I had a boyfriend who had a rough childhood. He told me all about it at the beginning of our relationship. Then he would randomly bring it up again. I soon realized it wasn't random. He would bring it up whenever he wasn't getting his way. It was simply a way to manipulate me into getting his own way. Fortunately, I came to this realization fairly quickly and ended the relationship.

HArry didn't have a 'rough' childhood. He was a pampered brat who was spoilt. Charles was very affectionate and we often saw the boys draped over him in loving ways. But JHarry continues to use his mother..such as the bullshyte car chase stunt he pulled. He got on the front pages of the Press he keeps taking aim at...its cringeworthy bs.

I think it sounds like Charles was a very kind loving man and he must be hurt so badly by Harry's cruel treatment of him.. Charles a kind man who when all the gossip of the day pointed to the possibilities that Harry was in fact not even his son - still took the young lad to his heart and sat with him each night until he fell asleep and watched over him and saw that he was safe at all times . Charles is always described as being a kind, thoughtful and caring man and Harry in his book has conveyed that (and yet he has made millions trashing his father) - Harry's book also highlights just how out of control, dimwitted and cruel the young boy Harry was and still is - it also highlights how he was never held to account for his cruel dangerous actions and how he used his "Mummy" and his version of the truth even as a child to get away with everything he did. I think he is a very dangerous and deluded individual.

    2. You can't add a "whole teacup" of anything to a single-serving bowl that's already occupied with a serving of pudding.
    3. You can't hide bright red Tabasco sauce in bread-and-butter pudding unless you carefully insert it under the top, making sure that it appears undisturbed. It's not a matter of just "adding" it. Did Harry disassemble and reassemble Marco's pudding?
    4. How did Harry know which pudding would be served to Marco?

Thats the thing! Harry seems to think he's uniquely alone in his struggling. His dad wasn't warm enough for his liking. Many people thing this about their fathers (and mothers)!
His older brother got an extra sausage and a bigger room. That's common among all families older and younger siblings. It's not just an heir and a spare thing.
His mom died when he was young and he has to walk behind the coffin. Horrific, yes. However, unfortunately many people have parents that die when they're young. Many kids think "mummy or daddy isn't dead, they're just on vacation or hiding and will come back for me." This is just a common way children process trauma.
Harry has built it up in his head that his suffering is leagues different than anyone else's, but it's not. He can join us back in reality and really heal if he wanted to.
I'm not saying hes tbe same as you and me - he is a prince, he grew up in castles and wearing ceremonial clothing for photographers. But his suffering is not uniquely royal and he really struggles to see it.

My father was born in 1936. He was fun, clever, unpredictable. He gave me standards, my love of music and art. He once told me he loved me. As he lay dying we were alone, he held my hand and said “I’m glad you’re here” we talked of serious stuff and rubbish. I remembered how he used to tickle my face with his eyelashes. I was 30 then, 61 now, a year later I found myself dialling his number because I needed his advice. I still find comfort in the smell of whiskey and cigarettes from when he came to say good night when I was small.
My mother, always said he was a good dad, as Princess Diana said of the King. I have no other example, but King Charles and my dad sound very similar, and having met our King several times I struggle with the hatred aimed at him from his deluded, sick youngest son.

The huge hugs from Diana when they returned from a trip, literally Charles was just behind her and did the same.
Diana manipulated the press to an enormous degree. Half the reason she got in such a mess was because she believed she could control the narrative and the British press. Unfortunately she was too stupid to realise other countries exist (even when visiting them) and they have their own press.

Have to agree with you. It is too bad that Harry had such an excellent ghost writer. If he hadn't, people might have trashed the book after the first 50 pages or so. I am only 2/3 of the way through, but have thought over and over again...Harry was not abused or even neglected. Spoiled or in need of some serious counselling, yes. There is more than one area in the book where he has endangered people and one where he openly admits being responsible for the death of two soldiers. His response? He had to keep busy so he would not think about the unthinkable...being removed again from the battlefield for the protection of others. He did himself no favors with this book.

But I am afraid their personalities are more alike than not. He is ignorant, so was easily lead astray. But being ignorant isn't his problem. Ignorance mixed with self centeredness and lack of humble character where he will not listen to the advice of others. Well, this has Harry marrying a deceitful woman and writing a book called Spare for the world to see his complete and utter shallowness as a human being.

Very few people get the time and attention they would have liked , parents are after all people too and have their own cares and responsibilities beyond children. In the book, she asks Harry about the servant carrying the Queen's purse, and Harry says, "That was her second son, Andrew." (Odd that he didn't say, "My Uncle Andrew, but OK..."

Growing up we just put ourselves to bed. My mom was often working and my older brother was left in charge. I know my mom loved me ❤. Also, the leopard story is crazy! Maybe it was just a big cat going by - nothing to do with “mummy”. He’s such an idiot !!! 😤

I’ve just discovered your channel and oh what a gem it is. Your calm voice and accent is so pleasing to the ear . I couldn’t bring myself to buy the book but feel you’ve done a great job for me, sparing me the odious fast. I’ve long thought Harry was actually not a very nice person, spoilt and protected by his parents, who righted his many wrongs for him as they knew he wasn’t very bright. I think he has a thoroughly mean and cruel streak, especially when he doesn’t get his way. I’m looking forward to following you now.

Harry confuses acquiesce ( his Mother's doting toleration of everything) with true affection which sets boundaries ( like his Father).

This is one of the most disturbing books I've ever come across in my life. It should come with an age restriction imo. The amount of vitreol and abuse he spews without any accountability is maddening! From the ghostwriter to the publisher and every enabler who's making money out of this is infuriating!

I'm not a fan of the British royal family after years of seeing their lack of moral standards, so I come at this stuff with an open mind, like maybe Harry suffers severe PTSD from his mother's death. So I really appreciate your clips from the book, which I haven't read. I totally agree the first shows a lot of affection from his father, almost an unusual amount a lot of kids don't get. After following live African wildlife webcams, absolutely yes, it's completely stupid to move toward the leopard, and a "sign" from his deceased mother? That doesn't even make sense. I think of "signs" more like a white dove glowing in the sunshine. Like he's fishing for sympathy of how "bad" he has it, and the more of a reason for me not to be interested in his book.

I think it's unfair to generalise about royal families lack of moral standards
      There are many without scandals
Media focuses on scandals which influences our view
