    Maybe it's because I am a frustrated wannabe music interviewer/ journalist, but when you are interviewing artist of her stature- you have got to make them feel as if this is their first interview- nix all of those same tired ass questions and subjects that everybody asks and knows- research and ask them things that are worthy of them. instead of asking about how Stevie came to write Tell me something good- ask her what was the lesson she learned by not speaking up and getting writing credits on that song because she did co-write it Stevie there on the spot. when she said that Jazz was her first love- ask her to talk about the Great Jazz album Echos of an Era and how it came about and so forth and so on....

      Omg you said exactly what I was thinking! It’s so funny, I basically finished his questions before he did, it was that predictable. But hey, Chaka always gets to her main point, as wobbly as her journey there may be hahah

    • @powder-blue
      @powder-blue 4 года назад +2

      Oh and also, every time she describes how she met Prince she adds another little detail. I’m always entertained. One day she is going to write a song about him ala “miles blowin” or “Coltrane Dreams”

    I love Chaka, but the first number one song to include a rap was Blondie's "Rapture," released in 1981. That same year, Teena Marie released "Square Biz," which also incorporated rap. "I Feel For You" was released in 1984.

    • @steventate651
      @steventate651 3 года назад +4

      In fairness, "I Feel For You" was the first top five hit to have a guest rapper - which is now so commonplace that it's hardly noticed anymore. Debbie Harry and Teena Marie rapped - but Chaka's was the first collabo. So "I Feel For You" really was revolutionary...

    • @timothyfitz1010
      @timothyfitz1010 3 года назад

      @@steventate651 what you said maybe true, but he said, "it was the first record to incorporate a rap to be that successful." That statement isn't true.

    • @steventate651
      @steventate651 3 года назад +3

      @@timothyfitz1010 "Square Biz" and "Rapture" had raps as part of their original composition. Prince's original version of "I Feel for You" did not have a rap. Chaka Khan's cover incorporated a rap. Thus, Teena Marie and Blondie may have had hits earlier that had rap as part of them...but Khan's "I Feel for You" introduced rap to a composition that didn't have it before. Thus, saying Teena Marie and Blondie incorporated raps into their songs before Khan isn't actually true...

      Thank you for schooling @Timothy Fitz. I was waiting for some clueless soul to jump up and scream "Blondie" or "Teena" not letting or allowing black people to be great. Had he took more time to understand what was meant by the statement and less trying to be right he wouldn't look like an azz here!!!!!

      @@thegoose2724 First.: You calling out people as ass? Makes you the ass!! I am an ass. Because it takes one to call one. You are an ASS my friend. Second; You are a racist! You make this argument because Chaka is black! Your own punk words. Teena Marie, hispanic. Third: Nothing can be more incorporated than something conceived and executed as one whole from the beginning. Adding raps later is not better incorporation!!
      Only the very arbitrary measures of sales and plays which have little to do with greatness are worthy of comparative discussion. Art IS NOT a race. Last: try to keep a civil tongue in your head! God bless. Have a good day.
