In this series, watch as I see how much money I can make in 30 days starting with NOTHING. No money, no social media and not even an Ebay store. I wanted to try to PROVE that anyone can spend a few hours a week flipping items and make some pretty significant side cash.

Update: I totally forgot to add in the $6 I got for the tennis bag but I also forgot to take out the $11.97 I spent on the leaf blower. So I have $5.97 less than I say in this video.

To be fair - finding or getting items for free is one thing. But shipping supplies - envelopes/mailers, tissue paper, packing tape - cost. ( Boxes are pretty easy to find) I guess start with a local sale?
I met a lady at dream deals in Spartanburg who is making a living doing exactly what you are doing on this series She has had a rough past and found herself homeless. She started hustling selling stuff. She still doesn't have a car yet, but she has an apartment and is doing well.

Great story, I’ve always done the same, I started out on the iso section and locate the item and get photos n send to person looking, sometimes I made a few bucks flipping the item, enough for fuel in my car 😁 thankfully I’m no longer in a scrounge position but it’s a great skill to learn

I thought the same thing! I just started selling on Ebay with my wife. We've listed 2 things so far and haven't sold either yet. We had "offer" that turned out to be a scam. When he found that dollar I think I was almost as excited as he was!

There is nothing to be ashamed of. We are all in public at all times, doing one version of sales or another. Even if someone is a doctor he is selling his services to sick, Lawyer, senator, MBA player, they all do. None of them is looking shy, do they.

Just found the Amazon bins, made a few purchases for fun and then decided to see if we could sell them. You're videos are so insightful and have helped me so much. I have done this several times over. Just drive around on garbage night and you can get a few hundred dollars in no time to start up a reselling business. Find free stuff and sell it on facebook marketplace. Then reinvest into buying/thrifting to resell. Boom! Thanks for great content Josh!

It took me a few years of thinking about reselling before I actually started, a lot of which was just intimidation and not knowing how much money it would take. it is assuming you have certain things, though, like shipping materials, a vehicle/money for fuel to run around, and such. Some of those things were tough when I got started many, many years ago. And there was no FB Marketplace! hahaha that was 1996. Best deal I found was a stinky, dirty, seriously needed cleaning - but running- $50 station wagon! lol - that car was a godsend

Really love this challenge. A fellow reseller and I always say that no matter what we can turn $5 into $50 or more just by selling something we own, find or buy for very little. In these times I feel like anyone with time on their hands AND motivation can do this.

This is awesome! I used to work a decent job in finance (pay was 50k a year) but it destroyed me emotionally and so I quit and now I just do a little of everything, including reselling. Anyway, my favorite part of this video is how you capture the excitement of just having fun while finding stuff to resell. It's fun to be outside looking for stuff, to be in stores looking for stuff, to be on the move instead of sitting at a desk or sitting at home working. Did we work for the same company?? My last company nearly destroyed my mental health... It was so bad that I shut my reselling business down.... I'm slowly trying to get back into it..

I’ve sold several “amputee” shoes! They sell well. However, considering they are golf shoes, probably not.
Same here. But never tried golf.
You can also donate them to different charities that help with amputees.
DD is like the goodwill. Really u need to go everyday like you did when you first started reselling. It took me so long to get a big score Dumpster Diving! But I hit jackpot at staples made over 700 on it since Oct...turbo tax business 2019

I have totally done this. Bought shoes that were different heights or two lefties. I listed them as amputee shoes and they sold.
I LOVE that you did this. This is exactly how I got started reselling and really sparked my passion for it. Now I have my own retail store both online and physical.

I found you a few days ago and I've got to say, you're really an inspiration man. I like how you break it down and show all the steps so that anyone can launch their own flipping business. At least for me, I've been wanting to get into it for a while now but there's almost a little bit of anxiety about getting into it--so many unknowns and as you said, it is tough to get good feedback on new ebay channels. Fun and informative video👍 .......having worked at a Play It Again Sports in Colorado, I have a few suggestions if people are wanting to go that route. First, the cleaner your items are, the more likely the store will want them. We would turn down decent items because we did not have the time to clean items. Typically if you want to sell an item, you’ll get about 30% of what the store plans to sell it for. You can get about 50% if you do consignment. And making friends with the staff is a great idea. They are happy to share what they are looking for depending on the season. We had a retired gentleman who loved to go to thrift shops( back in the 90’s) and he brought us great stuff and made some decent money too.

This was great to watch, series like this are super enjoyable to watch.
I'm so excited to watch the rest of this challenge. I'm watching as I photograph, list, and package things myself! I started with $0 like you, so I'm sort of doing this challenge in real life. I dumpster-dived and trash-picked until we had a HUGE stockpile of stuff and had a garage sale where we made almost $700 over a weekend. I've used some of the profits to buy abandoned storage units and just got a TON of stuff from garage sales.
My favorite free sell was a NorthFace jacket I got from a thrift store dumpster and sold locally on FB Marketplace for $20 in a couple of days. My favorite resale so far was some Pokemon books I picked up at a garage sale for $2 and then sold for $30! :D Now I have a huge stack of things that I'm working on listing and have started selling slowly but surely. :)

I've found several things on the side of the road that I've sold on Ebay and Facebook Marketplace. I don't go out trash picking, I just happen to be driving by and see it. It is possible to be very successful starting from 0. People just need to take the opportunities when they get them.

I also want to throw this out there, that start with looking around your house first to see if there is anything you can get of. It’s amazing what kind of treasure you can find just laying around your own house. Also, last year when I got laid off, I also reached out to my friends/family and asked for donations. I just hey if you happen to be cleaning out your closets anyway I can take it..... You never know what could happen. This goes back to always tell people what you do. 😊💕👍
So cool, Josh! I’m doing almost the same thing when it comes to giving my home a makeover. I’m using money that comes only from reselling thrift store finds to fund the projects in my home so I can makeover the rooms in my home debt-free.

This is probably my favorite video in awhile lol I love the concept of starting from $0 and the feeling of making those first decent sales when I started. I sold a camera lens about a month ago for $790 that I found at our Bargain Bins store on $5 day and I don't think that beat the feeling of my first eBay sale for a $30 pair of Atlanta Falcons CROCS lol can't wait to see more of this series!

So awesome to see you turn $0 into over $100 in a week! People have literally no excuses, it's possible! I wanna try this challenge now just because I'm curious if I can do something similar. Facebook has a lot of free pages and even Craiglist has a free section too. Some things might be worth picking up if they can generate profit. It's one thing spending money to make money but spending nothing and still making profit is just incredible! No one would be homeless or struggle if they had this mentality. Thanks so much Josh you are literally my inspiration. I watch a lot of resellers on RUclips now but you were the first I came across and the one who got me into reselling and it's changed my life! I'm making more a week than a minimum wage job just by shopping and shipping, I can be a stay home mom and generate profit which is LITERALLY the best of both worlds. The only thing I would like to add is that new Facebook users are not allowed to ship on marketplace. I tried to start a new Facebook for resell but I wasn’t able to ship. ☹️

Last month, I bought a pair of shoes for my daughter's birthday, which she loved. But a few minutes later, she came out of her room laughing and showed me it was two left shoes.🤦♀️ I hadn't really pulled them out of the box and apparently neither did the clerk. Fortunately, when I went back to the store a few days later the two right shoes were located.
I love this Josh. This is Jamie the Massage Therapist/Reseller. This is exactly how I built my business to show my homeschooled daughter how to start a business from nothing. I now love being a reseller and it really helps since I can not do as much massage as I used to.
On the dumpsters , you kinda have to know which stores throw away & which ones don't use compactors.
But you can find free valuable items. I just found about 200 in free lights at a lowes

I think it's only like that at first. I had the same problem with paypal holding my funds but after a while I automatically got the money in my account. I think you just gotta do a certain amount of successful sales so they know your trustworthy

Before anyone says anything, you can use free internet at the library, work force center, a friend's house, and even if you don't have money, everyone tends to have a phone with internet.
Clean supplies and travel to find items...you can make it work... dish soap, etc... I'm take "Zero" as absolute Zero.

In my opinion it sounded like you were pressuring and begging the buyer into giving you positive feedback. I personally automatically do not leave feedback if I feel pressured to. If I want to leave feedback I do. I do not give in to pressure.

- How to package shoes with boxes
- Does everything need a box?
- Where to get good deals on shipping material
- Step by step guide. Weigh. Info. Print. Ship. Whatever the steps are.

I like that you actually spend time to clean things before selling them, really annoys me when i see dirty things on ebay.
Two things. First, I'm a little surprised you didn't spend any time after day 1 scouting out more free stuff to sell, but of course you have your "regular" stuff to do too. Second, while this is a great demonstration of potential, newbies should keep in mind that Josh has a lot of experience doing this and so he knows a lot about what to buy and what to avoid. You absolutely can build from zero, but don't think you're not going to make mistakes or buy some junk along the way. As long as you know there's definitely a learning curve, reselling is both fun and profitable.
