Hello there! Long time broadcaster here. Master Control, IT, and Engineering. Recently started directing the news back at my home station which is a small one man directing operation using a program called vMix. Really cool to see how its done in a bigger market.
Boy, six years, things have really changed. Automation eliminating or revising job functions, if you are lucky and your station isn’t being run from a remote control room
Very nice. Calm and relaxed. I would have liked to have heard director more with the PGM audio lower… And instead of thee SIDE view of the director, I would have liked to be able to see the rack of monitors a little better. Also, are this CG’s changing and transitioning automatically? Does the newsroom system control the CG’s through the switcher somehow? Thanks!
Awesome! Good luck with your classes! Local news can be a grind, but it’s a lot of fun seeing everything come together for a live newscast. Let me know if you have any other questions at all!
thanks for posting - i’m also a newscast director and this is the video i’ve been showing people when trying to explain what i do for work

Also, I wasn’t away Snell and Wilcox made production switchers. Although at first, I thought that “Kahuna” was a GV product.

I wonder if other CBS affiliates owned by gray television have a similar control room design.
Dream job!
Fascinating stuff 👌
I am actually going to college for this. Is it worth it?

@@thevernie very nice! Should be a fun field to get into!
Depends the market your in. Some smaller markets don't pay a lot for the same work, which is a tragedy.
How did you edit this all together? In Adobe Premier?
What’s the name of this major??
