Pollinating a Philodendron / Thaumatophyllum With @Eddy_pranoto18

- This is hands down one of the most adventurous episode I have filmed. I follow Eddy Pranoto in his quest to pollenate a philodendron (and/or thaumatophyllum) at his secret hidden forest. We come across a massive thaumatophyllum the size of a 5 story building and proceeded to pollenate. This episode is filled with humor and jokes, perhaps because I was trying hard to put my mind into a happier place while being consumed alive by throngs of mosquitos. Eddy gets very technical about how he pollenates the philodendrons, and how their process differ from Anthuriums. Don’t miss the photo updates of the hybridization at the end of the video!

@@onlyplants I can only imagine! You live in paradise!
This really is my idea of paradise. 🌱❤
Minus the bloodthirsty mosquitos hehe
@@onlyplants Yes, minus the mosquito's 🦟 🤣
Very interesting Sean, thank you ❄️💚🙃
😀😀
Thank you so much! I have watched other videos on this topic, can wait for some more of mine to get big enough to flower.
That’s so awesome, how cool to see them in all their glory!! Very interesting to see the flower pods and pollen. Yay for hybridization.
Very interesting and a different type of video from you. But again, interesting. Love your content.
Thank you ❤️
This was so amazing and I love being able to learn more about how hybrids come into being. Thank you Sean! ❤️
I learnt so much too! Glad to bring my audience with me on these educational sessions hha
Thank you for another excellent video.🐸
😀😀
Wow is that beautiful. Not just the plant, but the area.
I guess this is a good example of re-wilding
So interesting and I think a little bit thrilling because you never know what the outcome will be! I hope Eddy was kidding about the four season resort; such beautiful habitat. You could wrap yourself up in one of those Thaumatophyllum leaves! Good rain and mosquito protection.
Wow! wow! Those are so huge. I’m originally from the Philippines and now living in Ohio, U.S. Aren’t you guys scared that there might be snakes. I know I would. I never ventured in the forest of the Philippines when I was living there.....scares me. Thank you.
I did not think about snakes until now. Lol
@@onlyplants they're adorable some of them are from a distance though.
Thanks for the video!
Forgot mosquito spray? 😄
Haha wasnt expecting a hike at all
O M G .... jaw wide open, peed a bit on my seat, watching those BIG ass leaves ... WOW!
Total HUGE Giant Gila.... indeed!
Haha amazing right! A lot of our aroids can get huge actually
So amazing thank u for sharing
Thanks for sharing this type of content! I'm looking forward to trying to make some hybrids myself, but with the extremely short period during which you can keep the pollen, it might be impossible to do so, especially since I live in a cold climate and getting a Philodendron to flower would already be impressive.
Yeah this is why we see way more anthurium hybrids than philodendrons.
Love these videos hope we’ll get to see the outcome after a year or so
😀
Yaoloooo kk Sean, insane idea - to open b&b and apprenticing anthurium or philo pollination over there in heavenly Lopait
😀😀
Fascinating!
"Anyone else think this is fun?"
Me: it's fun seeing how to rub the inflorescence to get the pollen, it reminds me of something else lol.
I love huge leaves. Thank you for making this video!
😀😀
This is history in the making
That was quite an adventure for you sean. For awhile I did not recognize your voice. The pitch of your voice changes in your local language. ☺️
Hehe I actually dont speak very well in Indonesian. Some people say its very child-like. Which would make sense since I learnt Indonesian only up to kindergarten level.
Make a video about dark anthurium in karteldaun would be interesting too😁
I did one but with Tujuan Bumi, for May release. i have made plans to visit kartel daun soon!
