Meal delivery or meal prep, and don’t keep leftovers from the parties, get them out of the house!
You’re a great daughter. My mom died two months ago & yesterday I had my first birthday of my existence without her. Not everyone has a good mom, but I did, and you seem too. Keep throwing those parties for her. If I had to do it over again, I would have thrown my mom one once a week.

I miss my mom, it's coming up on seven years since she died. There's always regrets and an empty space. I'm sorry yours is gone. It gets less painful but you will always have hard days.
Two tips I have for post holiday/birthday bounce back ( because I have the same problem when I visit my parents out of state): Prep a few of your favorite healthier meals ahead of time so they are in the fridge/ freezer waiting and sounding delicious. Also, think about something you enjoy, but do NOT want to do often. Mine is drinking now that I have kids. It is fun, but rare and I like it that way. So when a special day comes, I try to think of it like that. For some reason, equating it in my mind helps me realize that eating like that the next day and the next ages me feel just as shitty as drinking regularly. 🤷🏼♀️
Works for me, maybe it will help someone else.

In 3 months, even if you have 20 days where you overeat due to a holiday/birthday/event, there are still ~70 days to be on track and have a net positive result. Don't worry about the events at all. Go wild. But focus on the consistent habits.

I told my mom the trick or treaters story and we were so scared for you, and dying of laughter at the end.
Yes! I would always stress about eating on celebrations and then overthink or feel absolute guilt. This week I had my sons birthday & mom visiting. I was able to eat the stuff we were having and then go right back into my food/gym routine. I don’t feel like I need to eat less or work harder and that’s the biggest nonscale victory I have had.

Hey Bea! I've been following you a long time and have had similar ups and downs with weight and my relationship with food.
I recently read "Fast Like a Girl" and "Glucose Revolution" and those books and their tips have been a total game changer. There is no "on track or off track" you just give your body more time between dinner and breakfast (or skip till lunch) and/ or use the hacks to reduce your glucose spikes. Both authors were on Diary of a CEO and I recommend watching/ listening if you don't have time to read the books.
It has really helped break the spell food has had on me for 30+ years and change my mindset and microbiome- where most cravings come from. I love your content and hope this is helpful to you (and anyone else reading! ❤)

From whatever you did show, I'd say your mom's party was divine, especially given her squirrely stunt :) The Factor meals are always good for those cooking ebbs. I love the shredded pork tamale thing with the spicy sweet potatoes. That meal is, as your mom would say, "Slapping." There's another one with shredded beef, cauli mash, and broccolini, but I only saw it once on the menu. Maybe it's a winter meal, so it will show up soon!! Always enjoy your updates!!

Bea, you can soften caramels in the microwave. Roll into balls, place on top of cashew halves (they look like sea turtle flippers), cover in chocolate (white?), use a whole cashew for head, paint 2 dots for eyes

I have a bounce bounce back hack! it takes about 3 days for the post *fun* meals to get back on track: i mean tastebuds, will to cook, want to eat better. so I commit to moving *toward* my regularly scheduled diet slowly during those three days. I do whatever I can get myself to do without pressure, I don't beat myself up, I know I'll get there, and I don't get super strict about the details. when I take this approach, bam I'm back on track. the hack is not judging the momentum getting back while it seems it's slow going, which frees me from my natural resistance. (example: I make throw together nachos at home instead of eat out and count it as a win)

I loved watching you put those decorations together for your mom's b-day. The result was adorable! 🐢🌴🎈 In terms of Achilles heels, I too suffer from "derailment impairment." I have lost momentum in all sorts of self-care regimens due to a life disruption. Then, when I finally get back on track (which could be weeks or even months later) I feel dispirited. I am trying not to let things slide when stuff happens. After all, disruptions are a part of normal life. But I have found that if they do, self-loathing only makes it harder to pick up the thread. So I think being kinder to myself helps. I hope you do will do that too. 💗
