it in holding the reset button, if it doesnt trigger the install and stays on the waiting for FEL mode, there is an additional driver that needs to be installed. You all have the driver as it comes in the app files, and the mod my classic website Q&A section covers it. You just have to double click on the file (it's a .exe file) and it installs.
Q. My PC won’t recognise my console? (Even if you have used hakchi in the past with another console) A. Originally the driver for Allwinner FEL was hardcoded to Nintendo NES/SNESC. This has since changed from Hakchi and to minimise issues with users and using multi consoles/solutions, we also use the updated version of the “classic” driver. You will need to install the driver bundled with the Project Lunar Desktop App and then your console should work fine. Default location: C:\\AppData\Local\ModMyClassic\Project Lunar Desktop UI\lunar_data\driver\classic_driver.exe (replace with your desktop username)
Thank you so much for the walk through! It was easy-peasy! I had roms saved in compressed files, and they easily uploaded too! Time to play my favorite, Chiki-Chiki boys / Mega Twins!
I want to add games to each mini. Extra snes on snes mini, this, neo geo pro, etc. sure i can use a pc or something but the replica controllers and the whole thing is a nice feeling.
The only reason I got the Sega mini was so I could play them on with the original controller. I have a 3ds that runs most genesis games well and it's great for portable play games but since I was a Nintendo house, this is a great way to experience them.
MLP, what is your take on the mini classics versus the Mister? I’ve made a few Rasp Pi devices before and I have an arcade cabinet that plays absolutely everything...but I’ve found that when I own one thing that does it all, I play almost nothing. But when I have a specific device (ie any mini classic) that is loaded with its specific content, then I want to play it more often.
Yup! This is exactly what I wanted! No extra menus or hassle to go through everytime, just the default front end of the Genesis-Mini and the few extra games that I wanted to add to it!
Things I've noticed -you can load a group of Roms at once (shift select them) -depending on your Roms (say Streets if Rage 1), if you don't force it to US when it's loading it will keep Japanese (or whatever the primary language is) this frustrated me for 20 minutes before I figured it out. -Hacked ROMs (such as the translated version of Gleylanser) work great. I feel like this is so well done. It's exactly what I've been waiting for.
You say hacked to me do work with this. Excuse my ignorance, but you're saying that a rom hack of Sonic 2 that switches out Sonic and Tails with Amy and Cream would totally work with this? That would be awesome!
I added about 75 games and the ones I checked all seem fine. A couple of things. You can add games in bulk if you want. No need for one at a time. The other thing, alas, you can't remove the pre installed games at all. Hope that gets sorted. Other than that little thing it's a great Xmas gift.
I think having SMS or SCD games on it since they are all Sega would be good. Doubt they will release minis for those to the public. Thanks for showing it off. Looks nice.
Ive even put Tanglewood on my system, and works amazingly. So it even works with the NEW megadrive games to. My only issue is ive had an E4 error message a couple of times, so not sure what is coursing it.
How many games did you put on there? I was getting that and had to remove some to get that to go away and to get the menus to load in a timely manner. I have also found that if I play a few games and then go into the setting for the mini, it will freeze. I am guessing that the games being loaded are taking up space for the base OS.
@@thumpdrum I've got 87 more games on it. All MD files, I'm just wondering if it's got something to do with that tangle wood with it being different file
@Travis Smith obviously i haven't tried them all but run games through emulation station with retroarch cores and things are alot better. Sound is restored. Once 1.1 is here and we can run the stock ui through retroarch, happy days will be even happier
I added up to a 64gb in size, as that was the biggest I had at the time, and it works well, if you want to use retroarch or emustation then you will need a usb drive..
I have added quite a few games but I had to pair it down due to slowness of the menu launch and it locking up the mini when going into settings after playing a few roms.
I added games on mine and now i cant add more?? Everytime i click on game mananger it says i need to install the softerware but its ready installed..kinda bums me out i have a couple of games i would have liked to have added
On the original genesis there were a few games that had problems with the six buttons controllers, such as Forgotten worlds or Golden axe 2. I wonder if they can work fine on genesis mini with retrobit's official 6/8 buttons controllers
Unfortunately TMNT sound doesn’t work it’s playable though. Also games like Truxton also doesn’t have sound. Games like after burner 2 crashes. Also if you go higher than 60 you notice after you play a game it starts crashing and it freezes your consul and you have to reset it or unplug it. Just a heads up for anybody wants to go game crazy and putting so many games.
Is there any way to have the main screen with all the games, but not have the two box arts of retroarch and emulation station. I would like to make it look exactly like the original but with the extra games. Thanks :)
I've tried 10 different micro USB cables and I keep getting errors. It can't seem to detect my device (ie; wont appear in my window). I keep getting 'No console detected. Do you wish to start the Project Lunar install process?'
its neat and all but after a certain amount of game u cant get into the original menu will need folder option like the nes and snes mini right now not possible to put full library on the original menu.... nice work but ill wait for that option to be available
had tons of issues, kept crashing, wouldn't load, etc. Started to narrow my games list to about 80 with 50meg space left, same issue. Discord said should go down to about 60 per page, but can't figure out how to put "pages" in. Now down to 60 added games, about 85mg space left and seems pretty stable, only shutdown 1x since.
I’m probably going to keep mine stock. However this does look like fun and it would be worth downloading if you can pull the roms off the backup files. I know a lot of these roms were touched up and the new translation would be nice to try on real hardware through an everdrive.
So with some of the games that have some sound issues - would this be resolved with future PL updates? For example, Joe and Mac has no background music playing. Toy Story title screen has no music. Jungle Book has a weird sound when hitting enemies. These are just some examples. Thoughts??
Hi! Do you know if there is any NTSC filter (i prefer the Blargg_NTSC_SNES_RGB shader) that would be compatible with mega drive mini's operation system? Thanks!!
My brother added sonic 3 complete on the mini using project lunar of course. It's brilliant! But as we restart the game for some strange reason it brought us to sonic 3 menu instead of sonic 3 COMPLETE menu?! Whats weirder is that when we go back to mega drive menu and start up the game, it still brought us to sonic 3 menu! Like as if Sonic 3 Complete menu wasn't even there! I need help!
The few EA NHL games I got to work the goalies just spaz out and barely block. Also when editing the descriptions sometimes it leaves it the way I typed, other times it will have it formatted oddly when I come back to it and change what I just typed adding or erasing things. Even though there is a space between the release year and info it doesn't show that on the system but it did randomly. I'm sure the bugs will be worked out soon, really hope the EA games work properly soon.
Great video! How would we get Sega CD games to play on this? I assume it's using Retroarch? Anyways that would be the one thing I'd really love to see.
Wish they had a tool like this for snes mini especially with the info and box art tool. Would make it much easier. Maybe now it is more advanced not sure. Used haxchi 2.30 back when it came out.
On the "combatability" list, it showed "Sonic & Knuckles: Sonic 2" and "Sonic & Knuckles: Sonic 1" weren't compatible. So I just put Sonic & Knuckles, Sonic & Knuckles: Sonic 3, and Sonic 3 (by itself) on the system.

Please make a video of how to add a usb drive with more games... Genesis is my favourite console and i have a toon of games that i want to play, so i could really need a usb stick to get some more games on the system
This is sooo awesome!! I do have two issues.. 1. Where are the ROMs stored to use Retroarch? I tried playing with it, but couldn't figure out where the ROMs are stored.. Need a tutorial stat! 2. TMNT:HSH, I get no sound! I thought maybe I had a bad ROM, but nope! On my PC, it works fine.. Any help! Otherwise loving this!! Once I get these sorted, I want to make a video of my own..
I'm currently at 134 games with 38MB left of space. I think I got all the best "Genesis" games on my system. Now I just need to see 32X and Sega CD working on this tiny little system!
I can't believe I'm saying this. I'll stick with True Blue for now. All I personally want/need project lunar to do is let me run 32x/CD and Genesis/Megadrive on this cool ass device. Idgaf about Retroarch or ES if I'm being honest
Hey can you tell us where to get the games from? Like what website to get the roms to add to project lunar? I downloaded project lunar for the first time today & I don't see a folder where to add the games. I appreciate any help
If I plug my usb into my otg adapter will that add more storage that way also? That way I can have both front USB ports free for controllers. I like to keep my classic consoles look stock as much as possible after a hack, instead of having an crazy looking usb hub hanging out the front.
Awesome vid MLP! I literally got a Genesis mini today as a gift. I also received the Neo Geo Arcade Stick Pro for xmas. Any chance the Neo Geo stick would work with the Genesis mini running Retroarch? Or even the SNES mini with Retroarch? I tested it with the Super Retro-cade & the stick worked as the D-pad but the buttons were unresponsive unfortunately.
Ok I tried this in project lunar playing Sega games with no luck. I tried it in mode 2 like I do for PC or 3 like for android. In PC mode it wouldn't even "connect" like where lights stop flashing on it.
Someone please help my computer keeps saying usb not recognised when I release the reset button?? I did get it to start installing got to backing up nann flash and just froze was like it for over an hour and cant get it to do anything now

I wonder though, how will Sonic 3 [or 2 for that matter] locking into Sonic and Knuckles works on the Genesis Mini.
I think you need to get a dedicated "S3&K" rom where they're both already combined.
There is a combined rom, but you also need the patch for it to work.
There is a zip file with several patches that you can download. It allows you to play Sonic 2 and Knuckles and Sonic 3 and Knuckles.
Look for a ROM called "Sonic 3 Complete", it has S3, S&K, and the combined carts.

@@clementrousseau9431 i gave up, tried every available download to no avail, i will just wait for hakchi CE, it appears to be an easier more user friendly hack, no need for patches.
Thanks for doing a video on this. I wonder if the Sega genesis mini will be picky on certain usb drives?
Very nice ron!!!!
Thanks! Most games work! But I found that Mazin Saga is not working. It stops after loading the first game screen. Mazin Saga is my fave! :(
Hey! Do you know why with sof 1 I have the e4 please shutdown error?
cannot load atari st rom from emulation station with hatari core, please gave me some good advice. thanks!

Im having a huge issue so i had project lunar up and running just fine and everything worked great but i wanted to try hackchi and honnestly ended up liking lunar more so i uninstalled hackchi and trying to download lunar it does everything but gets stuck at waiting for reboot? I know im doing everything i did before but it just is stuck there
I can't find the project lunar aplication to download on the website nowhere
Please may you do a tutorial on how to setup sega cd games on the megadrive mini. Thankyou.
Is there OTG support on this project lunar beta version now..?!
Yes
I can’t find a list of games for the project lunar . Is championship pro am one of them?
Is there an option for cheats or game genie?
I got my genesis for Christmas it was waiting for this to be unbox isna Christmas part 2 for me today!!!
Please make a video of how to add a usb drive with more games... Genesis is my favourite console and i have a toon of games that i want to play, so i could really need a usb stick to get some more games on the system
Is there any way to batch add hundreds of games (I'm using a USB flash drive) without having to choose "Add Game" for each one?
why in the teenage turtle the hyperstone does not hear the sound of the game?
I have a question. Can I put this on Sega Mega Drive Flashback HD 2017 or not ?
Retroarch or emustation needs a usb stick.
@@graphicsgod with 38 megabytes left .... good luck with a 700mb bin cue image ... 😂😂😂😂. You need a bios too so 702mb
@@vasili1207 Nah for that I'd use external USB.. I know the Sega CD games would never fit!
@@T200026 Really?? Damn.. Well I'll try to find an extra USB!
Can you use a USB with this the playoff games
I have the sound cutting out on hyper stone heist. Did you also experience this?
Please i need help i accidentally deleted the folder project lunar with backup... please anyone can send me the download the folder Backup please...
A few questions, if you’d be so kind to answer:
1- does virtua racing work?
2- Do 32x/mega cd/master system roma work?
No to both questions, not on the stock UI, but Retrobit is installed with the package so you can play those roms through that.
Instead of 148mb space taken mine states 139mb. Did I just get a later model or is something wrong with mine?
I have a question. How come you can't use the same usb as the Sega Genesis Mini gives you while hacking the system to add more games?
Not detecting my Sega and no I'm not using the USB from the box. Can somebody please help
I can't believe I'm saying this. I'll stick with True Blue for now. All I personally want/need project lunar to do is let me run 32x/CD and Genesis/Megadrive on this cool ass device. Idgaf about Retroarch or ES if I'm being honest
How many games titles are there altogether and can we choose whatever games we like to play?
Awesome, I know what I'm doing tomorrow.
Question. would a micro usb cable that comes with a phone works?
Hey can you tell us where to get the games from? Like what website to get the roms to add to project lunar? I downloaded project lunar for the first time today & I don't see a folder where to add the games. I appreciate any help
Is it me or the sound for HyperStone Heist doesn’t work?
Sonic 3, Toy Story, Virtua Racing and Vector Man 2 will not work.. Tried various roms but none will work.
If I plug my usb into my otg adapter will that add more storage that way also? That way I can have both front USB ports free for controllers. I like to keep my classic consoles look stock as much as possible after a hack, instead of having an crazy looking usb hub hanging out the front.
Chaos Engine 2 boots until 2 player mode only?
Awesome vid MLP! I literally got a Genesis mini today as a gift. I also received the Neo Geo Arcade Stick Pro for xmas. Any chance the Neo Geo stick would work with the Genesis mini running Retroarch? Or even the SNES mini with Retroarch? I tested it with the Super Retro-cade & the stick worked as the D-pad but the buttons were unresponsive unfortunately.
Ok I tried this in project lunar playing Sega games with no luck. I tried it in mode 2 like I do for PC or 3 like for android. In PC mode it wouldn't even "connect" like where lights stop flashing on it.
ya i did that. now my system dont work anymore. black screen. how i can restore it back
Fix it
Someone please help my computer keeps saying usb not recognised when I release the reset button?? I did get it to start installing got to backing up nann flash and just froze was like it for over an hour and cant get it to do anything now
Turned out to be a dodgy usb cable. Worked perfectly with a new cable
how/where do you download the md files for the actual games ??
240Sil Google "wow roms" and use basic ad block
