- Life is full of twists and turns; unexpected chapters. Sometimes, we recall certain times and experiences and they bear resemblance to vivid dreams, so much so, we might even ask ourselves, did that really happen? We evolve, we move on, but - no matter where we go - we carry those adventures with us, even if we’re not always aware of the influences.
The life of May Pang took an unexpected detour in her early twenties when she became romantically involved with one of the most famous people on planet Earth, John Lennon. While this period of Lennon’s life is often described as a debaucherous tangent, Pang - who was there at his side through it all - explains it with a bit more context in the new, recently released film she is involved in, The Lost Weekend: A Love Story.
The film tells the tale of how Pang and Lennon met and Yoko Ono’s unique role in their relationship. It also explores Pang’s association with many of the ancillary characters in Lennon’s life. Even though the Beatle’s biography has been exhaustively documented, Pang’s film offers a few surprises that only a true insider would be able to share. May Pang allows me the luxury of asking about some things I always wanted to know. Perhaps I ask a few questions that you’ve always wanted to know about this somewhat mysterious episode. Let’s learn about the ballad of John and May.
She's a class act! She has a soul and she's nobody's fool. I would love to see her movie, But I live in LA and it's only playing in the East Coast as of today. I hope Netflix picks it up! May if you happen to read this, Thank you for sharing your experiences and memories!
Not in my mind...Yoko basically pimped her to be with her husband....and now she is spending her life milking this stuff ever since and trying to say there was nothing wrong with it. If she didn't have this what would she do?
I do not know May personally but consistently in interviews, she projects an "old soul" type of individual in the best way. She seems to have been able to step outside of herself and beyond just her own needs to help others that were on the periphery of John's life, like his son Julian and even Julian's mom, Cynthia. A rare quality in someone and she has class as I understand the term.
May Pang is a class act and I love that she finally got to tell her story. I know there are alot of people upset because Yoko Ono is nit well at this time but Yoko has told her story for years and it’s now May’s turn. Thank you May for finally sharing your story.

No 1 qualified backs up her version of John supposedly in love with her. I call bs
May is so clever and lovely, and everything she says has such a huge ring of truth, unlike the stuff which you know who has churned out for decade after decade.
She is the only 1 with her version of how he felt. Not a single person backs her up or agrees.

These days, Yoko’s initial approach to her would be considered sexual harassment. And it was. No employee should be put in that situation. I think May Pang is terrific, I’m from NYC and I adore that she has a true NY accent and attitude. John made a big mistake when he broke up with her. Maybe a fatal one.
Agree with everything you said. I'm from Long Island, but I don't think I have the pronounced accent, as pronounced regional accent are becoming less common. Her accent and her NY sensibilities are so apparent. She also projects a NY style unpretentiousness and empathy that cuts across ethnic lines - truly a grounded person.

@@shazzasees john has a few things to say about may, yoko, the time he spent away from yoko with may. his interviews are right here on youtube and you can listen to them yourself. his take on the 'lost weekend' is a lot different. he says in his own words in tape recorded interviews that he almost died of alcohol poisoning BECAUSE he was separated from his wife. so john's version of all the events sounds much different that what may has to say. you can listen to his multiple interviews here on youtube anytime you want and see if you gleen anything from them beside all this lunatic fringe testimony from may about him being hypnotized and going back to his wife. in john's words "may knew the score from the beginning" meaning she knew he was married, of course, that he loved his wife and they were only in a trial separation meaning it should have been no surprise to her that he went back to his wife as soon as he could and may was there in the meantime. but somehow all this is yoko's fault. freakish.
I rented the doc over the weekend, on Prime. Do the same! It is so good! May is such a lovely human, no wonder John loved her. 💝

I think I have a crush on May Pang. Obviously back then, but more about the woman today. Such a gorgeous spiritual beautiful human being. Love her looks. Her cheerful eyes. Lot of charisma.

May is rad. Check out the movie, It’s beautiful. She was so kind to John. What a dear. Seems like all John’s friends really took to her, as well. And of course, she was instrumental in getting John back together with Julian, after they’d been estranged most of his young life. Wish John had ignored Yoko’s attempt to get him back. He would probably have been happier, and who knows, maybe he’d still be alive. Yoko refused to allow security around the Dakota, even though John’s people were suggesting it over and over. And if he’d been in LA, and not in a known location, he might still be here today.

I'm in San Francisco and I didn't know it was showing till it stopped. As someone who's been poor most of their life, I have to say its mind blowing to imagine how some people can just decide to move across country.

We live in the same NYC neighborhood, and I've run into her 2 or 3 times. The truth is, she really is very nice and real!
Just watched the movie 🍿 omg I was so happy then near the end 😢I had tears
i can't help questioning her version of reality . she really believed john went back to his wife because he was hypnotized. i suppose it is good women tell themselves anything they want when they want to pick themselves up after what feels like a rejection, but he was married the whole time he was with her so she shouldn't have been to surprised when he went back to his wife. but i question her recollections. john himself remembers his lost weekend with sadness and fear. there wasn't much fun in it. he said he almost died of alcohol poisoning and he was surprised he lived thru it. so not much fun there. course those are his own words in tape recorded interviews you can hear here on youtube.
Yoko thought she would be easily manipulated that's why she chose her.. an employee to go out with John, a non threat, then expire their relationship, just like a boss would dismiss their staff and that's what she did!

How do we get the movie. I saw the Beatles at Shea in 65 when I was 15 and always loved them and just read, eat and sleep Beatles not Beetles. Yeah yeah yeah. t would be wonderful to see it all these years later. Seriously. Sounds terrific.

I never knew May was with John for the UFO incident. He never mentioned having a second witness. Adds a lot of credibility to the story imo.

When I lived in LI NY in 1981 I met a man who was quite nice to drive me to the Love Church Services back then. And he told me How. His dad had thrown him out at 17. He traveled around the country by jumping on trains
And he met an Engineer who Loved his wife however because of an accident was not able to carry on if you can figure what I mean. Anyway apparently the wife feel in ❤with the young (hobo) and so that was the end of his 'Weekend" never could I forget a story like this

Just remembering a very important point before forming any opinion. The story of Yoko blocking Julian's calls to John is something totally new in 50 years, this has never been said by Cynthia, by Julian and not even by May in all these years. Everyone knows the story of John and May, it has been told to the world since the 10th of December 1980 so to release a new documentary it needs a brand new story and of course this story would never have been told 10 or 20 years ago it had to be told now with 90-year-old Yoko and poor health ♀️ 🤷🏽 coincidence? I dont think so and I won't go into May's backstory too much, she is literally a jilted lover who uses Julian's abandonment narrative for her own benefit

You obviously have not followed Julian's & Paul's interviews when both of them has said that Yoko intercepted Julian's calls & letters & Julian has stated she refused to give him things that John had left to him in his will. May has just verified these stories as true. Both have said it was May who got them together again. Thank goodness for May's influence to get Julian back together with his father & Paul, George, & Ringo back together with their band brother before it was too late. John was very lucky to have a few months of someone sane in the latter part of his life to bring some love & joy back to him & reunited his “family”
Thus, it comes down to a credibility issue. I tend to believe May in these matters. And I've followed this stuff for years...
