    Once you make the decision to purchase a vehicle, it's important to enjoy the ride and not focus on what it may or may not be worth in five to ten years. Just let the money go, be disciplined, and save for the next one.

      That isn't always true though. If you by a limited edition that is numbered, they gain value much quicker. For instance, my 2005 Daytona Edition Ram 1500 is worth more now than what I paid for it used in 2007. Price for it bottomed out around 2015, and has only increased since.

      I agree 5 years ain't enough. But 50, 60, 70 are not the only cars worth money. I had a 97 Supra TT that I regret selling. That car is basically considered a classic now and worth a lot of money. I even had a 2006 Evo 9 that I wish I'd kept because they're worth a good amount already, and they're not even 20 years old yet.

    • @Bzebway101

      @bigfactz6735 agree, there are others that are more recent. But overall for car enthusiasts it usually takes longer than 5 years. Too many challengers and Chargers on the road rn

    Even a Super Bird which was a really cool car back in 1970 they had a hard time selling them. The son of the owner of our local Dodge dealership sold his personal Super Bird on the lot as a used car back in 1978! It was a truly beautiful car Orange with low miles. He was asking $4,000 if memory serves correctly. So even dealer maintained driving it sparingly and in perfect condition it sat on the lot for a while until it was sold to someone out of the area. Back then I was drooling over it but I was a prep cook at a local restaurant making perhaps $2.75 an hour just a kid! Man I did want that car! They didn't become a big money car until much later!

    True!! I My 90,000 Redeye was not ordered and delivered just to sit and collect dust. I bought it for MY enjoyment and I do keep the miles down as it’s not a daily driver like an Elantra or Altima. It’s a car for weekends but life’s too short to be saving cars and keeping the miles super super low just for the next guy to enjoy! These cars are meant to be enjoyed, even if it’s just a weekend toy like mine’s is.

    Hello, I've had my Challenger b5blue for 28 months now. I paid €31,500 back then, used with 40,000 miles. Today the 5.7 Hemi plus are sold in Germany for around €35-37,000 with 60,000 miles. Depending on the condition. That means you're increasing significantly here too. Nevertheless, I would like to keep the Challenger for as long as I can financially. But in my opinion you can definitely make a profit. Here in Germany a used Hellcat with 50,000 miles costs €90,000, that's crazy. All the best for you and your family. Many greetings from Germany.

  • @kickit59
    @kickit59 5 месяцев назад

    Brad you are so right! A prime example of what you are saying is the 2007 Parnelli Jones Mustang. They only made 500 and they sold generally here in the NW for around $65,000 depending on markups! Anyhow 6 or 7 years ago you could buy a low mileage Parnelli in great condition with say 12,000 miles in the low $30K range. In recent years they have came up a bit in price but now they are 16 years old and a really really good example with low miles is only worth 2/3'd at best of what it sold for new! So these cars even the low production models are not an investment at all! I like my Parnelli and I will keep it until I'm dead but certainly it won't be worth more than MSRP in my lifetime because I am now 64 years old even if I live to 75 years old!

    Flashback to 1970 when a Hemi Challenger RT SE stickered for about $5500. After spending approx. $5K restoring the car I sold it for $12K in 1982.
    Took 12 years to break even (plus a little) for a limited production (123 automatics) hemi car. I doubt todays enthusiast will pay double for any Dodge in 12 years.

  • @12luv365

    Oc you my man are absolutely right and especially with the baby brain people that just had to pay outrageous markups they should at some point come to the realization that they handed over a good portion of any future appreciations that these cars may garner in the coming years they just as well drive the living heck out of them because the trees they planted in this cars will not bare any fruit.

  • @whatevername6553
    @whatevername6553 5 месяцев назад +2

    realistically very little of these collector mopars are going to be worth anything close to what people paid for them, maybe half and that's with extensive maintenance logs, and low mileage.
    if someone can afford a collector mopar they can afford to make other investments that will make more money for them at a much lower risk.
    that being said not everything is about money, just have fun driving/owning it, at least it's not like most german cars where you'll be 60-90% underwater in 5-10 years.

    When I purchased my 71 340 cuda from a major Chrysler in 1971 they had over 30 Dodge Charger RT, Plymouth Barracuda, Cuda's, Challengers and Plymouth Roadrunners on their lot. Today only a few vehicles increased in value, but only after about 15 years. The cuda that sets the pace are the Cuda AAR.TA and convertible Hemi Cuda's. I did recently saw original Charger RT gained a lot value. People thought the Wrangler 392 will worth a lot-It's just a Wrangler. Mabe in 15 to 20 years it may be worth $25-$30,000!!!

    Performance/sports cars are attractive to a limited numbers of potential customers. Buying a preowned high performance/sports car is a roll of the dice. The same applies to buying a preowned Jeep Wrangler too. These type of vehicles are subject to a lot of abuse.
    As far as resale value Jeep Wranglers, for some reason, tend to depreciate at a much slower rate than traditional vehicles, but they still depreciate in value.

    OC is right and I have an understanding of the market being in the industry. There is no money in cars, Especially those challengers and chargers they made millions of them. The only ones that will be worth money down the road are the Demon 170, and super stock for the most part and just maybe. These aren’t 70 or 71 ‘Cuda’s with super Low production numbers. The only ones that I can see shooting up are the lower production cars with rarer options. Bottom line drive the car enjoy it this isn’t property here people land is king always.

  • @RipRoaringGarage

    For the most part I agree. But there are some points and Id love to debate this. There is something unique about the L body cars that makes them far more desirable that other cars in the last 10 years even. Ill give an example. I like the new Mustang, but I wont buy it, because it has too many screens, way too many electronics in it, and as we go further ahead, newer cars will last less and less.
    It wont be a collectability issue, its more of having a car issue. I remember seeing things like this in the 90s in Eastern Europe, where poverty was REAL. Yet, a beat up old Mercedes was selling at brand new prices, just so a rich guy could show off. Its not an ideal world, but what Im seeing, economically, socially, we are rushing to that way of life sadly.

    I call this auction fever! All those 60s cars that I bought in the '80s, I paid next to nothing for and drove The living daylights out of them and the majority of them ended up in a junkyard. And today you see those cars at the auto auctions and people are thinking that these cars will be worth a lot of money someday. I won't argue the point they might be worth some money but you're going to wait a very long time. And your actually not buying a valuable car at the auction you are paying for somebody's labor who restored that car. So if you're going to buy a car that you think you might make money on I would think twice. Drive your car and enjoy it!

    A car is a consumer good like washing machine, a TV or a toaster oven. It's meant to be used and eventually replaced. I never see a car as an investment. For that there are better and easier options.

    I totally agree as far as living life without regrets. BUT I totally disagree about the value of these cars or any other product. We live in a trending economy and that's what determines value today. People don't care if it's old, new or ugly. If it's trendy it has value. Just 8 short years ago no one saw the dealer markup movement coming, NO ONE. My advice is that you throw everything from the past into the trash this shit is truly unpredictable. Watch for what the young guys are into and that's what's going to hold value but only for a short period of time then on to the next trend.

    So bottom line is I’ll be losing money on selling my Redeye. 2023, 40 miles on it. Paid 156K for it.🤦🏻‍♂️
    Love my Swinger more and will be keeping that one. I’m lucky if I’ll get 100K for my Redeye tomorrow.

    The reason cars from the 60's are worth money is because there are very few left from the thousands upon thousands that were made, now every person who dreams of hitting it big at barret jackson is putting one of these cars in a bubble thinking they will have a big payday which means that big payday will not be there. Just drive and enjoy your cars and stop worrying about the value, you will be so much happier in the end.

    I bought a new Charger Scat Pack in 2019 and sold it for a profit 2.5 years later. Having said that, I bought it before Dodge jacked up the prices. We are also entering the electric era, one the government will not let fail. Even today, you can buy a faster electric car for less money. Then there's the issue of what people do to these cars - I wouldn't touch a used one...ever.

    • @Tracked350Z
      @Tracked350Z 5 месяцев назад

      I guess faster is just everything then? The Government does 1 thing well; gets behind a person, funds that person, then realizes it was a mistake. People need to learn how to do their own due diligence research before commenting, or reading someone else's biased review. With social media, media, red/blue, we've become so divided and in order for us to continue to believe what we believe in, we have to follow the same believers without understanding the other sides argument. See flat Earthers.
      With that said, EV's are far from the future, far from being "greener" than internal combustion cars, etc. There's a reason these EV factories never reveal the emissions they output because, it would not be a net zero number nor close to what an ICE factory produces in totality.
      Whether it's lithium ion or crude oil, it's not good for the environment. Which is better? Synthetic fuel or e-fuel that requires no digging of Earth material.

    After inflation you're lucky to 2x an profit. My grandfather came back from Vietnam and bought a Jazz Purple 1969 charger 426 fully loaded manual transmission for $5700. (Around 45-50k 2023). He put about 35k miles on it. In January he got it appraised and it is worth 87k (powertrain original, minor upgrades to interior). At 74 years old, he told me that is one of the biggest regrets of his life by not driving it into the ground. Instead of selling it, he put an additional 20k on the car this year, be driving all over the country visiting his kids and grandkids😂😂.
    *Watch the video and my grandfather sounds just like your dad when it comes to his car*

    You want a vehicle to hold value? Get a numbered vehicle that was produced with limited numbers. For instance, my regular cab 2wd 2005 Daytona edition RAM 1500 (Mango Orange) is worth more now than what I paid for it used in 2007.

    I don't see them being worth all that much in 10-15 years. Social media will move on to other things. Finding parts will become an issue as Dodge will stop making them..Storage and ruining costs will become an issue and an expense prospective owners don't want to take on. Let's face it Dodge isn't exactly known for great interior build quality or 250,000 mile durability.

    I hate to say this but you're more optimistic than I cause the whole economy is going to reset soon (24?) and toys will be the first to be dumped for quick cash. I remember 08-09 seeing 69 Camaros, ATVs, and side by sides littering the side of the road with for sale signs on them.
