IT IS SO GREAT to see your son at 15 appreciating this song. r&b and funk and he is LIVING for it...I am commenting a couple years after you posted so at 17 I hope he still enjoys it. He strikes me as a future base guitar player.
Like a brick sh** house. When this saying came out, the Sears and Roebuck catalog was the most popular magazine in the US. The precursor to Charmin. 15 and he didn't understand 36-24-36? Dad, you're dragging your feet. This is the perfect dance song. Fast enough to "shake it", but slow enough to dance cheek to cheek.
Really cool song. I loved it.😊👍 So I've learnt something new today. If I ever come to America and want someone to build me a brick house, ... well, have to make sure he knows what I mean. 😂😄
Classic song. So many old school songs in this genre. Many are mentioned in the comments. I will just post the first one that came to my mind, The Dazz Band "Let It Whip" Great reactions Ethan and Larry.
Isley Brothers - "Who's That Lady" .. "Climbin' Up The Ladder" .. "Voyage To Atlantis" ... with the Isley Brothers, you get Funk and Rock all in the same band! Ernie Isley is a monster guitar player.
She’s a 🧱.... 🏡. Let’s Dance 💃 🕺 ❤️.... btw Ethan, those “numbers” that Lionel was singing out aren’t anything you need to be concerned with just yet 😛
You left out the middle word as well, we have the same expression from back in the day when the 'loo' was outside of the house. How are you Marissa, are you having a super day in South Texas today?
Great Groove. Great reaction. They did a fantastic ballad with "Sail On" there's even a live version with Kenny Rogers (of all people) singing along. Equally groovy? Earth, Wind & Fire - Fantasy Mother's Finest - Baby Love or Love Changes. Gerorge Clinton/Parliament Funkadelic - We want the funk. War - Low Rider. The Average White Band - Pick up the Pieces Wild Cherry - Play that funky music
Funk is so fun. Disco and funk both have a way of making you move no matter your mood. My suggestion for funky/groovy would be Earth Wind and Fire - September. I also have a suggestion for a full album reaction or live listen. I noticed you have done a lot of Pink Floyd but have not touched Dark Side of the Moon yet. That album should be listened to start to finish and would be a great one to hit for 10k.
I think you'd get a kick out of the group The Spinners' song "Rubber Band Man." If you've seen "The Avengers: Infinity Wars", you might recognize the song.
Loved your reaction.. I think it's a fun, danceable tune. Commodores had alot of hits back in the 70's, then in the early 80s Lionel went solo. He has one of those recognizable voices. I recomend another classic, upbeat song, this one by Tone Loc, "Funky Cold Medina". Have a wonderful day.❤
I was grinning ear to ear during this reaction. I'm fascinated with young Ethans appreciation of "Funky" music. You absolutely have to react to aome AWB. The Average White Band has some of the best funky music ever made. Pick Up the Pieces, Schoolboy Crush, and Cut the Cake. I was laughing when Larry started to give his son "The Talk". Keep up the good work guys.

Not much of a funk fan here, but that song is very catchy. I've heard it before but had no idea who did it until now. I like the bass in funk music. Bass is something that never seems to get the recognition it deserves IMO. I think dad knows but didn't want to say it in front of his son but the original saying back in the 60's was "Wow, she's built like a brick shithouse". Many rural homes in the fifties and sixties still had outhouses, mostly made of wood but the classier and more well-built ones were brick

A Q&A with an album reaction is a great idea. My 3 picks for an album reaction would be: Boston, their self titled debut album, Styx " Pieces Of Eight", and the Who "Who's Next"..dang, can I add Rush? Any album will do.
With regards to the album reactions idea, one of my suggestions for revisiting ELO was Concerto For A Rainy Day, which is a 19-minute extended piece of music composed of four songs, and was Side 3 on the vinyl double-album Out Of The Blue. I know you're familiar with the last track in that sequence, Mr Blue Sky, but this would be hearing it in the proper album context of the sun finally coming out after three songs about rain and storms. You also haven't told us where you have heard Mr Blue Sky before, so if it was from the Guardians Of The Galaxy 2 soundtrack, you haven't heard the outro. Concerto For A Rainy Day has an intro for track 1 as well as the outro on track 4.
I second this. I remember you suggesting this to me Dave, and it was excellent. Very funny that you brought this up today. I heard some music blasting in my house earlier, and it was my dad watching a reaction video to Thunderstruck! (I’ll get back to Out of the Blue in a second) I immediately stopped him, and brought him here to Father and Son. He ended up watching F and S’s recent Van Halen reaction, left a comment there a few hours back. Not sure if he’ll be joining us consistently, but he certainly knows that we’re here. I also told him about JEM, but I didn’t get a chance to actually show him since he was in a hurry to show me all of his albums, as I haven’t seen them before. We came across “Out of the Blue,” and he started going off on how great the album is. Again, this was a couple hours ago, right around the time you posted this comment so it was all perfect timing!
