At 2:13, 3:28 regarding balance. Have seen others note to test by holding at front of tab vs. rear, to ensure balance slightly forward. At 11:25, 11:28 "Do NOT hot plug" in wings. Red labels ... LOL (better to unplug main battery before reattaching wings) NOTE: KIT edition does not have come with hot-plug feature, as I've discovered Thanks for keeping it real. ;)
When you said you reduced the throws it would have been nice if you had zoomed in and showed what the throws looked like. I am about to maiden mine and I will need to reinvent the wheel.
The red warnings on the wings say "Do not hot plug" and then you hot plugged them. Luckily nothing got smoked. By how many aileron and servo servo horn holes did you move the pushrods inward?
@@EssentialRC check the way he is holding it in the manual again :) Also every manufacturer of RC planes will give you CG point pushed forward a bit (to make it nose heavy) as in general it is easier to control nose heavy plane than tail heavy.
Glad you maidened this one What a load of ol POO. ill stick with my zhod which has the same boom connection and is waaaaay more stable. So cheers for the heads up This is one I'll SCRATCH OF MY SHOPPING LIST Cheers Brian
@@EssentialRC hi dont know if you've flown the zhod drift on 3s....what a kite. If you haven't flow one try it then your see why i said this one was poo Have a great weekend Brian
Drift is totally different Brian 😄. For zero or low wind. Surely you don't judge a new RC just from the maiden flight?! There's always things to correct to get it flying well as in this case.
@@EssentialRC well must say the drift straight out the box brilliant flown it in 12..15..mph winds or just chop the throttle and kite ive got loads of my drift vids on YT. BUT I MUST ADMIT IT NEEDS THE 3S WITH THE 3 PROP TO GET THE BEST OUTOF IT... I'll be interested to see how you get on with the kite normally people use non lipos to do long range perhaps it needs the extra weight up front Have a good 1 Brian
I'm not sure a rudder would actually help much with ground handling because this is a twin. I think differential power using the left (rudder) stick could be better. I'll work on configuring that over the next few days.
That thing needs a FC and some aileron stability but also needs an undercarriage in rhe same way a motorcycle needs an ashtray. 😁 I love these little drones type things though, but not the V-tail versions too much.
I'm loathed to add more weight to something so small. The gyro helped a lot except on that first landing (possible glitch). Yeah...the landing gear is a bit unsightly but I thought better than hand launching for a first flight. I'll dispense with it on future flights. 😎
Thanks Mike. Sometimes maiden flights do throw in a few challenges. Important thing is to get it high so it can be trimmed out for level flight. Looking forward to putting FPV gear, tuning the gyro and doing some smooth flying. Cheers and have a good Easter weekend !

Thanks for the tips Aerial. I'll try again soon
Nice flight demonstration and a huge difference on the 2nd flight with the reduced rates. See you in the Air!
Thanks 👍

this is one of the best models I have and would compare the flight to something as good as my strix nano goblin. Greta model
Yup. A few tweaks and suspect ours will be the same. Cheers 🍻
Looking foward to see the VTOL version with arduquad.
Great plane Dom, great the wings just popped out on the landing rather than breaking. 👍🏻
As long as they stay on in flight 😆

CG is in the front part of the hatch cover not back...
Fairly sure manual showed it as back!?

First great maiden flight... BUT i must say... the wings say there on RED labels DO NOT HOT PLUG the wings...
yeah,what a awesome job.see you on my side~guy-

I've not decided yet. Bit early to say its 'poo'. First flight and adjustments to be made. Hoping will fly better next time out.

Looks cool, to bad there's no rudder. Been thinking about trying fpv ever since your rv8 and fox videos. Looks really fun!
