  • Could Australian Property tip over the edge of no return?

I'm delighted to have James Kirby, Wealth Editor at The Australian, discuss with me:
👉 The chances of a 'soft landing' in the US
👉 Australia's near term economic outlook - recession?
👉 Chances of Sydney/ Melbourne housing drifting sideways for years
👉 The ONE THING he believes gives property investors the edge
👉 How Negative Gearing might go in the next election, but not how we would expect!

It's always fun to have a property 'outsider' challenge our beliefs - you'll get a lot of benefit from this one! ✌️

    Discussion Points:
    00:00: Introduction
02:42: What is a ‘Wealth Editor’?
07:05: The Market never lies: soft landing in the US
13:17: Buying property: economists vs investor perspective
    18:00: Property market tipping point?
26:45: Negative gearing in the next election
    33:48: Conclusion

PK I’ve had over 12.5% growth in 8 months at Bribie Island due to the limited land supply this place is a gem- I picked up a 3,1,1 brick 🧱 home for 604k 100m from the beach 🏝️ it’s unreal. People are screaming for rentals as it’s mainly owner/occupied; Somewhere to look into my friend 😉

Property is ok...It's the oligarchy of powers surrounding the market ..That is the problem.Houses were built from the hands of the masses(common folk)The market is controlled by the few.Banks, councils, and Gov..This is a problem.

Australia is in the early stage of creating corporate landlord-ship, which is good for the gov, easier to manage and more tax income. You will see soon enough that big banks together with property corporations/trusts are buying up properties to control & "manipulate" the market.

Hi pk Do you follow the 18 year property cycle? How will that be impacted with the Australian housing shortage? Can you do a video on it please. 🙏

Please don't interview idiot journalists. This guy has no idea about property. Never take property advice from someone who sounds like they don't own any. Even 3% growth on property you bought on a 10% deposit is a 30% return on your cash, stick below 500k purchase and the rest is funded by the bank and renters. Try find an index fund that will return 30% or do it with stock and get margin called into oblivion. While the property doesn't remain at 3% but doubles or triples every 10 years or so.

You gotta take into consideration of 6% interest + all the maintenance cost every year. You’re looking at the property negatively geared approx $10k each year easily. And please don’t call someone an idiot when they’re just simply sharing sharing thoughts about the property market.
