    UNSTOPPABLE. Best performance of the clay season so far

      Olly Paton Gotta be kidding me... Del Potro was so obviously tired

    • @gherbihicham8506
      @gherbihicham8506 6 лет назад +2

      I though he was great at Monte Carlo, but that was a best of three sets, here his first serve percentage dropped a lot, but his forehand is great.

    • @Olly_2024_

      TheNabOwnzz seemed good enough to me. Rafa was just unplayable

    • @Onmysheet
      @Onmysheet 6 лет назад +1

      He wasn't tired, he just deflated after losing the 1st set and lost his focus.

  • @trevorlongley8995
    @trevorlongley8995 6 лет назад +202

    Regardless of what anyone has to say, he's truly a remarkable champion. To be able to come back time and time again after debilitating injuries, overcome all odds and rise to the top every time speaks of his greatness. Is he the GOAT? To me it doesn't matter. What matters is his champion's mentality and his never say die attitude. And in that area he is the best

    • @napchill
      @napchill 6 лет назад +4

      Don't you find it odd that he could come back from so many "debilitating injuries" almost better than before? Completely crushing outlasting players much younger and fresher than him? All that while playing perhaps the most physically grueling style in tennis history. He's most likley the Lance Armstrong of tennis.

    • @trevorlongley8995
      @trevorlongley8995 6 лет назад +28

      napchill Rafa's mindset and work ethic are the reasons he's able to come time and time again. Even his competitors note this about him. So you can keep your conspiracy theories.

    • @napchill
      @napchill 6 лет назад +5

      Work ethic don't give you superhuman abilities or allow you to defy the laws of nature.

    • @Mythos189

      napchill Mate I started to love tennis with this guy Rafa Nadal I am a die hard Nadal fan and you have to admit what ve has done on clay is inhuman dont you think 85-2 now isnt it ? If he can win 11th title it will be a sight to behold just like Federers 20 grand slam I consider myself lucky to be watching champions like fed,nadal, djoko.

    • @napchill
      @napchill 6 лет назад +3

      Yes indeed, I think he's an incredible player, regardless of my conspiracies. He might end his career as the goat. Though I do believe that at this level probably all athletes are on something. Some get caught but most don't.

    Rafa and Delpo had a nice rivalry in 2017 and 2018. That amazing 2017 US Open match where somehow Rafa's groundstrokes matched the firepower of Delpo's! Then this RG meet up in 2018 where Rafa absolutely overpowered the gentle giant. Then that incredible 5 setter at Wimbledon, an absolute epic with both going toe to toe and Rafa managing to survive. Finally, they met again at the US Open and then it was Delpo's turn to go as big as his forehand! Love them both and miss them already ❤

    • @anisbougrab4725
      @anisbougrab4725 6 лет назад +24

      Tom Deverson Honesly it could have been closer because del potro should have won the first set he was the better player and had a lot of break points but couldn't convert them (i recall one a 4-4 where he has a pretty easy forehand in his racquet to break rafa and serve for the set but he misses it ) Also he was a bit unlucky on the set point where rafa touches the line with miraculous shot and at that moment del potro was done mentally .
      But i think that Thiem will be better on sunday and win the first set but can he win the 2 others ... I seriously doubt it

    • @protectthesun1519
      @protectthesun1519 6 лет назад +6

      I didnt want a closer match cause he played already too much/too soon before the final... but i know what you mean his brilliance was almost boring today... Cant wait for the double Uno!!

    • @tom0176devo
      @tom0176devo 6 лет назад +6

      anis zizou yes imo Delpo was the better player for the first set, but Nadal played a great game when Delpo was serving to stay in the set. After that though Delpo looked frustrated and tired and Nadal looked full of confidence.

    • @anisbougrab4725
      @anisbougrab4725 6 лет назад +5

      Tom Deverson Yeah he knew he missed his chances and that he wouldn't be able to hang in there physically to win 3 sets after he lost the first . And we all know that rafa's level gets better and better as far as the match advances so if you don't win the first set then it is mission impossible.

    Unstoppable force vs Immovable object. The immovable object won today!
    Whatever bombs Delpo threw at Rafa, it came back with interest. The greatest counter puncher in the history of the game was too good, for one of the hardest hitters of all time. That's why only a prime Djokovic aka the WALL with his insane defenses, can legitimately challenge a in-form Rafa in a 5-setter on clay.
    Nadal for sure will be pushed by Thiem in the finals. Dominic, with his incredible foot speed and insane top spin of both flanks will pose much more of a challenge than Del Potro. And sub-par Nadal can be beaten on clay, as witnessed in Madrid.

      100% Novak vs 100% Rafa and Rafa will win. They have both played at 100% before at Roland Garros and Nadal has prevailed! Novak only beat him i 2015 which is statistically Nadal's worst year.

    • @gherbihicham8506
      @gherbihicham8506 6 лет назад +1

      There was hardly any counter punching today, Nadal plays straight forward tennis, he defends when he has to, and attacks the instant he finds a chance, the word counter puncher hardly ever describes what Nadal does anymore, that's why tennis analysts no longer use it, he is probably the best aggressive player on the tour , and I say the best not because he is agressive all the time, but he actually knows when and when not to pull the trigger.
      Nadal is an agressive baseliner, Murray and Gilles Simon are probably the best examples of counter puncher players.

    Cheering for Thiem for the finals, Rafa is the second best tennis player in the world and deserves the win on the clay but it's always fun watching an upset live, something people would talk about for a while. Compare this match in the semi finals which was quick and uneventful to Djokovic and the Italians quarter final match which was, in my opinion, the best match of this tournament by far.

      Nadal should win but for me there is no reason why Thiem can't beat him, he did it in Madrid a couple of weeks ago(admittedly it was only a three set match) and was far superior. Schwartzman showed that Nadal could be exploited, if there wasn't a rain delay I reckon the Argentine may have won.

    A hot dog, this Nadal. It seems, he is obsessed of tennis. His technical skills are very good, he is playing a very tricky game. And a difference for me to much other clay-specialists is, that he goes to the net sometimes and plays very good volleys. I am very happy, that we live in a time, where we can watch the best tennis players of a long, long time (maybe of all time) with Federer, Nadal and Nole.

    As amazing and ridiculous as Nadal is on clay, the way he keeps dominating opponents match after match on this Grand Slam makes it worthless to watch. If his matches were somewhat contested and exciting, I wouldn't mind him winning that much, but his matches on RG are so boring because of his domination over any opponent. Very few people have contested him on this GS (Federer, Isner, Djokovic, and a few others). I truly hope that the final is at least a tight and exciting match, whichever the outcome.

    I thought Del Po was going to at least take a set off Rafa. Especially since Rafa looked a little vulnerable versus Schwartzman. But for Rafa to routine him today is an excellent indication of the kind of form he is in. Of course Them has a chance on Sunday. Thiem is a very good player and handed Rafa his only loss of the clay court season in Madrid. However, Rafa has Never lost a French final. And this is best 3 out of 5. He is fit, match tough and in great form. Vamos Rafa!!
