It wasn't serious enough for me and I though it's going to be both of you explaining the rules which for me would be confusing. I have only played one game of A Feast for Odin, and, oddly enough, I didn't end up in the last place! :D It was a four player game, one player owned the game, other two haven't played AFFO but did play Caverna so they were familiar with how the game should work, and for me it was the first exposure to this type of games. I didn't go for pillaging, plundering or raiding, neither did I settle any island, as I was focused on filling up my main board properly. I managed not to lose points on that and I did have one house on the side, but that was it. Like I said, it surprised me that I didn't end up in last place.
    This game is amazing, I absolutely love the amount of tokens in the game and the number of different actions you can take. Even if someone blocks you (and we played very competitively) there's always something to do, something to upgrade or gain and fill up that board or at least make sure your Vikings are fed :) Pity it's so expensive to be added to a home collection just to be played occasionally :)
    Many thanks for the video, I've now refreshed my knowledge of this game and next time I'm asked to play I'll go for ships and islands :D

    Very helpful, AND informative. I did not know if the 'k' in 'knarr' was pronounced or silent. Here's why I was confused - I've known two Knutsens in my life; one pronounced his name with the 'k' (K-NUTE-son), the other without ("NUTE-son). Hence, I had NO IDEA.

    • @MeepleUniversity
      @MeepleUniversity  4 года назад +2

      Both could be considered correct, I think. English/Anglicisations will drop the k, continental languages will pronounce it. Given the theme, it felt more natural to pronounce it.

    Greetings! First of all, thanks a lot for the amazing video! I have a question about tile laying during the feast phase: you mentioned that the first tile of a specific food type can be placed horizontally, while the rest should be placed vertically. However, there is no such requirement, if I'm reading the rule book correctly. In fact, the image accompanying this rule explanation shows the first salt meat tile placed vertically and the second one horizontally. Am I missing something here? :)

    • @MeepleUniversity
      @MeepleUniversity  3 года назад +1

      Hi. Strictly speaking, I wasn't quite correct; it would have been more correct to say that the treasure chest could have prevented the loss of nine points, rather than being worth nine points in its own right.
