My mother loved her Elvis Presley. My mom said she met him when he came to the fairgrounds on Colored night. She said, “Elvis was beautiful, almost angelic-like. He was handsome and polite. He sang gospel with them, and he was the perfect Southern gentleman. He dressed, walked, talked, and danced like a confident distinguish Black man in the 50’s.”

Is it six generations back? There are many reports that differ greatly on the topic of Elvis having Cherokee ancestry. I've read articles that say his maternal great, great, great Grandmother was Cherokee and then other articles say he was only 1/32 Cherokee? I've also heard that he's a distance relative of Oprah Winfrey, apparently they are cousins? I'm not being a smart ass or anything like that I'm genuinely just curious as to which of the many differing reports are correct.🙂

I was stunned when I heard someone say elvis was racist. Every black person that knew him said that couldnt be further from the truth. Chuck berry , bo Didley, sammy davis jr & cissy have said its nonsense & they loved him. Cissy was beaming showing a gold bracelet elvis bought her which he had inscribed a message to her. She showed it to oprah & had kept it all these years. It was so sad that she one day wanted to pass it on to her daughter whitney who had passed. So oprah suggested giving it to whitney's daughter & she said she would. Sadly her granddaughter passed to. I cant imagine burying ur baby then 3 years later burying ur babys baby.
Anyway every person that knew elvis has nothing but great things to say about him. This is a man that a black woman just said to him that she admired his car & he threw her the keys & said " its urs " I mean how incredibly generous. Whitney also said she was in awe of elvis as a little girl bc her mom brought her to some of he4 sessions. Another one who says elvis was so nice to her. She said elvis had such an aura u couldnt take ur eyes off of him. Ann Margaret I find to be very classy in that she will never discuss anything personal about his life. That's how much he meant to her. John lennon said many times that if their was no elvis their would be no Beatles. Those guys worshipped him as teens.

About Elvis and Myrna this is what I've found on the net "In a documentary called, This Time, Smith admitted that Elvis tried to pursue a relationship with her. This isn’t too surprising, as their have been rumors that Elvis was very fond of the ladies. However, it might surprise you that Presley loved black women as he was a rumored racist. Smith dispels those rumors with her open and candid conversation about the love she shared for Elvis. In the video, Smith shared that she and Elvis were often flirty with each other, however, they worked together. Aside from them working together, Smith had a boyfriend, Gregory, that was apart of the band as well. However, that didn’t stop the King from showing Smith love and affection. Elvis’ dear friend, Jerry Schilling, loved Smith too. Unlike the king, Schilling never stopped pursing Smith and he eventually won her over. Smith even married Schilling briefly from 1982-1987." 😁

Where has the rumour about him being racist come from? My guess (can't be more than that) is that he was a poor southern white boy. And then a simple assumption is made. In fact, it's possibly/probably a form of racism in itself.
