    great explanation. glad you mentioned the nurse/teacher bit. i’m a physician and these high end runners make great all-day shoes for long days in hospital - hence why they’re so popular with us healthcare workers. Asics currently has 50% off for docs and nurses. They should really consider doing more marketing outside of just being the “running” shoe because they’re useful for more than just that. that being said the nimbus 24s have been great.

      Hello Joe!
      Thank you for your comment and sorry for the delayed response. Haha yes yes, I have sold many pairs of these shoes, especially the Nimbus to nurses and doctors myself. I am glad to hear they are helping you out on the job! I feel the same way, I think that kind of marketing would help the brand get out there a lot more and help them compete more with Nike and Adidas etc!

    Great video. I got the Kayano 26, and just bought the Nimbus 22. Both are great shoes, and it's almost like you sense their old heritage, when you run in them. While the Nimbus 22 is softer (and probably offers the best heel cushioning/support I have ever experienced in a neutral running shoe), I think the Kayano has a close to perfect balance of a soft, but firm cushioning.

    • @kickinit7018
      @kickinit7018  4 года назад +1

      Hey Henrik, I couldn't have said it more perfectly myself! The reason I primarily use the Kayano since the 23 is because it is soft but not too soft you know what I mean, making it great for many miles. I loved what you mentioned about the heritage, that reminds me of this Kayano 26 that came out. They painted it the colours of the classic Asics Onitsuka Tigers (White, Red, and blue). Give them a look when you have a second, they are the Gel-Kayano 26 Tokyo! Simple yet beautiful looking runner!

    Subbed! I have issues with heel pain/plantar fasciitis. I’m not a runner but am on my feet a lot, and we have tile floor throughout our home. I love the Nimbus. I have normal/slightly high arches but I know they lean in/ collapse just a little bit when I walk. Are the Kayano’s ok for high arches or is it best to just stick with the Nimbus? Also if Kayano’s could work for high arches, are they quiet a bit more firm than the Nimbus, or just slightly firmer underfoot? Thanks for any info you can provide!

    • @kickinit7018
      @kickinit7018  4 года назад +3

      Hey Stephanie, thanks for your support! Although it is best for those who pronate, the Kayano can be used by people with high arches. Particularly if you are looking for extra support, as they will have more than the Nimbus. You are right in that they are significantly more firm than the Nimbus, especially in the midsole area you will feel that stiffness. However, with that stiffness you are getting more support so it is a trade off. My recommendation to you is that if the Nimbus works well for your Plantar, I would stick with that. If you want to try the Kayano maybe catch it on a sale when a new model comes out. For example, right now the Kayano 26 is on sale because the 27 just came out. That way you don't pay full price just in case it doesn't work out. Let me know if you have any other questions :)!

  • @Invocationarraymusic

    Bunions are a thing over here, so it tends to demand a wider foot size and stability. But I’m not sure which Asics to get. I currently have Venture 7, which are great. The toe area always looked a little too round and the lacing area was always a bit bulky or awkward to get comfortable. The tongue moves a bit too much too. And I tend to get a little of crushed toe issues even with the correct size. But after a couple of years, the ankle area is now rubbing wrong, and the fabric is wearing off, so I’m looking at something more comfortable. I liked the flexibility of Venture 7, but the Gel Kayano and Nimbus are interesting. Also...what socks are best? Thick or thin? I’m figuring I’ll need a side 7 Wide. I currently have Venture 7’s in a regular size 7. Any advice or comparison? Bunions tends to make me grip with my toes more or wear my heals and foot sides down trying to avoid constant pressure on the big toe, and I have a slight knee and hip issue from strain.

    • @kickinit7018
      @kickinit7018  3 года назад

      Hey there Anthony! Hmm this is an interesting question. Let me give you a bit of backstory. The Gel-Zirus 1 launched when I use to work retail. Back then it was told to us that the Gel-Zirus 1 was a reworking of the Gel-Nimbus 18. The point was that many people liked the fit of the old Gel-Nimbus 18 versus the new (at the time) Gel-Nimbus 20. Hence, by bringing back the Gel-Nimbus 18 in the form of the Gel-Zirus, people had more options when it came to the Nimbus.
      So now on to you...I would stick with the Gel-Ziruss, especially if the Nimbus you owned was older like an 18 or prior. You basically have a Nimbus in your hand in the form of this shoe, and I assume at a cheaper price too :) Let me know if you have any more questions!

      Hey there, Unfortunately I have not picked up the 27 yet but I hope to do so soon. Yes the 26 runs so much shorter than the 25. Asics is a brand that likes to fiddle around with the sizing of their main models year after year. My best recommendation to you at the moment is to ensure you try it on in store before you order online, because there is no guarantee that the 27 will fit like the 26. • @kickinit7018
      @kickinit7018  3 года назад

      Hello FMD! I assume by midarch you mean a neutral arch? The real question to ask is how does it feel at the current moment? You can still train in an overpronation/stability shoe even with neutral arches, you'll just be benefitting from extra support. The only thing to note is that structured shoes like the Kayano because they are built for overpronation may have a bit of a stiffer midsole. This is not to say they can't be comfortable, I swear by the Gel-Kayano and train plenty in mine, but it is something to pay attention to and decide on. Hence, the shoe is going to provide you with great extra support, but how does it feel when you try it on at the moment (it is only going to get softer by the way). Let me know what you end up doing:)

    • @kickinit7018
      @kickinit7018  2 года назад +1

      No problem my friend, I am glad I could help! This all depends on what type of foot arch you have. The Saucony Triumph and the Gel-Nimbus are both made for neutral runners. Whereas the Gel-Kayano 28 is built for people who are flat footed.
      If you are flat footed go with the Kayano. If you are neutral choose between the Nimbus and Saucony. I have never tried the Saucony, but I do know the Nimbus is an excellent runner with plenty of cushion. I have a bit of overpronation/flat-footedness in my right foot so I swear by the Gel-Kayano religiously as I need the extra support, especially because I have a torn ACL. You can also wear the Kayano if you think you would need extra support, which it sounds like you might (no it would not matter if you were flatfooted). That one works best for me!
      If you do not know if you are neutral arched or flat footed I would go to your nearest Asics or running room and they can actually do a test on you to see and then recommend you the best pair! I use to work retail and I would do this for customers all the time! Let me know if you have anymore questions :)

      @kickinit7018  2 года назад

      @@sukhsandsingh4369 Hey Suk! No problem, if it was up to me I'd be even faster in my replies, but as you know life gets busy my friend. I'd definitely go with the regular Nimbus...so right now they are in the 23. This or even last year's 22 (which If you can find will be discounted) will work. Do not go with the Nimbus Lite...it is still cushioned but because it is the lighter version of the original, they tend to cut on the cushioning a bit which won't be great for your condition!
      As for the Kayano, the Kayano although its Duomax support is meant for people with overpronation, does not mean neutrals cannot benefit. At the end of the day, this is an extra layer support in the shoe that takes stress off of your knees and ankles. Some neutral people don't like it as it tends to add a level of stiffness to the shoe, but I've fitted many people in my retail days who were neutral but swore by the Kayano! It's all a personal preference, which is why the best thing you can do is try it on in the store. Even take it home or try them out for 5 minutes on a treadmill (as long as they are not scuffed up, they can still be returned). Hope that helps my friend :)

      Hey my friend, try doing your normal landing with the Kayano's and see if it helps! Also the Gel-Kayano is a stability runner so it has a very stiff midsole. I think once you break it in a bit it is going to get a lot better! It typically does start off quite stiff and your arches may ache a bit at the beginning.

I still personally think that a shoe with more support like the GT-1000s, 2000's, or Gel-Kayano may be a bit better for your arch type (no arch)! Either way, if you do get the Novablasts let me know what colour you get and how they feel:)!

My toe angle is more towards varus for both left and right. i got these results from ASICS showroom. The treadmill test showed me mild overpronation on left and mild to neutral on right. One expert at showroom insisted I buy on Nimbus Gel and another suggested Kayano due to left overpronation. I am confused to buy between Kayano gel 28 and Nimbus 23 gel. Glad to hear you just got into running! You definitely will need a solid running shoe to go with. I am not to familiar with the Mizuno brand so I cannot speak too much on that, but my personal recommendation out of the Cumulus and Nimbus would be the Nimbus. It is a bit more expensive, but it is Asics' premium running shoe for neutral runners. Not only does it have outstanding support, but what makes it better than the cumulus is the comfort. It is so much softer than the cumulus and arguably one of Asics' softest shoes!

    • @kickinit7018

      There is not one sneaker that is best for both because both of these tasks demand completely different shoes. Shoes that are great for running will require running shoes like the Gel-Kayano, Nimbus, or GT-2000. Shoes that are used for weight training need to be lower to the floor and have lateral support (which running shoes don't have). I can't fully remember the names of these Asics lifting shoes that are lower to the floor but I do know they have them!

    • @kickinit7018

      Hello my friend! The Kayano won't be the best shoe for heel pain! The Kayano, given that it is built for overpronation tends to be a little bit more stiff. It is not horrible as the forefoot and heel have great gel cushioning, but for example, the Gel-Nimbus although it is built for neutrals has way more gel-cushioning in the heel and would be a lot better for the heel pain.

      Hello Meljo, I am so sorry I am getting back to this now. For some reason, youtube is not sending me notifications for this video. If you have not purchased the shoe yet, I'd definitely recommend the Kayano 27. Since you are a bit of a heavier person, the extra support will be perfect for you. • @kickinit7018
      @kickinit7018  4 года назад

      Hi there Antonio,
      So I have a similar situation with my feet. One is flat footed and overpronates, one is neutral/high arch, but still over pronates (like you). Given that I have bad knees I stick with the Kayano because I need that extra support. When I am not wearing the Kayano during physical activity I tend to get knee pain. However, the one thing I dislike a bit about the Gel-Kayano is that with that great support comes stiffness. It eventually breaks in as you know and feels great; however, the Kayano is nowhere near as comfortable cushion wise as the Gel-Nimbus.
      I will say though, since the Gel-Kayano 26, they have been adding more gel to the Kayano. Hence, it is still a bit stiff but a bit more comfortable off the bat. Here is a link below to my video on the Gel-Kayano 26 where I show you visually how it has more gel-cushioning compared to the previous year model the 25! It starts at 1 Minute and 26 seconds.
      ruclips.net/video/ppAqrik5lSs/видео.html
      I guess this is my recommendation. If you have no health issues, for example good kness and don't get foot pain when wearing regular shoes other than the Kayano etc, definitely give the Nimbus a try! It is a solid running shoe with incredible cushioning, it is like walking on a cloud. However, if you have or have had any foot, knee or back pain in the past and you do not feel that when wearing the Kayano, i'd definitely stick with the Gel-Kayano then.
      I hope that helps my friend. Please if you have any more questions, fire away! :)

      Hey my friend! That depends more so on you and your preference. A person who is neutral and runs in the Kayano will simply be receiving extra support from the shoe. Now for some this is fine, I know some people who are neutral and swear by the Kayano. Even if you are neutral arched, you can still take advantage and enjoy this extra support. It won't do no harm, it'll just be a more supportive runner.

    • @kickinit7018
      @kickinit7018  4 года назад +1

      Hello Weny, in terms of comfort, the Gel-Nimbus will be more comfortable as it has less structure inside of it. It also has a great amount of gel this will be the softer shoe. Which one has more room I cannot say because Asics changes the size every year. For example, the gel-nimbus 18 was a very wide shoe with plenty of room in the toe box. The Gel-Nimbus 20 was a lot more of a narrow shoe. So because of the yearly modifications unless it is tried on it is difficult to determine. Look out for wide sizes though. Asics typically makes models of many of their shoes in what is called D, 2D or 4D. These are sizes that are 1x, 2x, or 4x the width the size of the shoe for those with wide feet! I am sure the Nimbus and Kayano both have D options!

      Michael, yes for sure in this situation. You can think of the Gel-Kayano as an orthotic based shoe. I use to wear custom orthotics but after wearing the Kayano I stopped because that is how structured the support is in the Kayano. With that being said, putting the orthotics in the Kayano would be almost like putting an orthotic on top of an orthotic. It would be too much structure, your best bet here is the Nimbus!

      Unfortunately, the shoe is a bandaid solution my friend. The Kayano itself will stop the overpronation from happening BUT it does not make your arch neutral. That would be incredible though!

      Sorry for the late response Vikas, my comments on this video never seem to be informing me! It depends on your foot type. If you are more flat footed, than Kayano. If you are not flat footed, than Nimbus. If you prefer a shoe that is softer, than Nimbus is way to go as well!

    Neutral vs Stability.
    All cushioned nueutral shoes are named after clouds because they are light and soft. Cumulus and Nimbus... i sold Asics for 18 years.
    High arches or underpronators need more cushion.
    80% of the population pronates.

    • @kickinit7018

      Hey Amrit! The Nimbus is definitely better for someone with a high arch. You can also go with the Asics Gel-Cumulus if you have a high arch as well!

      Hello Rachel, sorry for my delayed response. If you are an underpronator definitely go with the Gel-Nimbus! It serves the purpose of working well for neutrals and underproantors and I have had many underpronating customers enjoy as well in the past!

      Normally I'd recommend it more so for if you pronate. However, if you do feel like you need extra support for whatever the reason, the support in these will be exactly what you are looking for. Even if you are neutral!
