    And why do the British still use a skateboard ramp to launch aircraft off their carriers? lol.

    • @RMGBADBOY
      @RMGBADBOY 5 лет назад +7

      Isnt it because its more of an LHD then an aircraft carrier? And since British navy uses Harriers? (idk. The british variant) that has Vertical Take Off and Land system, so it doesn't even need that much of an speed to launch? Look on... well now retired Kuznetzov (russian carrier) it has ramp too, but truth be told they didnt had VTOL jets so idk.

    • @SpenCrowson
      @SpenCrowson 5 лет назад +3

      @@RMGBADBOY Used to use Harriers, we don't anymore, the government thought it was a good idea to scrap them some years ago along with the carriers. We have just got a new carrier though and are getting some American thing to fly off it.

    • @Tastybuilder

    • @wntu4
      @wntu4 5 лет назад

      They use them because they use VTOL aircraft and have no use for cats. They are now spooling up their F-35 VTOL variants, which are primarily American made but are the result of international investment and effort.

    Hey, cool video! I was wondering if you can hang around the flight deck when it’s not your shift to kinda “hang out and watch the planes.” Or is that not allowed, are you supposed to stay indoors?

    • @aercastro82
      @aercastro82 5 лет назад +1

      Yes, if they are "Flight Deck qual" meaning qualified. The qualifications are done at Naval Air Station Pensacola and on the ship they are serving.

      @@ahhanahiii You are welcome. I forgot to mention, the "Vulture's Nest". The "Vulture's Nest" is another way to "hang around" and watch the launching and recovery sequence and it is a safe area. All personnel either qualified or not can watch it. What does the signal at 0:40 mean?

  • @billace90

    Cool. Isn’t it easier to use a two way radio and avoid any confusion in the hand signals?

      The noise outside are too much.

    • @aercastro82
      @aercastro82 5 лет назад

      The reality is that the noise is too loud that you cannot even hear yourself scream. The only sound you are going to hear during "taxing", is the HHHHSSSSSS sound.

    • @yxeaviationphotog
      @yxeaviationphotog 4 года назад

      It would be way to confusing with so many people talking at once. Hand signals are more effective and quicker.

    • @AndyGarcia-ch1ci
      @AndyGarcia-ch1ci 4 года назад

      Yellow shirts and most supervision have radios. Most people on the flight deck do not. Reason is because honestly they are expensive, and you don’t need 300 on the flight deck at one time, there is a loud speaker system called a 5mc that the tower used to communicate important messages to the flight deck crew that can be heard whenever a jet isn’t at military power or after burn. But hand signals have been around for 100 years and they still do just fine!

  • @TravelinBoneSC

    Wonder how fast they could scramble the whole load in case there was an aggressor inbound at super sonic speed.

    • @yxeaviationphotog
      @yxeaviationphotog 4 года назад

      They really wouldn't need too. There would be fighters flying combat air patrols above the ship. Any aggressor would have to get through them if they have any hope to get close to the ship. It would probably take well over an hour to launch the entire air wing. That's usually done at the end of the cruise, when the aircraft return to their land bases.

      @@bueno_oneub To become a Naval commissioned officer is be a Bachelor's Degree holder but you can apply for officer programs before earning your degree. The major fields of study required vary depending on the officer specialty. Programs like Navy ROTC and U.S. Naval Academy can lead you to become a commissioned officer. You should look into Navy ROTC main website and look into the Aviation Officer Candidate (AOC) or the Naval Flight Officer Candidate (NFOC). Research the website and locate a Navy ROTC recruiting station. If your recruiting station is far, you can contact them and inform them your interest in working in the aviation field. Good luck.

    • @AndyGarcia-ch1ci

      Enlisted. They are aviation boatswain’s mates handlers, also known as ABH’s or aircraft handlers/ directors. Officers wear khaki pants. Chiefs do too, but then it depends on what the jersey color/ combo/ says and also cranial (helmet) color/ combo.
