    Yes. The answer is yes. It doesn't make you learn techniques but allows you to practice the techniques over and over and still being able to recover.

      One of the coaches, who is also an MMA fighter, was also pushing me to lighten up. I wasn't being intentionally rough, but it was happening. So, he said, "If you don't lighten up on the less experienced guys, we are going to put on the MMA gloves, and I'll show you what going hard is." I immediately backed off and have not had a problem since.

    they do but you first need a technical base and at train natty till you are black belt I believe to not make the habbit of muscling stuff. Thats what Gordon did, he juiced when he was already technical now he added physicality to his technical base

    The way I assess if somebody is a really good black belt , as if they understand Bruce Lee’s philosophy that the best technique is there is no technique. Now, for people that have depth of understanding, they will understand. to the jiu-jitsu purist that lives in a box with their thinking, they will take high offense to it, lack of understanding. Just to let you know, my brother I started jiu-jitsu at 39 years old and next month I will be 54 and I am ever improving and no lol I don’t roll like an old man. I roll like I’m like 20 years old sometimes I feel my age for sure once in a while . But One thing I’ve learned and I’m not a black belt, but I do have a black belt mentality in that you cannot confine somebody to one specific technique or execution for any specific part of jiu-jitsu. I think you understand this most black belts are just black belts like danaher says that there’s black belts and there’s Black belts!
    I’ve seen belts below black and convey a lesson technique and moves better than a black belt being said without getting too long-winded
    There are some core basics as building frames keeping your hands inside not exposing your arms, etc. etc. etc.
    this mindset has believe it or not has really up to my game a lot and it has incredibly help me to relax and flow a lot more, transition etc
    but thank you for your wisdom. It is very good, your channels awesome

    A similar comparison, as a blue belt man, I've tapped out every female black belt I've rolled with just on shear strength, with inferior technique. I'm not bragging, btw 😂

    Can someone please explain this steroid thing. I agree fighters should be on an even playing field however I've heard many people say steriods don't win a fight.. so my question is why the big fuss ?? For example, Ryan Garcia gets caught and people went mental! they said ohh no! he could've killed Haney!.. my point is the same people who say its dangerous for a enhanced fighter to fighter against a natty fighter also say steroids don't win fights!... Jon jones beat many guys who were juiced according to him so whats the big fuss if someones on PEDs ?

    Look no further than Gordon Ryan if you want to know how steroids can help your BJJ career. His technique is amazing, but he also awkwardly takes pride in doing steroids and thinks BJJ is great for not testing. If Gordon never juiced would he #1 have the accolades he has? #2 would be have the same medical issues he's been having? Those are the questions I have 🤷

      Wow- that's a common misconception about roids. Their main advantage is they allow you to train harder and recovery faster. This argument tries to give too much credit to the person and not the steroids. Studies on roids show traing with roids is the best for increasing strength, but sitting on your ass and taking roids was also much better than training alone. And steroids give an almost permanent increased capacity for muscle strength.
      There are also PEDS that increase your reaction time.

    4:55 I feel the same way about steroids as you do, but I don’t judge these people at all and quite frankly Gordon Ryan is juiced and gills and he is the most technical person in the world or at least one of them. That’s why he’s the best being said I’ve seen some big juice heads that rely onstrength with some technique and yes, you’re correct about that. Oh yeah, everything is a Ying and yang my brother that’s my opinion. Anyway I love interacting with your channel.

    Obviously they don’t improve your jiu jitsu skills or your martial arts skills but they massively increase your physical prowess and that’s what makes it dangerous in combat sports, a highly skilled guy juiced to the gills is just completely unfair and dangerous to those competing against them

    Biggest takeaway from this video, "even the most technical guys are on steroids". It's admirable to compete at a high level naturally, but it's unlikely a natural competitor will win a grand tournament at black.

  • @honestjohn8894
    @honestjohn8894 4 месяца назад

    I see what you're saying coach technique over strength but I feel if you have both you're more at an advantage. Don't get me wrong i'm talking all natural but I believe lifting weights or doing some kind of resistance training definitely helps for rolling and longevity. Many bjj guys have got injuries/pain of doing it for years but never lifted weights. The guys/Girls that lift/resistance train are strengthening their joints/bones/tendons etc
