To vague on how you decided villa would contract, yes we all know they had a big win week before and yes there is some relevant info on info goal but a lot of games with this criteria wouldn’t really move or drift.
Sorry, David. Will try harder in the future. It's a fair comment, there was a lot more tha could have been shared behind the reasoning there, although on the flip side, not much benefit to just post on RUclips. Will make an effort to be more detailed next time. Thanks for pointing this out :)
Yeah I don't really get where the edge is here or at least it isn't explained. Why did you believe the market wasn't priced correctly 2 hours before KO? From what I can see it's just as likely that the price moves in the opposite direction. You mentioned Villa's recent results as why they would be favourites but that would already be priced in and not an indicator that prices will continue to contract
@@benjyyy that was my first thought too. I'm wondering if the average punter places their bets one or two hours before the game. Essentially the market doesn't fully form it's opinion until right up to the kick off
That’s part of the skill of trading, and it isn’t a risk free activity, sometimes it will go against you and you need to be prepared to take the loss and move on. If you don’t want any risk then best avoided.
@@benjyyy As I understand it (and I might be wrong), there is the mathematical probability of an event happening, and corresponding odds that could be worked out accurately. But that is not the only thing that determines actual odds on the exchange, there is also big daft Joe Public's opinion, much of it possibly beer fuelled before the game starts. How much weighting this has on the available odds I don't know, but it must evidently skew the odds and provide value opportunities somewhere, otherwise, aside from just after team news and unless an injury to a key player happens in the warm up, odds would remain the same. So I guess what I am saying is if there is no team news or injuries or anything that changes the mathematical likelihood of certain outcomes for an hour before the match, yet the price does move, then it must be incorrect at one stage or another. Trying to guess what the largest portion of Joe Public thinks does seem like the best way to guess which direction it is going to go in
Really good! I took a break from learning how to trade football but keen to get back into it. Glad to see you’re still here giving valuable and educational tips!
All your trades you post always work out perfectly. I am sure you are a very successful trader and it does work out for you most of the time. But could you maybe show your thought process behind a trade that does not go exactly as planned? and how you exit the trade? Cheers Adam.
Really good example to any newbie (or indeed an intermediate trader) of how to play the market. Great reference to what the use of £500 actually means. Good to see a lovely profit before a ball is licked (especially when you consider the end result!) Cheers again Caan
Yes, I think sometimes people think those kind of stakes pre-game mean far bigger numbers. Never at any point was that at risk though unless it was left to run full time. In-play trading is a different ballgame of course. This is a lower risk more reliable way to approach the markets. Glad you found it of use.
Excellent video really shows the power of trading and not having your total stake at risk I like this more than horses racing preoff as you don’t get big swings in price and can still get out in play without a big loss vs horse in play
Great vid, trying to get my head around trading and wondered how much you layed? Im used to having the cash out in the bet fair sportsbook, I assume unused a lay calculator?
Too bad, seemed like a pretty obvious one... but then hindsight is always a great thing. I thought it would certainly hit 2.08 before entering, little suprised it touched 1.94 in the end. A solid trade :)
Good stuff. Nice to see something about pre-match football as it seems more like 'proper' trading. The in play strategies you normally see are a bit too close to gambling I think. More would be great. Cheers!
I've been trading a good while now and that was one of the clearest. most concise explanations I've ever seen. Good to see you talking about football trading also; I know you've favoured pre-off horses for a long time so this is great stuff. Thanks Caan.
Hi Caan thanks for all your videos, can I ask is it possible to do these pre match price movement trades on football, horse racing etc without any software? I get you can see the current movements as they happen but can I do it without the software? I saw a good chance on Man City really today, they were around 1.75 a few hours before kick off which seemed over priced to me, and it came in to about 1.65 at kick off. I didn't get involved on the price movement but did back city at the 80th minute at odds of 3.6 to then cash out 4 minutes later 1-0 up! kaboom !
As a Leeds fan I was watching the odds on this one. Definitely there was some early movement probably down to the recency bias of the Liverpool result and Leeds lost their previous match vs Wolves imo. Think the price went even more because Kalvin Phillips was ruled out and people only found out when the team sheet was released and Liam Cooper the captain was ruled out late too. This is a strategy I am really interested in, thanks for posting. I'm using Sofa Score App and following football team twitter accounts for team sheet news. It can be tough keeping up with everything to try find your angle though.
All fair observations there, John. Looking into the market behaviour can be quite telling at the best of times too. People seem to have a bias to reading excessive amounts of form etc (probably derived from the things media push).
I want to get into betting exchange, but there's a key point I'm tryna figure out. If I match someone's bet and he decides to cash out before the match finishes, doesn't that leave me at a loss, after placing an opposite bet on a traditional bookmaker? What if people keep doing that? If I match someone's bet, can I stop the other person from cashing out in-play?
Caan... do you need to have an odds compilation model for football that includes Xg and player rating etc to know what the market is going to do so if you know price is going to firm or drift? Or u look for signals in the graphs?
I want to join the Betting Exchange for Arbitrage Betting. I wish to lay on the exchange and back on my local bookmaker. But there is something I need to be sure of before I start though. If I lay on the exchange and my bet gets matched ( by one person or more people), is it possible that the other person just cancels the bet or just cashes out mid-game? Coz if a person does that, then I'm exposed on the bookmaker. Also, if after my lay bet gets matched and odds rise in-game all through to the end, will it add to my liability?
Hey Caan, appreciate your content. One question about this strategy. I got in a very early backing two days ahead of a game and the odds are moving in my favour. Now when I want to lay this bet, it only shows a potential profit on the team I backed. The other team and the draw show a potential profit of zero. So basically the potential profit isn't showing on all three options. I can press the cash-out and still make a profit, but it would be bigger if I could lay the bet. Any idea as to why this happens? I'm pretty new to this :)
I do go away... but not because of temptation. If you can't control the trigger finger you're in trouble! I know its a common problem for newbies mind. You have to learn how to set emotions aside.
Hey man awesome video, how many trades are you making on a daily basis, as I imagine the research aspect must take you some time. I see some other salty people commenting as they just want you to tell them how to make money, as with all things we don’t know exactly what the market will do, are there some instances where you make the incorrect call and you need to close out a loss position as well?
what worries me sometimes is if you have say £500 pound you dnt want to risk all, on a trade ready to cashout on price movement but then website goes down I think I have seen other vid on this what do you do in this instance
Im just doing demo mode at moment I like greyhounds I know volitile market but I think quite good trying that as once going to horses/football easier with it being less volatile to get your prices matched - in demo mode are your prices matched easier than real money or exactly the same im using geeks toy
Prevention is always better than cure when it comes to trading although will look at dealing with losses and get one done at some point no problem. Thanks for letting us know what is interesting!
Think he intimated that a £6.25 loss would be where to call it a day. You could lose 5 of those trades and still be £19 up. You need to have discipline to do that and not chase a bet in the same market, it can go in-play and you end up gambling where you had no intention of doing so.
You can cash-out, but you should really learn the difference between the two models. If you were using a sportsbook you would have had a tiny slither of the same result as they rip you off on the initial odds and the cash-out price. Trading exchanges that operate at almost 100% overround brings far better results.
Do you think strongly tipped teams can cause profitable movements? Also, how important the weight of money you think is in this case? I think leaving a position open for hours to take some ticks might be interesting, but keeping an eye in the information flowing prior to the off seems a bit stressful
Media influence and the crowds impression can be a very important thing yes. In some instances you find masses of people will bet a certain outcome regardless of the current price. Tipping is a funny one though, depends on the source. If we're talking one of the top football pundits going on a rant 30 mins before the match on prime TV, it could made an impact. Is that how you meant? Weight of 'matched' money is always important.
