The stability is incredible. Knee pain disappeared. Yet it feels like running with bricks on your feet. The shoes are insanely slow compared to other runners. Overall there has to be better stability show options.
Yes, I personally will agree 100% with you. But millions of people love their Kayanos. Check out the Kayano Lite (ruclips.net/video/b_O57zNdkcI/видео.html), I think it's a much better way to do stability. Also check out the Skechers Forza 4 (ruclips.net/video/JEhDCDaafAQ/видео.html)
I like them and have had a pair of the blue/orange ones for about six or seven weeks. Done just over 200km on them and I am injured so mostly walking except for about 30km. And the orange rubber grip are heavily worn in the forefoot.... they are down to the next layer of foam (in my case the orange is down to the blue layer). I am not a big heavy guy but don’t think they will make 300km and they are going back to ASICS for warranty assessment.
I have run in every iteration and get over 1000km on them. Are you giving them up before they are done - they are firmer than many shoes, but that doesn't mean they are gone.
@@davidlynch9049 can't understand how you would take my comments about extreme early tread wear (which is visibly evident) and turn it into an issue about firmness (which is a feeling). Stupid comment. And ASICS agreed with me as they have replaced them under warranty.
Stability shoes are for people that are larger and need a more resilient platform, New to running so they might not have great form, High Mileage runners as form tends to fade when fatigued and people that need the extra support as they pronate more than most.
hello i have a flat feet so I have been recommended the gel-kayano 27 but for crossfit/weightlifting so will it be a good buy as its expensive I don't want to have a wrong purchase
That damn heel slippage! Annoying! But still, In Kayano We trust. Just will never pay more than $119.95 for this shoe, so I'm always a year behind. And this is my safety shoe that I go back to when I get sore from running in my other 19 pairs. But remember when this shoe was our stability marathon racer? Like the Adrenaline was before it turned into a brick? RIP NIKE Lunarglide (Still my PR and I race in super shoes). Thank God for the Endorphin Pro 1 & 2.
Great video! Where has your shoe been made? Mine says made in Indonesia. I’m asking because I bought my 27 at the ASICS outlet store, and I’m wondering if they use cheaper material and maybe a different factory to produce these. Couldn’t find anything on it online.
Hey there! , I'm in kind of an eternal stroggle. Perhaps you could give some advice. I hear you talk about the insole and that there's no support. That basically you need to put your own orthotic in. But i'm really looking for a brand or shoe lineup for every day use in the summer which already has an increased arch, so that I dont have to wear the orthotics in them. For ease of use, and because the orthotics get quite hot/ are expensive. I have them in my gym shoes now. Theyre also often too high or whatever so the shoes i put m in are not fitting nicely at the heel. Since al midsoles differ in height. Feet are flat with fallen arches, causing overpronation, but with the orthotics they collapse waaay less. Theyre always flatter and a bit more pronated than neutral feet, but It's the best I can do. Reason i'm looking at trail shoes is because there's a lot of people advising on them for flat feet, like brooks adrenalin, hoka one one, or new balance fresh foam lineup . But I can't seem to find info on if these shoes would have a higher and more solid arch in them even without an orthotic. And to work under like jeans and a shirt. There must be ones that have that right? So I don't have to put orthotics in. And have a brand where I can buy shoes without the eternal struggle that raise the arch. The orthotics I have for every day shoes are the half ones, but my toes always get scratchy because after removing the normal insole, theres rough materials there. The materials shoes come with just seem to be nicer when having a sweaty day. I tried finding a new daily shoe for months now, but it's just not working out, often they look weird and squished in when I stand and put pressure on them, even with orthotic. And my main Nike defender mid shoes don;t have that and look perfectly normal. Lookin at trail shoes because they also look cool and theres ''focus'' on flat feet on some brands. Perhaps u have an idea!
Thanks for the comment. Basically you are looking for a Motion Control shoe, or a "Stability" shoe that has built in arch support. There are a ton of these, the Kayano being one of them. Some us a hard plastic medial post, some use dual density foam to give you some support under the arch. Here's a list of stability/motion control shoes to consider: runrepeat.com/catalog/running-shoes?arch-support=motion-control,stability
I need a good shoe to practice for X country. The terrain is mostly road and inclines. I have neutral arches and have ordered a pair of Kayano 27. Will they suit my purposes and arches?
*...Explain to me what is better to take and why for a long and fast walk (not running!) With the best shock absorption (weight 100kg, flat feet) - Mizuno Wave Horizon 4 or ASICS Gel Kayano 27 .. well, or what others?*
Great question. The main difference in walking vs running is how your foot strikes the ground. Walking encourages heel striking in just about everyone, it's hard to get onto your toes and midfoot while walking, so you may want a bit more heel padding/stack, and a shoe with a bit of drop to help you role through your transition. The Mizuno does have 10mm more stack under heel and toe. Both are 10mm drop stability shoes. I'd pick the Mizuno if I was a walker I think just for the added stack under foot.
I try to choose kayano 27 or kayano 27 lite show ? I have knee problem and do you know weight of 27 and 27 lite show ? I coundt find anywhere about this
Iv just ordered these exact 27s having done just over 1000k in the 26s. I’m quite new to ‘proper’ running shoes so wanted to confirm the following.... the outside heel on both the right & left shoe are worn out on the 26s so is this the correct type of shoe for me to continue with? I’m probably a bit heavier & a bit older than your average runner & have had knee issues in the past. I feel the 26s did good for me which is why I naturally progressed to 27s but didn’t know anything about under pronation or how often they should be replaced etc, I’m trying to learn.
Technically the Gel Kayano is a stability shoe designed for pronators not supinators, if you are seeing wear on the lateral (outside) edge of your heels you may want to try the Gel Cumulus which is a "cushioned" running shoe more designed for underpronators. However, if the kayano has been working for you, why fix what's not broke? The need for stability control/cushioned shoes has been debated in recent years and a lot of brands are focused on neutral runners these days.
This shoe really is designed for overpronators, so medial side pronation. Lateral underpronation seems like a double negative haha, are you saying you pronate on your medial side?
@@RunRepeatcom haha I think I confusing myself 😂.. ok make it clear that I have a little underpronate base on my wear and tear.. am I suitable to wear these shoes.
@@RunRepeatcom Often things are quite subjective. The Max Road 4 was billed as a poor breath upper, poor lock down, not a cushion shoe, and unstable with all reviews collected to name the negative said about it. I have found none of these to be true except one for me, The upper is warm but no hot spots, the lock down is fine, true it's no cushion Hoka style shoe, and I do not find a lack of stability in the ride for me.
Your shoe should never ever flex in the mid-foot! It does not matter if it is a stability shoe or a neutral one. If your heel slips, use the marathon lace hole, that should fix it. It fits my heel fine, but if it slips for you, lock it down with the extra lace hole. The one thing I hate about this shoe, and I've run in all iterations since the beginning, is the lack of the heel pull tab. Asics are a pain in the hiney to put on without it now.
David, thanks for the comment, I agree I hate when shoes don't have a heel tab, I mention it in a lot of videos I create, it's such a small detail but to me its important. As for the midfoot flex, you are right most shoes are stiffer under foot, but the majority I've tested have more give then the Kayano. It's that plastic medial post, and I don't care for that design, it's stiff, and you can feel it. I did lots of different lacing techniques to deal with the heel slip, couldnt lock it down, the heel just felt shallow to me more than anything. Keep offering your thoughts, helps everyone, thanks for taking the time!!

Very true! There are many reasons to run in stability shoes, they are not just designed for pronators, although those are the main audience usually.
