Manuel Molina por bulerías

Manuel Molina nació en Ceuta en 1948 en el seno de una familia gitana. Tomó sus primeras lecciones de guitarra de la mano de su padre, el guitarrista algecireño conocido como "El Encajero" (Manuel Molina Acosta "El Encajero"). Muy joven, se trasladó a la ciudad de Algeciras donde trabó amistad con Paco de Lucía. Más adelante la familia se mudó al barrio sevillano de Triana, donde Manuel formó un trío junto con Chiquetete y Manuel Domínguez "El Rubio", llamado Los gitanillos del Tardón. En 1968, se integró en el grupo Smash, banda española de rock psicodélico ubicada en Sevilla y considerada pionera del rock andaluz. En esta etapa obtuvo un gran éxito con el sencillo El garrotín (de la vera de San Juan), publicado en 1971, construido sobre el palo flamenco del mismo nombre y con letra en castellano e inglés.
En 1972 formó un dúo con Dolores Montoya Rodríguez "Lole", y adoptaron como nombre artístico Lole y Manuel. Publicaron en 1975 su primer disco titulado Nuevo día. Ese mismo año se casaron y fueron pareja artística y sentimental durante muchos años. Para muchos este dúo es el precursor del estilo musical conocido como nuevo flamenco. A partir de 1993, debido a su separación matrimonial de Dolores Montoya, desarrolló su actividad artística de forma independiente.
Manuel Molina was born in Ceuta in 1948 into a gypsy family. He took his first guitar lessons from the hand of his father, the guitarist from Algeria known as "El Encajero" (Manuel Molina Acosta "El Encajero"). Very young, he moved to the city of Algeciras where he befriended Paco de Lucía. Later the family moved to the Sevillian neighborhood of Triana, where Manuel formed a trio together with Chiquetete and Manuel Domínguez "El Rubio", called Los gitanillos del Tardón. In 1968, he joined the group Smash, a Spanish psychedelic rock band located in Seville and considered a pioneer of Andalusian rock. At this stage he achieved great success with the single El garrotín (de la vera de San Juan), published in 1971, built on the flamenco style of the same name and with lyrics in Spanish and English.
In 1972 he formed a duo with Dolores Montoya Rodríguez "Lole", and they adopted Lole and Manuel as their stage names. In 1975 they published their first album entitled Nuevo día. That same year they got married and were an artistic and sentimental couple for many years. For many, this duo is the forerunner of the musical style known as new flamenco. As of 1993, due to his marital separation from Dolores Montoya, he developed his artistic activity independently.
